- The disclosure and prior art relates to brush covers and more particularly pertains to a new brush cover for sanitary use of brushes.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shell having an open end. The shell is pliable. A plurality of penetrations is positioned through the shell. Each penetration is configured to allow passage of water through the shell and to reject passage of microbes through the shell. A closure is coupled to the shell adjacent to the open end. The shell is sized and configured such that the bristle section of a brush is insertable through the open end into the shell. The closure is positioned on the shell such that the closure is configured to reversibly couple to a handle of the brush to retain the shell in a covering position over the bristle section. The shell is configured to deter passage of microbes from the bristle section to a user.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a protective brush cover according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new brush cover embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , theprotective brush cover 10 generally comprises ashell 12 that has anopen end 14. Theshell 12 is pliable. Theshell 12 is sized and configured such that the bristle section of a brush is insertable through theopen end 14 into theshell 12. In one embodiment, theshell 12 is sized and configured such that the bristle section of a barber brush is insertable through theopen end 14 into theshell 12. In another embodiment, theshell 12 is sized and configured such that the bristle section of a makeup brush is insertable through theopen end 14 into theshell 12. Theshell 12 has a closedend 16. In one embodiment, the closedend 16 is rounded. - A plurality of
penetrations 18 is positioned through theshell 12. Eachpenetration 18 is configured to allow passage of water through theshell 12 and to reject passage of microbes through theshell 12. In one embodiment, thepenetrations 18 are sized at from 0.1 to 45 micrometers. In another embodiment, thepenetrations 18 are sized at from 10 to 45 micrometers. In yet another embodiment, thepenetrations 18 are sized at substantially 45 micrometers. - A
closure 20 is coupled to theshell 12 adjacent to theopen end 14. Theclosure 20 is positioned on theshell 12 such that theclosure 20 is configured to reversibly couple to a handle of the brush to retain theshell 12 in a covering position over the bristle section. In one embodiment, theclosure 20 is configured to couple to a barber brush. In another embodiment, theclosure 20 is configured to couple to a makeup brush. - In yet another embodiment, the
closure 20 comprises asleeve 22 and an annularelastic band 24. Thesleeve 22 is coupled to theshell 12 around aperimeter 26 of theopen end 14. The annularelastic band 24 is positioned in thesleeve 22 and is configured to be stretched by a user to enlarge theopen end 14. Theopen end 14, thus enlarged, is configured to insert the bristle section of the brush through theopen end 14 into theshell 12. The annularelastic band 24 is configured to contract to compress theopen end 14. Theopen end 14 is configured to reversibly couple to the handle of the brush to retain theshell 12 in a covering position over the bristle section. - In use, the
shell 12 is sized and configured such that the bristle section of a brush is insertable through theopen end 14 into theshell 12. Theclosure 20 is positioned on theshell 12 such that theclosure 20 is configured to reversibly couple to a handle of the brush to retain theshell 12 in a covering position over the bristle section. Theshell 12 is configured to deter passage of microbes from the bristle section of the brush to a user. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
