Abstract
A lid of a canteen includes a cap, a drinking spout and a pulling member. The drinking spout is pivotally fixed in an accommodating groove of a pivotal base of the cap and the pulling member is fixed on connecting base of the cap. The accommodating groove has two sides respectively formed with a positioning groove for fitting a pivotal projection formed at two sides of the drinking spout respectively, and a recess formed in the bottom for fitting a waterproof washer. The drinking spout has two walking projections moving in sliding grooves formed in the pulling member, which includes a first notch and a second notch. As the drinking spout is driven by the pulling member to toward or backward form the cap, it can be pulled out or sheltered in the accommodating groove without being touched so that it can be hygienically.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- This invention relates to a lid of a canteen, particularly to one having a drinking spout removing from a cap without being touched, enabling a user to drink liquid in the canteen conveniently and hygienically.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- Commonly, in order to prevent liquid (such as water, juices or beverages) slopping when a canteen is tilted, a lid is employed to close or screw up with an opening of the canteen. When a user is to drink the liquid in the canteen, he (she) has to take off the lid first before drinking, not so convenient in use. Thus, as shown in
FIGS. 1 and 2 , an improved conventional lid with a drinking spout has been devised to overcome the defect mentioned previously. It is provided with acap 10 and adrinking spout 13. Deeply cut in a top of thecap 10 is arecess 11 that is provided with anexit 110 bored in the bottom and apivotal hole 111 formed in two sidewalls respectively. Agroove 12 is also dug in the top of thecap 10 to communicate with therecess 11, with a depth shorter than that of therecess 11. Anair hole 120 is bored in the bottom of thegroove 12. Thedrinking spout 13 is pivotally engaged with therecess 11, provided with apassage 130, a revolvingportion 131 formed at a lower end, apivotal projection 132 formed at two sides of the revolvingportion 131 respectively, and ablocking bar 133 projected from one sidewall for being correspondingly inserted in theair hole 120. The lid is used to close up amain body 14, with theexit 110 connected with astraw 15. When a user is to drink the liquid in themain body 14, he (she) needs to use a finger touching a free end of thedrinking spout 13 to push it up. By the time, with thepivotal projections 132 functioning as an axis, thedrinking spout 13 is removed from thegroove 12 of thecap 10, with thepassage 130 of thedrinking spout 13 exactly corresponding to theexit 110 in therecess 11 of thecap 10. Then the liquid in themain body 14 can be drank out through thedrinking spout 13. However, using a finger to directly touch and push thedrinking spout 13 can aptly contaminate thedrinking spout 13 by bacteria on the finger, possible to affect health. Moreover, thedrinking spout 13 is also easy to be contaminated and dusted as it is exposed to the air without any protection. - The object of this invention is to offer a convenient and hygiene lid of a canteen.
- The main characteristics of the invention are a cap, a drinking spout, a pulling member and a pressing member. The cap is provided with a pivotal base having an accommodating groove, a positioning groove formed in two sidewalls of the accommodating groove respectively, a recess formed in the bottom, a projecting bar located at the bottom with a through hole to communicate with the recess, a connecting base located on the cap, and a pivotal ear possessing a pivotal hole and an inclined surface facing one side of the accommodating groove. The drinking spout is pivotally set in the accommodating groove of the pivotal base, provided with a lengthwise passage, a walking projection and a pivotal projection formed on two sidewalls respectively, and a waterproof washer installed in the recess under the drinking spout. The pulling member is pivotally installed on the connecting base, provided with a pivotal ear formed at two sides, a pivotal hole bored in each pivotal ear, a sliding groove cut in two corresponding sides respectively, a first notch formed at the bottom of each sliding groove, and a second notch formed at the top of each sliding groove. The second notch has the bottom surface formed inclined.
- The pivotal base is further provided with a locking portion, an opening formed under a free end of the locking portion, an engaging groove formed in the inner wall of the locking portion, and a pair of pivotal ears formed at the end of the lower portion and respectively bored with a bolt hole. A pressing member is assembled in the nearly C-shaped opening, provided with a locking member located at the top to engage with an engaging groove formed in the inner wall of the locking portion, a through hole bored in the bottom, and a locking groove cut in the inner wall. A torsion spring is installed between the pivotal ears, with one end resting on the upper surface of the cap and another end confined in the locking groove of the pressing member. A bolt is then inserted in the bolt holes of the pivotal ears, the torsion spring and the through hole of the pressing member, enabling the pressing member pivotally connected with the cap.
- The pivotal base is further provided with a recessed notch formed in the top, with a protruded wall built on the recessed notch and an engagement slot cut in the top of the protruded wall. The pulling member is further provided with a lengthwise fixing ridge formed at the top inner wall to engage with the engagement slot of the pivotal base.

