Abstract
The embodiments of the present invention are directed to an organizer for cosmetic applicator, in particular, make-up brushes, where the organizer itself is also a make-up brush that can be used by the user.
Description
- This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/615,189, entitled “Bella Rush Beauty Brush” filed Mar. 23, 2012 which is hereby incorporated by reference.
- The embodiments of the present invention relate generally to an organizer for cosmetic applicators, and, more particularly, an organizer that can be used itself as a cosmetic applicator.
- According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a makeup brush holder apparatus having a body, a cover, a base and a plurality of applicators. The body has an interior region and an external wall surrounding the interior region, the body having a proximal end and a distal end. The cover is fabricated for releasable attachment to the proximal end of the body. The cover has an exterior surface on which is located a brush head. The base is fabricated for releasable attachment to the distal end of the body. The plurality of cosmetic applicators of make-up brushes are housed within the interior region of the body wherein the plurality of brushes are protected from external damage by the body and the cover and base when the cover and base are attached to the body.
- According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided a makeup brush holder apparatus having a body, a cover and means for opening the body to allow a plurality of brushes to be removed from the body. The body has an interior region and an external wall surrounding the interior region, the body having a proximal end and a distal end. The plurality of make-up brushes are housed within the interior region of the body wherein the plurality of brushes are protected from external damage by the body.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of theorganizer 10 of the present invention in an unopened state.FIG. 2 is a perspective view of theorganizer 10 shown inFIG. 1 of the present invention in a closed state. Theorganizer 10 includes abody 12, acover 14, abase 16 and a plurality of cosmetic applicators (not shown). In a preferred embodiment, the cosmetic applicators are make-up brushes. Theorganizer 10 itself is also a make-up brush that can be used as such. Thebody 12 has an interior region 20 (seeFIG. 2 ) and anexternal wall 22 surrounding the interior region. Thebody 12 also has aproximal end 24 and adistal end 26. Thecover 14 is fabricated for releasable attachment to theproximal end 24 of thebody 12. - Preferably, the
cover 14 has anexterior surface 28 on which is located abrush head 30. Thebase 16 is fabricated for releasable attachment to thedistal end 26 of thebody 12. Thecosmetic applicators 18 are housed within theinterior region 20 of thebody 12 where they are protected from external damage by thebody 12 and thebase 16 andcover 14 when they are attached to thebody 12. In a preferred embodiment, a palette 32 (seeFIG. 2 ) is located in theinterior region 20 of thebody 12. As shown, it may be a removable piece or alternatively, it may be formed as an integral part of theinterior region 20 of thebody 12. Thepalette 32 has a plurality of differently sizedholes interior region 20 of thebody 12. While four holes are illustrated, thepalette 32 may have more or less depending on its application. Shown in the illustrated palette is alarge hole 34 preferably for a brush such as a foundation brush.Smaller holes - The
cover 14 andbase 16 can be fabricated to be screwed onto the respective ends of thebody 12, or snap fitted or friction fitted thereon or any other mechanism for joining the pieces together. In particular, thecover 14 has asection 18 that fits inside the body in a concentric arrangement. In a preferred embodiment, as illustrated, thebody 12 is cylindrical in shape. -
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the organizer 110 of the present invention in an unopened state andFIG. 4 is a perspective view of the organizer 110 shown inFIG. 3 in an open state. In this preferred embodiment, the body 112 of the organizer 110 is formed as two substantiallyidentical halves first edge 118 and asecond edge 120 where thefirst edges 118 are permanently joined together and thesecond edges 120 are not. Asecuring mechanism 122 secures thesecond edges 120 together in a first state (shown inFIG. 3 ) and releases thesecond edges 120 in a second state (shown inFIG. 4 ). Thesecuring mechanism 122 may be a latch-type device as is well known to those of ordinary skill in the art. Thebase 116 andcover 114 may be removably attached to the body 112 or they may be a nonremovable feature. To gain access to theapplicators 18 in the interior region of the body 112, thesecuring mechanism 122 is opened to release thesecond edges 120 of the halves from each other so that the body 112 can be opened like a clam shell. A palette (not shown) may also be used with this embodiment. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of another embodiment of theorganizer 210 of the present invention in an unopened state andFIG. 6 is a perspective view of theorganizer 210 shown inFIG. 5 in an open state. In this preferred embodiment, the body 212 of theorganizer 210 is formed in two halves, aproximal half 224 and adistal half 226. Preferably, the proximal half includes the cover 214 as an integral part thereof and the distal half includes the base 216 as an integral part thereof. Otherwise, they may be separate pieces detachable from the body 212. A securing mechanism secures the proximal and distal half's together. The securing mechanism may be a latch-type device as is well known to those of ordinary skill in the art. Alternatively, it may be a snap-type connection or a screw-type connection. To gain access to the applicators in the interior region of the body 212, the proximal half is detached from the distal half. A palette may also be used with this embodiment. - The
