2 Claims.
'Ihe main objects of this invention are:
First, to provide an improved carton or container for baked goods and the like having windows therein so that the contents of the box may be inspected without removing the same therefrom.
Second, to provide acarton or container of this character which is attractive in appearance and simple and economical in its parts, the arrangement being such that the box is not weakcned by the windows'.
Third, to provide a container having these characteristics which may be shipped in the flat and readily set up for use.
Objects relating to details and economies of my invention will appear from the description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a carton embodying the features of my invention, a cake being shown in the carton for purposes of illustration.

Referring to the drawing, in the illustrated embodiment of my invention, numeral I in general indicates an integral blank of paper board, container board or the like which is cut and scored to provide a top 2 having side walls or panels 3 and 4 and end walls or panels I, I extending therefrom. The end walls or panels are provided with tuck-in bottom flaps 6. I provide the side wall 3 with locking end aps 1, 1, the side wall 4 being provided with plain end flaps B. 8.
The bottom 9 is connected to the side wall 4 and is provided with an inner side wall ilap Ill having locking end naps II, II adapted to be interlocked with the corresponding end dans 1, I of the adjacent side wall 3.
I provide the top 2 with four similar diamondshaped windows I2 extending into the side walls I and 4 and end walls 5, 5 as shown. The windows are cut so as to provide triangular corner supports I3 and diagonal supports I4, I4 crossing at the center of the top. 'I'he corner supports and diagonal supports act to preserve the shape and strength of the top of the carton.
I cement or glue a square sheet of transparent material I5 to the inner side of the blank I so as to provide panes for the windows I2. 'I'he sheet of transparent material is arranged with its corners at the apexes of the windows in the side walls as shown. 'Ihe contacting surfaces of the transparent sheet I5 and the blank I are firmly cemented or glued together so that the transparent sheet constitutes a substantial rein- With the parts arranged in this manner, the strength of the carton is increased rather than diminished by the provision of the windows.
The blank I is folded into erected position as shown by Figs. 1 and 2, the inner side wall flap Ill being provided with a V-notch I6 so that the apex of the window in the corresponding side wall 3 is not covered by the flap. The cake I 1 is placed in the carton by opening one of the end walls 5. The cake is protected from dust and handling by the carton and may be readily inspected through the windows I2, the side wall window extensions permitting the inspection of the sides of the cake. The cake is readily removed from the carton by opening one ot the end walls 5.
I have illustrated and described my improvements in an embodiment which I have found very practical. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe other embodiments or adaptations as it is believed this disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my improvements as may be desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: A
1. A carton comprising an integral blank having a top, side and end walls depending from said top, tuck-in .bottom flaps on said end walls, end flaps on said side walls, a bottom connected to one side wall, an inner side wall flap extending from said bottom and provided with end flaps interlocked with the corresponding end flaps of the adjacent side wall, the top having diamondshaped windows extending into the side and end walls and providing triangular comer supports and diagonal supports crossing at the center of the top.rand a square sheet of transparent material cemented to the inner side of said blank and providing panes for said windows and reinforcing for said top and side walls, the sheet being arranged with its corners at the apexes of the windows in the side walls.

A carton comprising a blank having a top, side and end walls depending from said top, tuckin bottom flaps on said end walls, end Iiaps on said side walls, a bottom connected to one side wall, an inner side wall nap extending from said bottom and provided with end naps interlocked with the corresponding end flaps of the adjacent side wall, the top having diamond-shaped windows extending into the side and end walls and `providing triangular corner supports and diagonal supports crossing at the center of the top, and a sheet of transparent material cemented to the inner side of said blank and providing panes for said windows and reinforcing for said top and side walls.
