Abstract
A lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack system. The lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack system includes unisex breathable straps, pouches, chain straps, daisy chains, cinch straps, pouches, elastic cinch strap, Velcro units, and soft body armor units. The backpack system is made of durable nylon material, polyester/plastic material, porous/non-woven material and metal. Further, the lightweight bullet/stab resistant. The backpack system is cost effective and easy to carry on daily basis by everyone. The backpack is capable of providing protection from bullets, knife stabbings, stab, and shrapnel, as well as capable of storing different types of goods/ articles as per the user's requirements. backpack system is configured so that it can be worn in a manner where the soft armor plate protects the user's back, or can be worn in a manner where the soft armor plate protects the user's chest.

- At least some embodiments disclosed herein relate, in general, to a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack. More particularly the embodiments relate to a backpack which is capable of providing protection to the user from bullet and any other penetrable weapon. Further, the embodiments also describe various characteristics and features present disclosure relating to lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack, and its capability to store different types of goods and articles.
- Generally backpacks are used by students or common man for the purposes of carrying goods and articles. Normal backpacks do not provide any bullet/stab resistant features. The growth in terrorist and criminal activities throughout the world has raised major concerns relating to security and safety of the public at large. There have been sudden violent attacks globally, and there is need to provide equipment which can provide safety to the public from these incidents like gun shooting, knife attacks, and terrorist activities. embodiments of the present disclosure aims to provide a lightweight backpack which is bullet/stab resistant.
- Further, the equipment which possesses bullet/ stab resistant features generally comprises plates which is bullet proof. Such bullet proof systems, such as, for example, jackets are not available to general public due to its unavailability and cost. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide light weight bullet/ stab resistant backpack which will be easy to carry at all times as per the requirement of the user. The backpack of the present disclosure is easy to afford and can be carried by persons of all ages.
- In light of above discussion, there exists a need for lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack system and method for manufacturing the same.
- This Summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified format further described below in the Detailed Description. This Summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to limit the scope of the claimed subject matter.
- Disclosed herein are various embodiments of the present disclosure providing a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack, which is easy to carry for persons of all age groups. Embodiments of the backpack disclosed herein can be configured to carry varying types of item of different shape and sizes.
- An aspect of the present disclosure provides a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack system.
- Another aspect of the present disclosure provides a method for manufacturing a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack system.
- Another aspect of the present disclosure provides an easily affordable lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack which includes soft body armor.
- According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack which is fully functioning that gives the everyday user an innocuous ability to protect themselves.
- Another aspect of the present disclosure provides a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack which is capable of protecting the user in incidents related to bomb blasts.
- According to another embodiment of the present disclosure, a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack which is capable of being used in every type of climate and regions around the world.
- In some embodiments, the lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack is made up of durable nylon material, polyester/plastic material and porous/non-woven material and metal zippers.
- Further, according to another aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a method of manufacturing of lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack system.

- According to an aspect of the present disclosure the above noted and other objects, in one aspect, may be achieved by a method or a system of the present disclosure. The system includes a lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack. The lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack provides the potential safety and security to the user from any unfortunate incidents which includes but not limited to, gun shots, knife attacks, bomb blasts etc. The lightweight feature of the backpack of the present disclosure makes it comfortable for the user to carry it easily for any use. The backpack can be used for carrying sporting goods, outdoor use, force protection, public safety, and school use etc. The lightweight bullet/stab resistant backpack of the present disclosure is a fully functioning backpack which provides safety to the student, police, military personal/ user in everyday use.
- Turning now to the figures,
FIG. 1 shows afront view 100 a and arearview 100 b of a backpack having a concealed body shield in a zippered pouch (not shown). Thebackpack 100 a has two side pouches one which is visible at 111 the other side pouch on the left of thebackpack 100 a and is not visible. Both side pouches are closed by adouble zipper 112. Pouch number 2 (not shown) has a glow-in-the-dark YKK pull tab. This enables a user to access the contents of the pouch number 2 such as, for example, a firearm, in the event the user is in an unlit environment. Thebackpack 100 a has anoutside mesh pouch 114 with a bungee sink down 113 and five reinforcedclip straps 115. - In the
rearview 100 b of the backpack, the back of thepack 100 b hasbreathable straps 116, anadjustable waist strap 118, and an adjustable chest strap with awhistle 117. A removable soft armor plate (not visible) is in a pouch directly in back of theback panel 119 and covers substantially the entire back panel. - In an embodiment, the

