Abstract
This invention pertains to, but is not limited to handguns and non-lethal weapons, and could include hand-held tools and other devices. The ERGONOMIC HANDGUN concealed handgun frame modification allows more discreet carry of firearms by conforming to human body contours. These firearms can include, but are not limited to semi-autos, revolvers, single shot, derringers and other types of non-lethal weapons or any tool, apparatus or device carried on a person, whether in a holster, pouch, pocket or other means of holding the device in a secure manner, whether concealed or visible.
Description
-
- Provisional Patent Application No. 61/685,477
- This invention relates to ergonomic improvements for hand held firearms, weapons and devices. Invention is not limited to firearms, weapons, and devices, but could also be used for other devices carried on the person.
- Having had experience with carrying handguns both concealed and visible, I, Dan Soults, recognized a need for an improvement in concealment and ease of exposed carry; many personal friends and acquaintances were looking for better concealment. Until this invention, the answer was a smaller and perhaps less than adequate weapon or covering device. Also, problems existed with exposed carry weapons interfering with movements, including the possibility of an unauthorized person taking possession of a weapon. Having the grip curved to fit the wearer will make the weapon less vulnerable.
- Pistols, handguns, and other weapons are widely used by law enforcement, the military, security personnel and the public.
- Most states in the U.S. have concealed carry permits. This makes it legal for qualified citizens who have no felony record to carry firearms for self defense. These weapons are best carried in an unobtrusive and comfortable manner. The inherent size of a suitable weapon makes concealment and ergonomics very important.
- Off duty police and undercover agents often carry their weapons concealed. Law enforcement investigations could be impeded if an officer is recognized and his status is revealed. Also, individuals in public places seeing or detecting a handgun may become concerned.
- Better concealment is always a desire, while easy access to a weapon by its carrier is also a main consideration. Whether carried concealed or in an openly visible manner, the bulkiness of said art is a factor in the ergonomic consideration. Concealed carry requires consideration for said concealment, such as size, shape and protrusions and other factors.
- When the art is carried in an open manner the shape of said art can interfere with the wearer or come in contact with objects and articles in the environment, such as vehicle seat belts, clothing, and virtually any object in the user's area.
- It is the intent of this invention to provide a secure, functional hand grip and weapon profile that is substantially more concealable than present art. Also, but not limited to that, is less possible interference from objects in the environment of use that could come in contact with art carried in a visible fashion.
- This invention pertains to, but is not limited to, handguns and non-lethal weapons, and could include hand held tools and other devices. The ergonomically improved concealed handgun frame modification allows more discreet concealed carry of firearms by conforming to human body contours. The ergonomically improved apparatus is manufactured in a curve to conform to the human body, thereby making it less visible, less vulnerable to interference from entanglements or appropriation for unauthorized use, and allowing more freedom of movement for individuals required to carry equipment and firearms: police, security and military personnel and others.

FIG. 1 is side view of current and proposed embodiment of pistol. -
FIG. 2 is rear view of current embodiment of pistol. -
FIG. 3 is rear view of proposed embodiment of pistol. -

FIG. 6 is rear view of current embodiment of revolver. -
FIG. 7 is rear view of proposed embodiment of revolver. -
FIG. 8 is rear view of proposed embodiment of revolver including optional sight location. - The present invention relates to concealment of pistols, handguns, revolvers, derringers and other types of weapons and non-lethal or other handheld devices, and in particular, to altering the frame of a pistol so as to dramatically alter the visible outline of items carried in a concealed fashion.
- The pistol grip of any pistol can be redesigned to follow a curve. This curve will follow the natural curve of the human body and allow a smooth profile outline when placed in a pocket or concealed holster. This invention is adaptable to existing pistol handgrip designs.
- Optional locations for sighting devices have also been taken into consideration. These are not limited to, but could also include dot and laser sights. Modified frames could include, but are not limited to steel, plastic, polymer or aluminum.