FIGS. 3˜5 , a preferred embodiment of a lid of a canteen in the present invention includes acap 2, adrinking spout 3, a pullingmember 4 and apressing member 5. - The
cap 2 is provided with apivotal base 20 extending upward on an upper surface, aprojecting bar 21 located at the bottom, a connectingbase 22 set on the upper surface, Thepivotal base 20 is consisted of alocking portion 23 formed in an upper portion, an opening 24 formed under the free end of thelocking portion 23, anengaging groove 25 formed in the inner wall of thelocking portion 23, a pair ofpivotal ears 26 formed at one side of a lower portion to correspond to thelocking portion 23, and arecessed notch 27 formed in the upper portion near thelocking portion 23. Thepivotal base 20 is further provided with anaccommodating groove 200 in an inclined wall, apositioning groove 201 formed in two sidewalls of theaccommodating groove 200 respectively, and arecess 202 formed in the bottom. Bored through the center of the projectingbar 21 to communicate with therecess 202 is a throughhole 210. The connectingbase 22 possesses apivotal hole 220 and aninclined surface 221 partly facing theaccommodating groove 200. Each of thepivotal ears 26 is bored with an alignedbolt hole 260. Therecessed notch 27 includes aprotruded wall 270 in an intermediate section and anengagement slot 271 cut in the top of theprotruded wall 270. - The
drinking spout 3 is pivotally set in theaccommodating groove 200 of thepivotal base 20, provided with alengthwise passage 30, awalking projection 31 and apivotal projection 32 extended from two sidewalls respectively, and awaterproof washer 33 installed in therecess 202. - The pulling
member 4 is pivotally installed on thepivotal base 20, provided with apivotal ear 40 formed at two sides of the bottom respectively, apivotal hole 41 bored in each of thepivotal ears 40 for being inserted with apivot 410, and asliding groove 42 cut in two corresponding sides respectively. Afirst notch 43 is formed at the bottom of each of thesliding grooves 42 and asecond notch 44 is formed at the top of each of thesliding grooves 42. The bottom surface of thesecond notch 44 is formed inclined. The pullingmember 4 is additionally provided with a round concave 45 formed at two corresponding outside walls respectively, and alateral fixing ridge 46 formed at the top inner wall to engage with theengagement slot 271 of thepivotal base 20. - The
pressing member 5 is assembled in the opening 24 of thepivotal base 20, provided with alocking member 50 located at the top to engage with theengaging groove 25 of thelocking portion 23, a throughhole 51 bored in the bottom, alocking groove 52, atorsion spring 53, and abolt 54 inserted in thebolt holes 260 of thepivotal ears 26, thetorsion spring 53 and the throughhole 51. - In assembling, as shown in
FIGS. 3-5 , thewaterproof washer 33 is first put in therecess 202 of thepivotal base 20 of thecap 2 and then thedrinking spout 3 is installed in theaccommodating groove 200 of thepivotal base 20, with thepivotal connecting projections 32 respectively fitted in thepositioning grooves 201 so that thedrinking spout 3 is pivotally combined with thecap 2, able to be turned to stay in theaccommodating groove 200. Next the pullingmember 4 is pivotally connected with the connectingbase 22, with thepivotal ears 40 outwardly attached to the connectingbase 22 and thepivotal hole 220 of thepivotal ear 22 exactly aligned to thepivotal holes 41 of the pullingmember 4. Thepivot 410 is successively inserted in thepivotal hole 220 and thepivotal holes 41 so that the pullingmember 4 is pivotally connected with the connectingbase 22. The pullingmember 4 can be swayed to get close to thedrinking spout 3 to enable thewalking projections 31 to move through thesecond notches 44 to move into thesliding grooves 42, as shown inFIG. 10 , so that the pullingmember 4 can cover on thedrinking spout 3, as shown inFIG. 5 . Thefixing projection 46 of the pullingmember 4 is next forced slightly to lock in theengagement slot 271 of therecessed notch 27, making the pullingmember 4 positioned on thepivotal base 20 of thecap 2. Then thetorsion spring 53 is established between thepivotal ears 26 of thepivotal base 20, with one end resting on the upper surface of thecap 2. Thepressing member 5 is placed in theopening 24 under the lockingportion 23 of thepivotal base 20, with thetorsion spring 53 attaching on one side of thepressing member 5 to correspond to the throughhole 51 of thepressing member 5 and having another end confined in the lockinggroove 52 of the pressing member. Finally thebolt 54 is inserted through the bolt holes 260 of thepivotal ears 26 and the throughhole 51, with the lockingportion 50 of thepressing member 5 engaged with the engaginggroove 25 of the lockingportion 23, making thepressing member 5 fixed with thepivotal base 20. Thus, the assembly of the lid is finished. - In using, as shown in
