Description
- The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 62/173,794 filed on Jun. 10, 2015.
- The present invention relates generally to game boards and game equipment. More specifically, the present invention relates to an inclined game board with integrated seating for players of the game.
- Chess is a game that has been around for many years and is one of the most popular games ever created. Surprisingly throughout the years, the design of the chessboard has not seen much change at all. The most commonly used designs involve making chessboards out of wood, glass, or stone. Occasionally, one might also see a larger design, where the game pieces may require both hands to lift, but all of these designs are two-dimensional.
- Accordingly, there is a present need for a new chessboard design which can make the game of chess more interesting to play. The present invention is a multi-dimensional chessboard that is designed to give users a unique chess-playing experience. The present invention includes adjustable seating that is integrated into the board, allowing users to play comfortably. The present invention features a large and inclined game board along with larger than normal game pieces which are used to enhance the game of chess.

FIGS. 1-2 , the present invention is a game board and seating system. The present invention is designed to provide a unique means of playing chess through the use of aninclined game board 10. Further, the present invention includes seating for the users playing chess. The present invention comprises aboard frame 1, aninclined game board 10, afirst seat assembly 14, and asecond seat assembly 15. Theboard frame 1 is used to support theinclined game board 10 and conceal portions of thefirst seat assembly 14 and thesecond seat assembly 15. Theboard frame 1 comprises abase panel 2, afirst end panel 3, asecond end panel 4, a leftlateral panel 5, and a rightlateral panel 6. Thebase panel 2 is used as a stable foundation for the rest of theboard frame 1 and theinclined game board 10. Thefirst end panel 3, thesecond end panel 4, the leftlateral panel 5, and the rightlateral panel 6 are perimetrically attached to thebase panel 2. Thefirst end panel 3, thesecond end panel 4, the leftlateral panel 5, and the rightlateral panel 6 are all used to structurally support theinclined game board 10. Theinclined game board 10 is used to support a plurality ofgame pieces 29 which are used to play chess. Theinclined game board 10 is perimetrically attached adjacent to theboard frame 1. As a result, theinclined game board 10 is positioned opposite to thebase panel 2 providing a unique playing surface which is designed to be new and intriguing for users to play on. Thefirst seat assembly 14 and thesecond seat assembly 15 are mounted onto thebase panel 2. Thefirst seat assembly 14 and thesecond seat assembly 15 provide seating for two users playing the game. To position the users at opposite ends of theinclined game board 10, thefirst seat assembly 14 and thesecond seat assembly 15 are oriented opposite to each other across theboard frame 1. This mimics the positioning of opposing users playing with a traditional chessboard. - In reference to
FIGS. 1-2 , thefirst end panel 3 and thesecond end panel 4 are each mounted perpendicular to thebase panel 2. Thefirst end panel 3 and thesecond end panel 4 are positioned opposite to each other across thebase panel 2. When playing chess, one user sits upon thefirst seat assembly 14, adjacent to thefirst end panel 3. The other user sits upon thesecond seat assembly 15, adjacent to thesecond end panel 4. The leftlateral panel 5 is mounted to thebase panel 2, thefirst end panel 3, and thesecond end panel 4. The rightlateral panel 6 is mounted to thebase panel 2, thefirst end panel 3, and thesecond end panel 4. The leftlateral panel 5 and the rightlateral panel 6 are designed as step-shaped so that theinclined game board 10 traverses from thefirst end panel 3 to thesecond end panel 4 in a shape that resembles a mirrored staircase. The leftlateral panel 5 and the rightlateral panel 6 are positioned opposite to each other across thebase panel 2. This arrangement allows theinclined game board 10 to span the entire width of theboard frame 1. - In reference to
FIG. 3 , the present invention further comprises a plurality ofcorner fasteners 24. The plurality ofcorner fasteners 24 is used to hold theboard frame 1 together. Thefirst end panel 3 is attached to the leftlateral panel 5 by at least one of the plurality ofcorner fasteners 24. Similarly, thefirst end panel 3 is attached to the rightlateral panel 6 by at least one of the plurality ofcorner fasteners 24. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, two corner fasteners attach thefirst end panel 3 to the leftlateral panel 5 and two more corner fasteners attach thefirst end panel 3 to the rightlateral panel 6. Across thebase panel 2, thesecond end panel 4 is attached to the leftlateral panel 5 by at least one of the plurality ofcorner fasteners 24. Thesecond end panel 4 is also attached to the rightlateral panel 6 by at least one of the plurality ofcorner fasteners 24. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, two corner fasteners attach thesecond end panel 4 to the leftlateral panel 5 and two more corner fasteners attach thesecond end panel 4 to the rightlateral panel 6. - In reference to
