  • Greed When a play/team spins and land on Greed the player pick a greed card from the board and answer the question. The questions are harder and the points are higher. If the player/team cannot answer the question they loose the points and the other teams/player can Steal if they choose too. If not the game continues clockwise.
  • READ CARDS will help players to learn the parts of speech and help develop writing skills.
  • GREED CARDS will expand the player(s) knowledge of all subjects in school and life situations.

Abstract

I-READ is a board game designed to help children to read fluently, and to improve in critical thinking, problem solving, spelling, social skills and self esteem. The I-READ game can be used by all young children, ages 6-12, as a learning tool at home, in schools, early learning centers, after school and tutoring programs and libraries. Used frequently to help increase test scores.

Description

    I-READ IS AN EDUCATIONAL BOARD GAME DESIGNED TO BUILD READING SKILLS AND HAVE FUN LEARNING TO READ AT THE SAME TIME
  • The object of the “I-read Board Game” is to teach children to read, Build vocabulary, develop literacy skills and become the first player/team to accumulate 550 plus points. It will be the result of the player's knowledge in spelling, parts of speech, reading comprehension, critical thinking and greed.
  • TO BEGIN PLAY
  • Set the game board on the table. The game will consist of four-(4) players/team and a teacher who controls the game.
  • The Teacher/Scorekeeper: ask the questions spinned by players/teams. He/she also keep score. The question asked would be taken from the question box by category that is spinned. The teacher or team leader keeps the Score sheet.
  • The Player/Teams: Each player/team will select a spinner and pawn (shape like a book), and a steal pawn. Each team will throw dice to determine which team/player go first. The highest number goes first and so on.
  • A Steal is when a player/team miss a question in any category including Bonus. The other player/team can answer the question by hitting or placing their Steal button in the Steal Circle on the board.
  • Loose a Turn: When the spinner lands on a number category that has already been answered they loose a turn. Next player/team spins. Once a number category has been answered the team cover the number on the board with a wink (round or square).
  • Bonus/Toss Up: When there is a tie. Bonus spin is used. Each team/player spins the bonus spinner twice. The team/player with the highest score wins. If a player/team spin the bonus spinner and cannot answer the question the other team/player can Steal. If they answer their bonus question they win the game.
  • Greed: When a play/team spins and land on Greed the player pick a greed card from the board and answer the question. The questions are harder and the points are higher. If the player/team cannot answer the question they loose the points and the other teams/player can Steal if they choose too. If not the game continues clockwise.
  • If the team/player tie a second time. The teacher them go to the Greed category. The first team/player who answer two questions correctly Wins!!! The Game is ended when the winning player/team shout “I-READ”
  • GAME CARDS
  • READ CARDS: will help players to learn the parts of speech and help develop writing skills.
  • SPELLING CARDS: build vocabulary and learn how to spell and read Fluently
  • TELL THE STORY CARDS: will help to build reading comprehension And develop critical thinking skills.
  • GREED CARDS: will expand the player(s) knowledge of all subjects in school and life situations.
  • All cards have questions at the top and answers at the bottom.
  • All question cards except the Greed Cards are categorized In the file box.
  • Greed Cards are placed on Game Board face down.

Claims (3)

  1. I. What I claim as my invention “I READ.” It is an educational board game, that will help children of ages six to twelve to read more fluently to increase their reading proficiency. The game board (24 by 18) and spinners are made of heavy pressed card-board. It is design for player to move the game pieces on the board. The game pieces are made of molded plastic. They are designed to be on or used along the board while the game is in play.
  2. II. It is a teaching tool to be used by students, parents and teachers to help to enhance and build proficiency in reading.
  3. III. It is design to build critical thinking, problem solving, reading comprehension, expand their vocabulary and build social skills and self-esteem.
