Abstract
A seat frame assembly is disclosed to include a base frame, which has two extension bars arranged in parallel at two sides, a back frame, which has a pivot axle transversely disposed on the middle and pivotally coupled between the extension bars of the base frame, and two support members coupled between two transversely extending bottom connection tubes of the base frame and the pivot axle of the back frame.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to seat frame structures and more particularly to a seat frame assembly, which has a pivoted back frame that prevents stress concentration when supporting the back of the user sitting on the seat frame assembly.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- A conventional seat or chair generally comprises a seat frame structure formed of wooden bars or metal bars, and covering members covering the seat frame structure and stuffed of a soft or flexible stuffing material. This design of seat or chair has drawbacks. Because the wooden bar or metal bars are fixedly connected to one another, the tilting angle of the back of the seat or chair is not adjustable to fit the user's back in different tilting angles. Further, the wooden bars or metal bars do not facilitate ventilation. These drawbacks are more apparent when the seat frame structure is used in a legless chair or traditional Japanese seat.
- The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a seat frame assembly, which allows free adjustment of the back frame to fit the tilting angle of the user's back. It is another object of the present invention to provide a seat frame assembly, which facilitates ventilation.
- To achieve these and other objects of the present invention, the seat frame assembly comprises a base frame, which has two extension bars arranged in parallel at two sides, a back frame, which has a pivot axle transversely disposed on the middle and pivotally coupled between the extension bars of the base frame, and two support members coupled between two transversely extending bottom connection tubes of the base frame and the pivot axle of the back frame. Further, the base frame and the back frame each are comprised of two side frame plates and a plurality of connection tubes connected between the side frame plates. The connection tubes facilitate ventilation.

FIG. 2 is an elevational assembly view of the seat frame assembly in accordance with the present invention. -
FIG. 3 is a schematic drawing of the present invention, showing covering members covered on the seat frame assembly. -
FIG. 4 is a schematic drawing of the present invention, showing the back frame tilted relative to the base frame and the support members. -
FIG. 5 illustrates the base frame of the seat frame assembly affixed to a stand according to the present invention. -
FIG. 6 is a sectional side view of the seat frame assembly in accordance with the present invention. -
FIG. 7 is a schematic rear side view of the present invention, showing the distribution of the bearing points. - Referring to
FIGS. 1-4 , a seat frame assembly in accordance with the present invention is shown comprised of abase frame 10, aback frame 20, and twosupport members 30. - The
base frame 10 comprises twoside frame plates 11 arranged in parallel at two sides, eachside frame plate 11 having a plurality ofmounting holes 13 arranged in line, twoextension bars 12 respectively formed integral with and extending from theside frame plates 11, eachextension bar 12 having apivot hole 14 at the distal end, a plurality offirst connection tubes 15 and twosecond connection tubes 150 respectively coupled between themounting holes 13 of the twoside frame plates 11 and arranged in parallel, and two locatingblocks 16 respectively fixedly mounted on the twosecond connection tubes 150 at the rear side of thebase frame 10. - The
back frame 20 comprises twoside frame plates 21 arranged in parallel at two sides, eachside frame plate 21 having a plurality of mountingholes 22 spaced along the length and apivot hole 23 on the middle, a plurality ofconnection tubes 24 respectively connected between the mounting holes 22.of the twoside frame plate 21, apivot axle 25 mounted in thepivot holes 14 of theextension bars 12 of thebase frame 10 and thepivot holes 23 of theside frame plates 21 of theback frame 20 to pivotally secure theback frame 20 to thebase frame 10, and a locatingblock 26 affixed to thepivot axle 25 on the middle. - The
support members 30 each have a top end respectively provided with apivot hole 32 and pivotally coupled to thepivot axle 25 of theback frame 20 and stopped at one end of the locatingblock 26 at thepivot axle 25, and a bottom end coupled to the twosecond connection tubes 150 of thebase frame 10 and respectively stopped against the two distal ends of the locatingblocks 16 at thesecond connection tubes 150 of thebase frame 10. Further, connection tubes 31 are connected between the twosupport members 30. - Referring to
FIG. 3 again, coveringmembers 40˜43 are covered on thebase frame 10, theback frame 20 and thesupport members 30. The coveringmembers base frame 10 and theback frame 20 can be formed of a cloth or leather covering stuffed with sponge or foamed rubber. The coveringmember 41 for theside frame plates 11 andextension bars 12 of thebase frame 10 can be an elastomer (ethylene vinyl acetate or rubber) directly molded on theside frame plates 11 andextension bars 12 of thebase frame 10. The coveringmember 43 for thesupport members 30 can a flexible plastic sheath directly sleeved onto thesupport members 30. - Further, the locating
blocks 16 that are affixed to thesecond connection tubes 150 of thebase frame 10 prohibit thesupport members 30 from sliding along thesecond connection tubes 150. - Referring to
FIGS. 4 and 5 , the invention can be made in the form of a legless chair or traditional Japanese chair, as shown inFIG. 4 . Alternatively, astand 50 can be fastened to the bottom side of the base frame of the seat frame assembly to form a chair, as shown inFIG. 5 . When the user is sitting on a chair based on the seat frame assembly of the present invention with the back rested on the back frame of the seat frame assembly, the back frame of the seat frame assembly is turnable with the pivot axle relative to the base frame to support the user's back comfortably. Further, the connection tubes of the seat frame assembly facilitate ventilation. - Referring to
FIGS. 6 and 7 , thepivot axle 25 has its two distal ends respectively pivoted to thepivot holes 14 of theextension bars 12 of thebase frame 10, and therefore thepivot holes 14 of theextension bars 12 work as two bearing points D1 and D2 to support thepivot axle 25; thepivot holes 32 of thesupport members 30 are respectively coupled to thepivot axle 25 of theback frame 20, and therefore two bearing points D3 and D4 are disposed at thepivot axle 25 to support thesupport members 30; thepivot holes 23 of theside frame plates 21 of theback frame 20 are coupled to thepivot axle 25, and therefore two bearing points D5 and D6 are disposed at thepivot axle 25 to support theside frame plates 21 of theback frame 20. By means of the effect of the 6 bearing points D1˜D6, any pressure applied to theback frame 20 is evenly distributed in all directions, preventing stress concentration. - Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
