Abstract

A ten sided die within a translucent or transparent 6-sided die that is used for generation of numbers from zero through 59, primarily for the generation of lottery numbers.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • There exists a need for lottery players to generate numbers for selection of numbers for a lottery. As it stands today, the methods available to do this in an efficient manner are the automated machine method, the guessing a number method and the use of preferred numbers, among others. Furthermore, the elements of chance and enjoyment are not often present with these methods.
  • To this end, an apparatus can be made such that, when applying the proper method, it can yield these numbers in an enjoyable and random manner. Such an apparatus could be made to be very portable, easy to use and inexpensive such that any lottery player could have one for their own personal use.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Therefore, the present invention fulfills all of the mentioned needs in a set of dice that are contained in a single object. This object is then used to generate numbers in a way that provides the user with the satisfaction of self-determination in their number generating and adds an element of randomness to those selections while providing the enjoyment level of a dice game.
  • The invention can also be used to generate numbers for any number of applications or games requiring the use of numbers in the operable range.
  • The following drawings and descriptions will provide a more thorough understanding of the invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The apparatus is made of three components described as follows:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the main component, a cube with one side open and with or without rounded edges.
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the second component, a 10-sided die of typical manufacture.
  • FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the third component, the lid which forms the sixth side of the cube once attached.
  • FIG. 4 is an exploded view of the invention.
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the assembled dice design.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • FIG. 1 is the main component, a transparent or translucent cube with one side open and with or without rounded edges. This cube has the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 etched, molded, printed or otherwise indicated, with one number on each of the sides.
  • FIG. 2, the second component, is a 10-sided die of typical manufacture and of such size as to allow it to fit into the cube, the main component, with room to rotate or turn freely within. Each side of the 10-sided die has the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 etched, molded, printed or otherwise indicated, with one number on each of the sides.
  • FIG. 3, the third component, is the lid which forms the sixth side of the cube once attached. This lid can contain a number 0, be left blank or have any marking other than the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.
  • FIG. 4, the invention, is created by inserting the ten sided die into the cube followed by attachment of the lid to the cube forming an enclosed six sided die containing the 10-sided die within that 6-sided die.
  • The invention apparatus is a translucent or transparent 6-sided die with a 10-sided die on the inside of the 6-six sided die. The 10-sided die is numbered zero through nine. The 6-sided die is numbered one through five with the 6th side optionally marked with anything other than a number in the range one through six, including no mark. This apparatus is used to generate numbers from zero through 59. The intention is that this method and apparatus will be used primarily for the generation of lottery numbers.
  • The method of use is as follows: The apparatus is shaken, rolled or otherwise moved in a random manner followed by placement, dropping or throwing it onto a stable surface. The resulting side facing up on the 10-sided die, as seen through the 6-sided die, represents the ones-place in the generated number. The resulting side facing up on the 6-sided die represents the tens-place in the generated number. If the side facing up on the 6-sided die is the lid then the result is the single digit number indicated on the 10-sided die. If, upon completion of the proposed method, a generated number does not fall within the desired range it is simply ignored and another number generated in its place using the same method.

Claims (3)

1. The ornamental design for a translucent or transparent outer 6-sided die in combination with a 10-sided inner die to generate numbers in the range from zero through 59 as shown and described.
2. The method for use with the invention of claim 1, wherein numbers are selected by viewing the upward face of the 10-sided die through a 6-sided die.
3. The ornamental design and method of use of the 6-sided die of claim 1, wherein the lid or 6th side is considered equivalent to zero either with or without a mark.
