Abstract
This invention relates to an air conditioner and, more particularly, to an air conditioner console and fan air conditioner hybrid that is unified in order to have two pieces of a refrigeration system in one solitary unit. This invention includes arrangements to substantially improve the usual 15,000 BTU limit more commonplace in other refrigeration systems, while simultaneously reducing assembly and installation requirements.
Description
- This invention relates to the assembly of an air conditioner console and fan air conditioner unit that is unified in order to have two pieces of a refrigeration system in one solitary unit. The console and air conditioner are connected via a common compressor in a way that separates the cold and hot gas. The unit is to be placed high on the wall with the front end being the air conditioner that expels the cold air through its swing vents, and the console with a motor fan hidden within the wall expelling heat outdoors.
- The term air conditioner as herein used includes air cooling units, refrigeration systems, heat pumps as well as humidifiers and dehumidifiers, or similar units. These various units condition the air by either heating or cooling it, adding or subtracting humidity.
- The present invention is directed to the assembly of a “window style” room air conditioner unit for condominiums that want a more pleasing outdoor aesthetic. So-called “window style” air conditioners' are commonly placed parallel to the floor, restricting the layout of whatever room they are installed in and mar the appearance of a building by the unsightly protrusion of air conditioning units from the walls or windows thereof. It is desirable to provide an air conditioner which can be installed in such a way as to not to mar the both the outward and inward aesthetic of a building while also creating a viable refrigeration system and a more convenient installation. The elimination of grills on its lateral sides compresses the unit to a mere sixteen inches (16″) in depth, to be installed high on the wall, all but eliminating the unit's outward protrusion and providing a more pleasing aesthetic.
- A conventional refrigeration unit is completed by the addition of a compressor, an expansion device, and the appropriate connections between the components. By unifying an air conditioner with a hybrid console using a common compressor, the invention results in a viable two-piece refrigeration system that is compact in one solitary unit. Typically, the outdoor section of a conventional refrigeration unit includes an outdoor fan and fan orifice. This invention includes a motorized fan that is hidden between the air conditioner with a hybrid console, and unified in a way that separates the cold and hot gas, expelling the warmed air outwards and cool air inwards, maximizing the units' capacity and allowing the unit to surpass the usual 15,000 BTU limits more commonplace in other refrigeration systems.
- It is desirable to design a unit which may be assembled in a manner which will minimize the total number of individual components within a commonplace unit. By requiring fewer components or attachments, this invention is unified in a way that reduces the assembly and installation requirements and costs.
- It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a viable refrigeration system that is compact and “window style” ideal for condominiums.
- A further object of this invention is to provide a more convenient installation and desire to maximize the units' capacity, which will permit the unit to be readily installed or removed, as needed.
- A further object of this invention is to provide surpass the usual 15,000 BTU limits more commonplace in other refrigeration systems.
- A further object of this invention is to cut down on labor costs involved in the installation of more commonplace refrigeration systems.
- The invention includes an air conditioner console and fan air conditioner hybrid that is unified in order to have two pieces of a refrigeration system in one solitary unit. This unit is to be placed high on the wall with the front end being the air conditioner that expels the cold air through its swing vents and the console with a motorized condensing fan hidden within the wall expelling heat outdoors. - The idea behind this invention is to create a viable refrigeration system that is compact and “window style” which would be ideal for condominiums that want a more pleasing outdoor aesthetic, a more convenient installation and desire to maximize the units' capacity. This invention would permit to surpass the usual 15,000 BTU limits more commonplace in other refrigeration systems while cutting down on labor costs involved in installation.
- With the above and related objects in view, this invention consists as a combination of parts, as will be more fully understood from the following description, which is to be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the invention with the parts removed to reveal the details of the unit. - The air conditioner unit of this invention consists of a hybrid console air conditioner unit enclosed in a substantially rectangular casing made of plastic non-corroding material. Included with the hybrid unit may be an air conditioner console and fan air conditioner that is unified in order to have two pieces of a refrigeration system in one solitary unit.