FIGS. 5˜10 , thecap 2 is first screwed together with acanteen body 60 and astraw 61 is jointed with the projectingbar 21 of thecap 2 to extend down to the bottom of thecanteen body 60. When a user wants to drink liquid (water, juice or beverages) in thecanteen body 60, he (she) just needs to keep fingers holding theround concaves 45 at two sides of the pullingmember 4 to outwardly pull the upper portion of the pullingmember 4. While the pullingmember 4 is pulled outwards, with thepivot 410 used as an axis, thedrinking spout 3 is to be spontaneously moved owing to the walkingprojections 31 restricted in the slidinggrooves 42. And as shown inFIG. 6 , thedrinking spout 3 is to outward by means of thepivotal projections 32 functioning as axes. As thedrinking spout 3 is driven by the pullingmember 4 to contact theinclined surface 221 of the connectingbase 22, it is to stop moving, with the bottom of thepassage 30 of thedrinking spout 3 facing the throughhole 210 of thecap 2, as shown inFIG. 7 . Then the pullingmember 4 is further pulled down to force the walkingprojections 31 to move out of thefirst notches 43, enabling thedrinking spout 3 freed from the pullingmember 4 so that the pullingmember 4 can move down further by itself independent from thedrinking spout 3, as shown inFIG. 8 . By the time, a user can start drinking the liquid flowing through the straw from thecanteen body 60 by using thedrinking spout 3. According to the processes described above, thedrinking spout 3 can be properly positioned for a user to drink without being touched by fingers. On the contrary, if thedrinking spout 3 is to be stored, pushing the pullingmember 4 upward is the only job. When the pullingmember 4 is pushed sufficiently close to thedrinking spout 3, the walkingprojections 31 of thedrinking spout 3 are to move through thefirst notches 43 into the slidinggrooves 42 of the pullingmember 4, as shown inFIG. 7 . And thedrinking spout 3 is to be driven by the pullingmember 4 to move upward until being completely sheltered when the pullingmember 4 is further pulled upwards, as shown inFIGS. 5 and 6 . Thus, thedrinking spout 3 is never to be touched no matter whether it is pulled out for drinking or sheltered for storing, used conveniently and hygienically. - Besides, It is to be noted that suppose the
drinking spout 3 is incidentally pulled upward to rest in a stored status shown inFIG. 9 , a user just needs to push the pullingmember 4 toward thedrinking spout 3 so as to enable the walkingprojections 31 to move from thesecond notches 44 into the slidinggrooves 42, as shown inFIG. 10 . The pullingmember 4 can be also engaged with thepivotal base 20 to protect thedrinking spout 3. - While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
Claims (3)
1. A lid of a canteen, said lid comprising:
a cap provided with a pivotal base having an accommodating groove, a positioning groove formed in two sidewalls of said accommodating groove respectively, a recess formed in a bottom of said accommodating groove, a projecting bar located at a bottom of said cap and bored with a through hole to communicate with said recess, a connecting base formed on said cap, said connecting base further provided with a pivotal ear that is provided with a pivotal hole and an inclined surface facing one side of said accommodating groove;
a drinking spout pivotally set in said accommodating groove of said cap and provided with a lengthwise passage, a walking projection and a pivotal projection formed on two sidewalls of said drinking spout respectively, a waterproof washer installed in said recess under said drinking spout; and
a pulling member pivotally installed on said connecting base of said cap and provided with a pivotal ear formed at two sides of a bottom respectively, a pivotal hole bored in each said pivotal ear, a sliding groove cut in two corresponding sides of said pulling member respectively, a first notch formed at a bottom of each said sliding groove, a second notch formed at a top of each said sliding grooves, a bottom surface of said second notch formed inclined.

The lid of a canteen as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said pivotal base is further provided with a locking portion, an opening formed under a free end of said locking portion, an engaging groove formed in an inner wall of said locking portion, a pair of pivotal ears formed on one side of a lower portion of said pivotal base opposite to said pivotal ear and respectively bored with a bolt hole, a pressing member assembled in said opening under said locking portion of said pivotal base and provided with a locking member located at a top to engage with an engaging groove formed in an inner wall of said locking portion, a through hole bored in a bottom of said pressing member, a locking groove cut in said pressing member, a torsion spring installed between said pivotal ears of said pivotal base with one end resting on an upper surface of said cap and another end confined in said locking groove of said pressing member, a bolt inserted in said bolt holes of said pivotal ears of said pivotal base and said torsion spring and said through hole of said pressing member.
3. The lid of a canteen as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said pivotal base is further provided with a recessed notch formed in a top with a protruded wall having an engagement slot cut in a top, and said pulling member is further provided with a lateral fixing ridge formed at a top inner wall to engage with said engagement slot of said pivotal base.
