Abstract

A sleeping pillow assembly includes a pillow that has a plurality of cushions. A selected one of the cushions may support a head of a user while the user sleeps. The pillow has a pair of flattened portions and each of the flattened portions is distributed between the cushions. A selected one of the flattened portions may have an arm of the user positioned beneath the selected flattened portion. Thus, the user's arm is laterally spaced from the user's head when the user sleeps thereby inhibiting the user from lying directly on the user's arm.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE Field of the Disclosure
  • The disclosure relates to pillow devices and more particularly pertains to a new pillow device for inhibiting a user's arm from falling asleep when a user sleeps.
  • SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pillow that has a plurality of cushions.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a top perspective view of a sleeping pillow assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3 of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new pillow device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the sleeping pillow assembly 10 generally comprises a pillow 12 that has a plurality of cushions 14. A selected one of the cushions 14 may support a head 16 of a user 18 while the user 18 sleeps. The pillow 12 has a pair of flattened portions 20 and the flattened portions 20 are distributed between the cushions 14. An arm 22 of the user 18 may be positioned beneath a selected one of the flattened portions 20 when the user 18 sleeps. The user's arm 22 is laterally spaced from the user's head 16 when the user 18 sleeps.
  • The pillow 12 has a top surface 24, a bottom surface 26, a first lateral edge 28 and a second lateral edge 30. The top surface 24 corresponding to each of the cushions 14 is concavely arcuate with respect to a line extending through the first lateral edge 28 and the second lateral edge 30. The bottom surface 26 corresponding to each of the cushions 14 is concavely arcuate with respect to the line. Thus, each of the cushions 14 has an ovoid cross section taken perpendicular to the line.
  • Each of the cushions 14 is positioned between the top surface 24 and the bottom surface 26 of the pillow 12. Each of the plurality of cushions 14 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material thereby enhancing comfort of the pillow 12. The plurality of cushions 14 includes a central cushion 32, a first lateral cushion 34 and a second lateral cushion 36.
  • The central cushion 32 is centrally positioned on the pillow 12. The first lateral cushion 34 is coextensive with the first lateral edge 28. The second lateral cushion 36 is coextensive with the second lateral edge 30. Each of the first lateral cushion 34 and the second lateral cushion 36 are spaced from the central cushion 32.
  • Each of the first lateral cushion 34 and the second lateral cushion 36 has an inwardly facing edge 38. The inwardly facing edge 38 corresponding to the first lateral cushion 34 is concavely arcuate with respect to the first lateral edge 28. Thus, the first lateral cushion 34 has a semi-ovoid shape. The inwardly facing edge 38 corresponding to the second lateral cushion 36 is concavely arcuate with respect to the second lateral edge 30. Thus, the second lateral cushion 36 has a semi-ovoid shape.
  • Each of the flattened portions 20 is positioned between the central cushion 32 and an associated one of the first lateral cushion 34 and the second lateral cushion 36. Each of the flattened portions 20 comprises a panel 40 positioned between the top surface 24 and the bottom surface 26 of the pillow 12. The panel 40 corresponding to each of the flattened portions 20 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material.
  • The bottom surface 26 corresponding to each of the central cushion 32, the first lateral cushion 34 and the second lateral cushion 36 may be positioned on a support surface 42. The bottom surface 26 corresponding to each of the flattened portions 20 is spaced from the support surface 42. Thus, a pair of negative spaces 44 is defined between the pillow 12 and the support surface 42. The support surface 42 may comprise a sleeping bed or the like.
  • The user's head 16 may rest upon the top surface 24 corresponding to a selected one of the cushions 14 when the user 18 sleeps. The user's arm 22 may be positioned in a selected negative space 44 when the user 18 sleeps. The user 18 is inhibited from lying directly on the user's arm 22. Thus, the user's arm 22 is inhibited from being subjected to reduced circulation or a pinched nerve while user 18 sleeps on the user's side and the user's stomach. The user's arm 22 may follow the contour of the inwardly facing edge 38 of the corresponding first lateral cushion 34 and the second lateral cushion 36. Thus, the user's forearm may be positioned at a natural angle with respect to the user's upper arm.
  • In use, the pillow 12 is used for sleeping. The user's arm 22 is positioned beneath a selected one of the negative spaces 44. The user's head 16 is positioned on a selected one of the cushions 14. Thus, the user's arm 22 is sequestered from the user's head 16 while the user 18 sleeps. Thus, the user's arm 22 does not fall asleep while the user 18 sleeps.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