FIG. 2 illustrates a perspective view of the hybrid unit mounted high on the wall and its minimal outward protrusion 6. - The unit's front end and back end which will have suitable openings for the air travel, the back-end or outside wall providing an opening that will expel heated or warmed air outwards, the front-end which will have two openings, one opening 7 (not shown) adjacent to the ceiling will draw in the air inside of the room, while the second opening 8 (not shown) adjacent to the floor will discharge the cooled air into the room. The hybrid unit is supported by a rectangular base pan 9.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view invention with the parts removed to reveal the details of the air conditioner hybrid unit, embodying the principles of the present invention. The details of the air conditioner hybrid unit are as follows: - The hybrid unit may include an
evaporator system 10 that both absorbs heat from the surrounding environment into a working liquid fluid that may pass through acondenser system 11 with heat exchanging coils 5 that, at a first end, may be fussed to thesuction line 12 through the compressor 2 and, at a second end, to the hot-gas line 13 through a liquid line 14 that contains a receiver-drier 15, whereupon the fluid may be recirculated. - The
evaporator system 10 may absorb heat from the surrounding environment, whereupon the colorless gas or freon passes through thesuction line 12 and into the compressor system 2 as a low-pressure gas. The compressor system 2 may be of high efficiency and supported by threecushions 16 that may be one and a half cubic inches. The compressor system 2 circulates the gaseous refrigerant necessary, raising its temperature so that it changes it into a high-pressure gas, that condenses into a liquid. The refrigerant may then travel through the coils 5 of thecondenser system 11. Thecondenser 11 may expel heat from the fluid to aid in cooling the fluid, when this gas moves through the coils 5, it cools down to a liquid form and whereupon it is further cooled by the motorized condensing fan 3. - The liquid gas may then move towards the liquid line 14 and through the receiver-
drier 15, which purifies the refrigerant. The refrigerant may then travel through anexpansion valve 17, changing into a low-pressure and chilled gas, until it reaches theevaporator 10. As this occurs, the hybrid unit suctions the air through a vent into the air ducts 7. The motorizedevaporator fan 18 connected to theevaporator 10, may circulate the gas and refrigerant, expelling the cooled air back into the room 8. The refrigerant then returns to the compressor 2 and the cycle starts again. - By combining an air conditioner console and fan air conditioner unit via a common compressor 2, the unit will have two separate refrigeration systems in one solitary unit. Using a common compressor 2 allows the unit to surpass the 15,000 BTU limit more commonplace in other refrigeration systems.
- In assembly, the air conditioner unit may be unified to the fan air conditioner via a zinc plate, such as by welding or bolting the units together.
- The above detailed description of this invention is intended as being illustrative rather than limiting, since the invention may be variously embodied, and the scope of the invention is to be determined as claimed.
Claims (1)
1. A high wall-mounted room air conditioner that is contained in a hybrid console, having an indoor and outdoor section which are supported by a base pan, and which are separated by a zinc plate, the inside of which is connected by a common compressor, a motorized indoor fan, an evaporator coil, and a condenser coil, wherein the hybrid console comprises, specifically of:
a wall casing comprising a pair of vertically extending spaced apart parallel walls, having an indoor side and outdoor side, being built high on the wall and housing an indoor and outdoor air conditioning console connected or unified to a fan air conditioning unit using a common compressor, having a motor fan hidden within the vertically extending spaced apart parallel walls separating the heated or cooled air, comprising of two refrigeration systems in a single solidary unit, having suitable openings for air travel, the front-end having two openings, an opening adjacent the ceiling for drawing the air from inside of the room and a second opening adjacent to the floor for discharging cooled air into the room through swinging vents, and providing opening for the expelling of heated or warmed air outwards and outdoors through its back-end or outside wall.
a combination of the air cooling units, refrigeration systems, heat pumps, humidifiers and dehumidifiers that allows the hybrid unit to surpass the usual capacity of 15,000 BTUs.
