Abstract

A children's luggage device stores and carries items in a device that is appealing to children and can be used for amusement while traveling. The device includes a container having a bottom wall and a perimeter wall coupled to and extending upwardly from the bottom wall to define an interior space. A cover is coupled to the container such that the cover selectively covers the interior space. An exterior surface of the container and the cover is shaped to resemble a vehicle when the cover is in a closed position. Each of a plurality of wheels is coupled to the container.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

1. Field of the Disclosure
The disclosure relates to luggage devices and more particularly pertains to a new luggage device for storing and carrying items in a device which is appealing to children and can be used for amusement while traveling.
2. Summary of the Disclosure
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a container having a bottom wall and a perimeter wall coupled to and extending upwardly from the bottom wall to define an interior space. A cover is coupled to the container such that the cover selectively covers the interior space. An exterior surface of the container and the cover is shaped to resemble a vehicle when the cover is in a closed position. Each of a plurality of wheels is coupled to the container.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new luggage device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the children's luggage device 10 generally comprises a container 12 having a bottom wall 14 and a perimeter wall 16 coupled to and extending upwardly from the bottom wall 14 to define an interior space 18. A pocket 20 is positioned in the interior space 18. The pocket 20 may be defined by a panel 22 having a perimeter edge 24 coupled to a perimeter 26 of the bottom wall 14. A cover 28 is coupled to the container 12 such that the cover 28 selectively covers the interior space 18 for enclosing items and allowing the container 12 to be used as luggage. A closure 30 such as a zipper is provided to selectively secure the cover 28 in a closed position 32. An exterior surface 34 of the container 12 and the cover 28 is shaped to resemble a vehicle 36 when the cover 28 is in the closed position 32. Further, surface indicia 38 may be provided to define vehicle features such as windows, or the like, to further enhance the appearance of the vehicle 36. Accessories such as a side mirror 42, headlight 44, tail fin 46, or other physical features found on conventional vehicles may be coupled to the container 12 and the cover 28.
Each of a plurality of wheels 48 is coupled to the container 12. The plurality of wheels 48 includes a pair of front wheels 50 and a pair of rear wheels 52. Each of the rear wheels 52 is rotatable relative to the container 12 and each of the front wheels 50 may also be rotatable relative to the container 12. The plurality of wheels 48 generally is positioned and shaped to resemble vehicle tires of the vehicle 36. A handle 54 is coupled to the container 12. The handle 54 is coupled to and extends from a front end 56 of the container 12. The handle 54 is retractable into the container 12 in a conventional manner found in conventional luggage. The handle 54 has a grip 58 positioned adjacent to and extending from the front end 56 of the container 12 when the handle 54 is in a fully retracted positioned 60 such that the grip 58 is configured to resemble a front bumper of the vehicle 36. When the handle 54 is extended and grasped, movement of the container 12 may be facilitated by tilting the container 12 onto the rear wheels 52 and pulling or pushing such that the container 12 rolls on the rear wheels 52.
Each of a pair of straps 62 has a respective first end 64 coupled to the bottom wall 14 of the container 12 proximate the front wheels 50. Each of the straps 62 has a respective second end 66 coupled to the bottom wall 14 proximate the rear wheels 52 such that the container 12 is configured to be carried on a back of a user. Each strap 62 is positioned proximate an associated longitudinal side 68 of the bottom wall 14. Each of the first end 64 and the second end 66 of each of the straps 62 is uncouplable from the container 12 in a conventional manner using clips or the like. A storage compartment 70 extends into the bottom wall 14 of the container 12 and may be formed by a depression in a bottom surface 72 of the bottom wall 14. The storage compartment 70 is accessible from an exterior of the container 12 and may be covered by a door 74 conventionally coupled to the container 12 to selectively cover the storage compartment 70. The storage compartment 70 is sized to hold and store the straps 62 when the straps 62 are uncoupled from the container 12.
A tag 76 is coupled to a rear end 78 of the container 12 such that the tag 76 is configured to resemble a license plate of the vehicle 36. The tag 76 is configured for displaying identifying information 80 such as name and address of the owner of the device 10.
In use, the interior space 18 is used for holding items in a conventional manner. The device 10 may be carried as a backpack or pulled using the handle 54. During periods of non-use or during waiting periods while traveling, the device 10 the outward appearance of the vehicle 36 allows the device 10 to be pushed around by a child for play to prevent boredom.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

I claim:

1. A children's luggage device comprising:

a container having a bottom wall and a perimeter wall coupled to and extending upwardly from said bottom wall to define an interior space;

a cover coupled to said container such that said cover selectively covers said interior space, an exterior surface of said container and said cover being shaped to resemble a vehicle when said cover is in a closed position;

a plurality of wheels coupled to said container.

2. The device of claim 1, further comprising said plurality of wheels including a pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels.

3. The device of claim 2, further comprising each of said rear wheels being rotatable relative to said container.

4. The device of claim 2, further comprising each of said front wheels being rotatable relative to said container.

5. The device of claim 1, further comprising said plurality of wheels being positioned and shaped to resemble vehicle tires.

6. The device of claim 2, further comprising a pair of straps, each of said straps having a respective first end coupled to said bottom wall of said container proximate said front wheels, each of said straps having a respective second end coupled to said bottom wall proximate said rear wheels such that said container is configured to be carried on a back of a user.

7. The device of claim 6, further comprising each said strap being positioned proximate an associated longitudinal side of said bottom wall.

8. The device of claim 1, further comprising a handle coupled to said container, said handle being coupled to and extending from a front end of said container.

9. The device of claim 8, further comprising said handle being retractable into said container.

10. The device of claim 9, further comprising said handle having a grip, said grip being positioned adjacent to and extending from said front end of said container when said handle is in a fully retracted positioned such that said grip is configured to resemble a front bumper of the vehicle.

11. The device of claim 1, further comprising a tag coupled to a rear end of said container such that said tag is configured to resemble a license plate of the vehicle, said tag being configured for displaying identifying information.

12. The device of claim 6, further comprising:

each of said first end and said second end of each of said straps being uncouplable from said container; and

a storage compartment extending into said bottom wall of said container, said storage compartment being accessible from an exterior of said container, said storage compartment being sized to hold and store said straps when said straps are uncoupled from said container.

13. The device of claim 1, further comprising a pocket positioned in said interior space.

14. A children's luggage device comprising:

a pocket positioned in said interior space;

a plurality of wheels coupled to said container, said plurality of wheels including a pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels, each of said rear wheels being rotatable relative to said container, each of said front wheels being rotatable relative to said container, said plurality of wheels being positioned and shaped to resemble vehicle tires;

a pair of straps, each of said straps having a respective first end coupled to said bottom wall of said container proximate said front wheels, each of said straps having a respective second end coupled to said bottom wall proximate said rear wheels such that said container is configured to be carried on a back of a user, each said strap being positioned proximate an associated longitudinal side of said bottom wall, each of said first end and said second end of each of said straps being uncouplable from said container;

a handle coupled to said container, said handle being coupled to and extending from a front end of said container, said handle being retractable into said container, said handle having a grip, said grip being positioned adjacent to and extending from said front end of said container when said handle is in a fully retracted positioned such that said grip is configured to resemble a front bumper of the vehicle;

a tag coupled to a rear end of said container such that said tag is configured to resemble a license plate of the vehicle, said tag being configured for displaying identifying information; and