organizer separate base 16,cover 14 andbody 12, thebase 16 may have a length of about 2 inches, thecover 14 may have a length of about 3 inches and thebody 12 may have a length of about 4.5 inches. Its width ranges from about 2 inches to about 5 inches. The width of the body 212 need not be constant throughout the length of the body 212 but may be narrowed or expanded. FIG. 8 is a perspective view of the distal half of the organizer shown inFIG. 5 . A portion of the proximal half of the body is slid over a portion of the distal half in a telescoping fit. As seen inFIG. 7 , a rim may be provided on an exterior surface of the distal half and a complementary groove may be formed on an interior surface of the proximal half so that they are coupled together by the rim and groove and may be separated from one another by pulling the halves apart. Preferably, a palette is located in the distal half to old the make-up brushes in a predefined arrangement. Alternatively, no palette need be included and the make-up brushes may be loosely held in the body. -
FIG. 9 is a perspective view of another embodiment of theorganizer 310 of the present invention in an unopened state. -
FIG. 10 is a perspective view of theorganizer 310 shown inFIG. 7 in an open state. In the preferred embodiment, a removabledistal cap 316 is provided at the body's distal end to gain access to the interior of thebody 312. Thecap 316 may be coupled to thebody 312 in any fashion such as snap fitted or screwed on, for example, or it may have a telescoping fit as described with reference to the embodiments shown inFIGS. 5-8 . The proximal end of the body has a make-up brush thereon. A palette such as that described with reference to the previous figures, may be provided in the interior of thecap 316 so that when thecap 316 is removed from the body, the plurality of brushes have ends fitted in the palette located in thecap 316 so that when the cap is removed, so are the brushes and they are kept in an organized manner by the palette. Alternatively, instead of a removable distal cap, the proximal end of the brush may be removable to gain access to the interior of the body.
Claims (16)
1. A makeup brush holder apparatus comprising:
a body having an interior region and an external wall surrounding the interior region, the body having a proximal end and a distal end;
a cover fabricated for releasable attachment to the proximal end of the body, the cover having an exterior surface on which is located a brush head;
a base fabricated for releasable attachment to the distal end of the body; and
a plurality of cosmetic applicators of make-up brushes housed within the interior region of the body wherein the plurality of brushes are protected from external damage by the body and the cover and base when the cover and base are attached to the body.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the cover is screwed onto the proximal end of the body and the base is screwed onto the distal end of the body.
3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the cover is snap fitted onto the proximal end of the body and the base is snap fitted onto the distal end of the body.
4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the body is cylindrical in shape.
5. The apparatus of claim 4 further comprising a palette locatable in the interior region of the body, the palette having a plurality of holes particularly sized for handles of particular brushes, so that the palette holds the brushes in place in the interior region of the body.
6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the body has a length ranging from about 7 inches to about 12 inches.
7. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the body has a length of about 9.5 inches.
8. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the cosmetic applicators comprise make-up brushes.
9. A makeup brush holder apparatus comprising:
a body having an interior region and an external wall surrounding the interior region, the body having a proximal end and a distal end;
a plurality of make-up brushes housed within the interior region of the body wherein the plurality of brushes are protected from external damage by the body; and
means for opening the body to allow at least one of the plurality of brushes to be removed from the body.
10. The apparatus of claim 9 further comprising:
a cover fabricated for releasable attachment to the proximal end of the body, the cover having an exterior surface on which is located a brush head; and
a base fabricated for releasable attachment to the distal end of the body.
11. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein the body is formed by two substantially identical halves wherein each half of the body has a first edge and a second edge wherein the first edges are permanently joined together and the second edges are not wherein the means for opening the body comprises a latch for non-permanently securing the second edges together to create the interior region of the body.
12. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein the means for opening the body comprises a removable cap located at a distal end of the body.
13. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the proximal end of the body comprises a make-up brush.
14. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein the body is formed by a proximal half and a distal half which can be detachably coupled to each other.
15. The apparatus of claim 14 wherein he means for opening the body comprises external threads on a proximal end of the distal half which couple to internal threads o the distal end of the proximal half.
16. The apparatus of claim 12 further comprising a palette located inside the cap, the palette having a plurality of holes particularly sized for handles of particular brushes, so that the palette holds the brushes in place in the interior region of the body.
