Description
- 1. Field of the Disclosure
- The disclosure relates to luggage devices and more particularly pertains to a new luggage device for storing and carrying items in a device which is appealing to children and can be used for amusement while traveling.
- 2. Summary of the Disclosure
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a container having a bottom wall and a perimeter wall coupled to and extending upwardly from the bottom wall to define an interior space. A cover is coupled to the container such that the cover selectively covers the interior space. An exterior surface of the container and the cover is shaped to resemble a vehicle when the cover is in a closed position. Each of a plurality of wheels is coupled to the container.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a top front side perspective view of a children's luggage device according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a top front side perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure in an open position. -
FIG. 4 is a rear view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure taken along line 6-6 ofFIG. 5 . - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new luggage device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the children'sluggage device 10 generally comprises acontainer 12 having abottom wall 14 and aperimeter wall 16 coupled to and extending upwardly from thebottom wall 14 to define aninterior space 18. Apocket 20 is positioned in theinterior space 18. Thepocket 20 may be defined by apanel 22 having aperimeter edge 24 coupled to aperimeter 26 of thebottom wall 14. Acover 28 is coupled to thecontainer 12 such that thecover 28 selectively covers theinterior space 18 for enclosing items and allowing thecontainer 12 to be used as luggage. Aclosure 30 such as a zipper is provided to selectively secure thecover 28 in a closedposition 32. Anexterior surface 34 of thecontainer 12 and thecover 28 is shaped to resemble avehicle 36 when thecover 28 is in the closedposition 32. Further, surface indicia 38 may be provided to define vehicle features such as windows, or the like, to further enhance the appearance of thevehicle 36. Accessories such as aside mirror 42,headlight 44,tail fin 46, or other physical features found on conventional vehicles may be coupled to thecontainer 12 and thecover 28. - Each of a plurality of
wheels 48 is coupled to thecontainer 12. The plurality ofwheels 48 includes a pair offront wheels 50 and a pair ofrear wheels 52. Each of therear wheels 52 is rotatable relative to thecontainer 12 and each of thefront wheels 50 may also be rotatable relative to thecontainer 12. The plurality ofwheels 48 generally is positioned and shaped to resemble vehicle tires of thevehicle 36. Ahandle 54 is coupled to thecontainer 12. Thehandle 54 is coupled to and extends from afront end 56 of thecontainer 12. Thehandle 54 is retractable into thecontainer 12 in a conventional manner found in conventional luggage. Thehandle 54 has agrip 58 positioned adjacent to and extending from thefront end 56 of thecontainer 12 when thehandle 54 is in a fully retracted positioned 60 such that thegrip 58 is configured to resemble a front bumper of thevehicle 36. When thehandle 54 is extended and grasped, movement of thecontainer 12 may be facilitated by tilting thecontainer 12 onto therear wheels 52 and pulling or pushing such that thecontainer 12 rolls on therear wheels 52. - Each of a pair of
straps 62 has a respectivefirst end 64 coupled to thebottom wall 14 of thecontainer 12 proximate thefront wheels 50. Each of thestraps 62 has a respectivesecond end 66 coupled to thebottom wall 14 proximate therear wheels 52 such that thecontainer 12 is configured to be carried on a back of a user. Eachstrap 62 is positioned proximate an associatedlongitudinal side 68 of thebottom wall 14. Each of thefirst end 64 and thesecond end 66 of each of thestraps 62 is uncouplable from thecontainer 12 in a conventional manner using clips or the like. Astorage compartment 70 extends into thebottom wall 14 of thecontainer 12 and may be formed by a depression in abottom surface 72 of thebottom wall 14. Thestorage compartment 70 is accessible from an exterior of thecontainer 12 and may be covered by adoor 74 conventionally coupled to thecontainer 12 to selectively cover thestorage compartment 70. Thestorage compartment 70 is sized to hold and store thestraps 62 when thestraps 62 are uncoupled from thecontainer 12. - A
tag 76 is coupled to arear end 78 of thecontainer 12 such that thetag 76 is configured to resemble a license plate of thevehicle 36. Thetag 76 is configured for displaying identifyinginformation 80 such as name and address of the owner of thedevice 10. - In use, the
interior space 18 is used for holding items in a conventional manner. Thedevice 10 may be carried as a backpack or pulled using thehandle 54. During periods of non-use or during waiting periods while traveling, thedevice 10 the outward appearance of thevehicle 36 allows thedevice 10 to be pushed around by a child for play to prevent boredom. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
