Abstract
A brush having a brush head of changeable angles includes a handle which has a first connection end on one end with an inclined first end surface and a gripping end on other end, and a brush head which has a second connection end and a bristle end on other end. The second connection end has an inclined second end surface mating the first end surface. The brush head and the handle can be coupled together and swiveled about the axis of the coupling portion. Thus the handle and the brush head can be coupled on a straight line or to form an angle between them. When in use the bending brush head and the handle can be remote from grilling flame to dispense sauce on grilling goods without scorching user's hands.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a brush and particularly to a brush used for grilling foods that has a handle and a brush head that can be coupled and swiveled to form an angle between them such that the bending brush head and elongate handle can be positioned remote from grilling flame to dispense sauce on grilling foods to protect user's hands from scorching heat.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- Grilling or roasting foods usually has to dispense sauce on the surface of the foods through a brush a number of times so that the sauce can seep into the foods under the heat to make the foods more tasty.
- The conventional brush for such a purpose usually has an elongate handle and a brush head fastened to one end of the handle with a wisp of bristles coupling thereon. Aside from grilling, the brush also is widely used for baking breads, cakes and the like. While the brush can be used to dispense sauce before grilling, it also can be used to clear other sundry goods. When in use, the brush may be moved close to the goods being treated or above the goods almost vertically. Such an operation exposes user's hands to the burning flame during grilling and the hands could be hurt by scorching. To remedy this risk, the brush for grilling usually has a longer handle than other types of brushes. As a result, storage space has to be larger. As the brush end and the handle are located on the same straight line, accurate maneuvering of the brush is more difficult and trying.
- Therefore the primary object of the present invention is to provide a brush having a brush head of changeable angles so that dispensing of sauce on grilling goods can be done remote from the grilling flame without scorching user's hands.
- To achieve the foregoing object, the brush according to the invention includes a handle and a brush head. The handle has a first connection end on one end and a gripping end on other end. The first connection end has an inclined first end surface. The brush head has a second connection end on one end and a bristle end on other end. The second connection end has an inclined second end surface formed at an inclined angle mating the first end surface. The brush head and the handle can be coupled together and swiveled relative to each other about the axis of the coupling portion.
- By means of the aforesaid construction, the handle and the brush head that are originally aligned on a straight line can be changed to a coupling condition with an inclined angle formed between them. In the inclined coupling condition the brush and handle are bent and allow user's hand to be remote from the grilling flame to dispense sauce on grilling goods without suffering from the scorching heat. For storing of the brush, the handle and brush head can be swiveled back to the straight line to reduce storage space.
- In short, compared with the conventional brush that has the handle and the brush head aligned on a straight line, the brush having a brush head of changeable angles according to the invention provides more ergonomic operation and can protect user's hands from being hurt by scorching.
- The foregoing, as well as additional objects, features and advantages of the invention will be more readily apparent from the following detailed description, which proceeds with reference to the accompanying drawings.
-
FIG. 1 is a front view of a first embodiment of the brush of the invention; -
FIG. 2 is a fragmentary front view according toFIG. 1 with the handle and the brush head aligned on a straight line; -
FIG. 3 is a fragmentary front view according toFIG. 2 with the handle and the brush head coupled at an inclined angle; -
FIG. 4 is a front view according toFIG. 3 with the brush of the invention in a coupling condition; -
FIG. 5 is a front view of the invention with the brush positioned on a flat surface; -
FIG. 6 is a front view according toFIG. 4 with the brush at an inclined angle in a grilling condition; and -
FIG. 7 is a fragmentary front view of a second embodiment of the invention that has the handle of the first embodiment divided into a handle portion and an intermediate portion. - Refer to
FIGS. 1 , 2 and 3 for a first embodiment of the brush having a brush head of changeable angles of the invention. It includes ahandle 1 and abrush head 2. Thehandle 1 has a first connection end 11 on one end and a grippingend 12 on other end. Thefirst connection end 11 has an inclinedfirst end surface 13 with afirst latch member 14 located thereon. Thebrush head 2 has a second connection end 21 on one end and abristle end 22 on other end. Thesecond connection end 21 has a secondinclined end surface 23 mating the firstconnection end surface 13. On thesecond end surface 23 there is asecond latch member 24 engegable with thefirst latch member 14. - In the first embodiment set forth above, the
first latch member 14 is protrusive while the secondlatch member 24 is indented to mate thefirst latch member 14. The protrusive and indented relationship of the two may be reversed and formed on thefirst connection end 11 and thesecond connection end 21. It can be easily understood to those skilled in the art. The shapes of the first andsecond latch members handle 1 andbrush head 2 to be coupled or separated quickly can serve as the latch members of the invention. - As previously discussed, the protrusive
first latch member 14 of thehandle 1 can be coupled with the indentedsecond latch member 24 of thebrush head 2 to couple thehandle 1 and thebrush head 2 together. Thehandle 1 and thebrush head 2 can be swiveled about the axis of the coupling portion. As the first and second connection ends 11 and 21 are coupled together and in contact on the inclined surfaces, during swiveling thehandle 1 can be rotated clockwise about thebrush head 2 for 180 degrees with one spot A on a upper end of thesecond connection end 21 as shown inFIG. 2 moving to a lower end as shown inFIG. 3 . Therefore thebrush head 2 and thehandle 1 form an included angle and bend downwards. On the other hand, swivel continuously thebrush head 2 for another 180 degrees, the spot A will be moved from the lower end as shown inFIG. 3 to the upper end again as shown inFIG. 2 to allow thehandle 1 and thebrush head 2 to be coupled on a straight line again. - When the
handle 1 and thebrush head 2 are coupled on the straight line as shown inFIG. 1 , the brush can be used for general purpose as the conventional brush does, such as pre-drilling operation or storing without taking too much space, or being laid on aflat surface 30 without smearing thebristle end 22 as shown inFIG. 5 . When thehandle 1 and thebrush head 2 are coupled at an angle as shown inFIG. 4 , the brush is desirable for use for grilling. Thebending brush head 2 andhandle 1 can keep user'shand 33 remote from grillingflame 31 so that thehand 33 does not suffer from the scorching heat while dispensing sauce on grillinggoods 32. - Refer to
FIG. 7 for a second embodiment of the invention. Compared with the first embodiment, in this embodiment thehandle 1 consists of ahandle portion 4 and anintermediate portion 5. Thehandle portion 4 has acoupling end 41 on one end opposing the gripping end (not shown in the drawing). Thecoupling end 41 has acoupling boss 42. Theintermediate portion 5 has an indentedcoupling member 52 corresponding to and engageable thecoupling boss 42. Theintermediate portion 5 has athird connection end 53 opposing thecoupling end 41 that has an inclinedthird end surface 54 formed thereon. Thethird end surface 54 has athird latch member 55 which is protrusive. - The
handle portion 4 of the second embodiment can be coupled with thebrush head 2 of the first embodiment, with the indentedsecond latch member 24 of the second connection end 21 coupling with thethird latch member 55 of theintermediate portion 5. Thus thehandle portion 4 and thebrush head 2 are bridged by theintermediate portion 5. - While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been set forth for the purpose of disclosure, modifications of the disclosed embodiments of the invention as well as other embodiments thereof may occur to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, the appended claims are intended to cover all embodiments which do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention.