FIG. 2 , an embodiment of asoft armor plate 120 is shown. Thesoft armor plate 120 is removably inserted into apouch 122. In other embodiments, more than one soft armor plate can be inserted into the pouch, In an embodiment, thepouch 122 is a zipper pouch that is 11.5″×15.5″. On the front side of thepouch 123, pouches can be added that can accommodate various items such as, for example, books or tablet computers. - In an embodiment, the 122 pouch for the soft armor plate is a size and a shape that is substantially the same as a size and a shape of the back of the backpack. In an embodiment, the
soft armor plate 120 has a size and a shape that is substantially the same as the size and shape of thepouch 122, such that when the soft armor plate is inserted into thepouch 122, the back of the backpack is substantially covered by thesoft armor plate 120. - In an embodiment, the
soft armor plate 120 that is used complies with the National Institute of Justice Standard −0101.06 for Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor that is made in the USA. In other embodiments, the soft armor could be fabricated to comply with, or exceed, other government of non-government standards. This armor helps absorb the impact and reduce or prohibit penetration to the body from firearm fired projectiles and shrapnel from explosions. In various embodiments, the soft armor plate has a thickness of 5-15 millimeters and weighs in the range of 1-4 lbs. - In an embodiment, the
armor plate 120 is made from many layers of woven and laminated fibers that are capable of protecting the user from small caliber handgun and shotgun projectiles, and small fragments from explosives such as hand grenades and other small arms or rifles. The most common ammo is 9 mm and this armor is more than sufficient to protect from this and most other small firearms, knife penetration, etc. - In various other embodiments, the

FIG. 3 illustrates additional features that can be added to thebackpack 100 d. Such features can include azipper mesh pouch 130. Opposite thezipper mesh pouch 130,pouches 132 can be added to hold additional items such as books or a tablet computer. A clip can be added for keys as well (not shown). - In various embodiments, the
backpack 100 d can include plurality of hook and loop units for holding a plurality of straps and a plurality of additional pouches inside the backpack. In various embodiments, thebackpack 100 d can include a plurality of additional pouches inside the back of thebackpack 100 d. In an embodiment, thebackpack 100 d can include at least one chain strap adapted to lock a compartment of thebackpack 100 d. In various embodiments, the backpack can include between three (3) to six (6) inside compartments. Claims (20)
1. A backpack comprising:
a pouch adapted to receive at least one soft armor plate; and
at least one soft armor plate, wherein the at least one soft armor plate is removably inserted into the pouch.
2. The backpack of claim 1 wherein the pouch is adjacent to a back of the backpack.
3. The backpack of claim 2 wherein the pouch is a size and a shape that is substantially the same as a size and a shape of the back of the backpack.
4. The backpack of claim 3 wherein the at least one soft armor plate has a size and a shape that is substantially the same as the size and shape of the first pouch, such that when the at least one soft armor plate is inserted in the first pouch, the back of the backpack is substantially covered by the at least one soft armor plate.
5. The backpack of claim 4 wherein the at least one soft armor plate is made from a plurality of layers of woven and laminated fibers.
6. The backpack of claim 5 wherein the at least one soft armor plate has a thickness of 5-15 millimeters and weighs in the range of 1-4 lbs.
7. The backpack of claim 6 wherein the at least one soft armor plate complies with the National Institute of Justice Standard-0101.06 for ballistic Resistance of Body Armor.
8. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack comprises plurality of parts, each of the plurality of parts fabricated from one of a durable nylon material, a polyester material, plastic material, porous non-woven material, and metal.
9. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack has a capacity of 25-35 liters.
10. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack comprises between three (3) to six (6) inside compartments, at least one of the inside compartments additionally comprising an approximately square piece of hook and loop material.
11. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack comprises additionally comprises at least one second pouch on at least one side of the backpack, the at least one second pouch adapted to hold a water bottle and a power supply unit.
12. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack comprises a plurality of second pouches inside the back of the backpack.
13. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack comprises at least one chain straps adapted to lock a compartment of the backpack.
14. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack additionally comprises a plurality of breathable straps.
15. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack comprises a plurality of hook and loop units for holding a plurality of straps and a plurality of second pouches in an inside of the backpack.
16. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein a bottom of the backpack comprises at least one axe loop and a rain cover zipper pocket.
17. The backpack of claim 4 , wherein the backpack additionally comprises an adjustable waist strap, an adjustable chest strap, the adjustable chest strap having a whistle on a clip.
18. The backpack of claim 1 wherein the at least one soft armor plate is placed in one of: a backing of the backpack and a padding of the backpack.
19. The backpack of claim 4 wherein the at least one soft armor plate is interwoven in one of: a backing of the backpack and a padding of the backpack.
20. The backpack of claim 4 wherein the backpack is configured to be worn in a manner such that the backpack covers a user's chest.
