Abstract

A shoe retention system includes a shoe that is worn on a foot of a user. A strap is wrapped around an ankle of the user and the strap has a first end and a second end. A fastener is attached to the first end and the fastener engages the second end such that the strap forms a closed loop. The fastener retains the strap on the user's ankle. A retainer is movably coupled to the strap and releasably engages the shoe. The retainer prevents the shoe from coming off of the user's foot.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

Field of the Disclosure

The disclosure relates to retention devices and more particularly pertains to a new retention device for preventing a shoe from falling off of a user's foot.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shoe that is worn on a foot of a user. A strap is wrapped around an ankle of the user and the strap has a first end and a second end. A fastener is attached to the first end and the fastener engages the second end such that the strap forms a closed loop. The fastener retains the strap on the user's ankle. A retainer is movably coupled to the strap and releasably engages the shoe. The retainer prevents the shoe from coming off of the user's foot.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new retention device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the shoe retention system 10 generally comprises a shoe 12 that may be worn on a foot 14 of a user 16. The shoe 12 may have a counter 18 and a binding 20 attached to the counter 20. Additionally, the shoe 12 may be a shoe of any conventional design.
A strap 22 is provided that may be wrapped around an ankle 24 of the user 16 and the strap 22 has a first end 26 and a second end 28. A fastener 30 is attached to the first end 26 and the fastener 30 engages the second end 28 such that the strap 22 forms a closed loop. The fastener 30 retains the strap 22 on the user's ankle 24. The fastener 30 may comprise a buckle or the like. The strap 22 may have a plurality of colors for decorative purposes and to match various potential colors of the shoe 12. Additionally, the strap 22 may have images printed thereon to make the strap 22 visually appealing.
A retainer 32 is movably coupled to the strap 22 and the retainer 32 releasably engages the shoe 12. The retainer 32 prevents the shoe 12 from coming off of the user's foot 14. The retainer 32 comprises a slide 34 that has the strap 22 extending therethrough such that the slide 34 is slidably positioned on the strap 22. A clip 36 is coupled to the slide 34 such that the clip 36 extends downwardly from the strap 22. The clip 36 selectively engages the binding 20 on the counter 20 such that the shoe 12 is coupled to the strap 22.
In use, the shoe 12 is worn on the user's foot 14. The strap 22 is worn around the user's ankle 24. The clip 36 is attached to the shoe 12 to retain the shoe 12 on the user's foot 14. The shoe 12 may have become stretched or otherwise damaged thereby making the shoe 12 susceptible to falling off of the user's foot 14. The strap 22 and the clip 36 eliminate the possibility of the shoe 12 falling off of the user's foot 14. Additionally, the user 16 may be a user 16 having a prosthesis that does not allow for a snug fit of the shoe 12 on the prosthesis.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A shoe retention system configured to retain the shoe on a user, said system comprising:

a shoe configured to be worn on a foot of a user;

a strap being configured to be wrapped around an ankle of the user, said strap having a first end and a second end;

a fastener attached to said first end, said fastener engaging said second end such that said strap forms a closed loop, said fastener being configured to retain the strap on the user's ankle; and

a retainer movably coupled to said strap, said retainer releasably engaging said shoe, said retainer being configured to prevent the shoe from coming off of the user's foot, said retainer comprising a clip extending downwardly from said strap, said clip having a pair of jaws, at least one of said jaws being straight extending away from said strap wherein said one of said jaws is configured for abutting flat against the user when said one of said jaws is inserted into said shoe when said clip is coupled to said shoe.

2. The system according to claim 1, wherein said shoe has a counter and a binding attached to said counter.

3. The system according to claim 1, wherein said retainer comprises a slide having said strap extending therethrough such that said slide is slidably positioned on said strap.

4. The system according to claim 3, wherein:

said shoe has a counter and a binding attached to said counter; and

said clip being coupled to said slide such that said clip extends downwardly from said strap, said clip selectively engaging said binding on said counter such that said shoe is coupled to said strap.

5. A shoe retention system configured to retain the shoe on a user, said system comprising:

a shoe configured to be worn on a foot of a user, said shoe having a counter and a binding attached to said counter;

a retainer movably coupled to said strap, said retainer releasably engaging said shoe, said retainer being configured to prevent the shoe from coming off of the user's foot, said retainer comprising

a slide having said strap extending therethrough such that said slide is slidably positioned on said strap, and

a clip coupled to said slide such that said clip extends downwardly from said strap, said clip selectively engaging said binding on said counter such that said shoe is coupled to said strap, said clip having a pair of jaws, at least one of said jaws being straight extending away from said strap wherein said one of said jaws is configured for abutting flat against the user when said one of said jaws is inserted into said shoe when said clip is coupled to said shoe.
