Definitions
- Laptop computers generate heat which make them uncomfortable to the user after a period of time. Moreover, this excess heat has been implicated in reduced sperm count in the case of men. Also, some laptop users have suffered burns to the legs and scrotum in instances where batteries have overheated.
- the present invention relates to a fabric or integral skin covered foam pad specifically designed for protection from computer laptop heat.

Abstract
The objective of the invention is to make laptop use more practical on the lap. Now, heat is generated and legs are uncomfortably hot, causing “computer burn”. Current products are not flexible, some require USB, and are not “user” friendly. This is a one-size-fits-all product.
Description
- This application claims priority from U.S. Provisional Ser. No. 60/970,127, filed Sep. 5, 2007. The contexts of which are incorporated herein by reference.
- Further features and advantages of the present invention will be seen from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing
FIG. 1 which is a perspective view of a lap protector in accordance with the present invention. - This is a single component product. It will be manufactured all under one roof, no parts, or assembly beyond removing the packaging, should there be any. The
pad 10 is a fabric topped 12 or skin coated foam bottom, ¼″-¾″ thick, preferably 3/16″ thick unit. It preferably is dimensioned to completely cover the bottom of a laptop computer. Preferably, the pad has a plan size of about 12″×18″. It may be formed as a semi rigid piece, but preferably is flexible so that it may be rolled up. If the pad is formed of a semi-rigid material, it may be scored or formed with a living hinge to permit the pad to be folded, e.g., for storage. It may be printed with design/art/logo, advertising or the like. - The pad is used by placing the pad between the user's legs and the bottom of the laptop computer, creating, a physical barrier between the user's legs and the heat of the laptop.
- It is a foam and fabric pad designed to minimize heat transfer from a laptop computer to the user's legs (or desktop, bedding). It is a comfortably, cushioned barrier requiring no batteries, USB, or electricity. No noisy fans. Light weight, also may be used to wrap around the laptop providing extra cushioning while in transit. It will easily pass airport securing. The pad makes balancing a laptop on the lap easier. It offers some resistance to slippage and better balance than a laptop alone. The pad also adds cushioning protection to a laptop when stowed with the laptop.
- The pad provides a physical barrier which blocks heat from the laptop computer. The product also provides a safety cushion in the event the computer battery overheats, a problem which has plagued computer manufacturers lately.
