Abstract

A novel hairnet of two embodiments; the first embodiment comprises two connected enclosures for enclosing and securing hair on the wearer's head, wherein one of the enclosures accommodating a ponytail extending from the back of the wearer's head. In the second embodiment the hairnet comprises two connected enclosures, wherein one of the enclosures accommodates a ponytail extending from the top of the wearer's head. The connected enclosures may be joined by an elastic band.

Description

FIELD

The present invention is related to personal products, which are worn for health reasons; more specifically a hair net configured to accommodate a pony tail hair style is disclosed.

BACKGROUND

A hairnet, or sometimes simply a net or caul, is a small, often elastic, fine net worn over long hair to hold it in place. A snood is similar but a looser fit and with a much coarser mesh.
Evidence has been found of hairnets as far back as ancient Greece. Hairnets were worn from the 13th century onwards in Germany and England and are shown in illustrations from this period often worn with a wimple. They were made from extremely fine silk and edged with bands of either finger-weaving or tablet-weaving.
Today, hairnets are required to be worn by workers in certain industries. For example, hairnets are standard-issue in industrial kitchens, surgical suites and manufacturing clean rooms. In short, hairnets are required in any environment wherein shed hair as a contaminant imposes a health or industrial risk.
Prior art designs for wearers having long hair are inconvenient and even problematic. In these cases, the wearer's hair must be compacted or piled on the wearer's head. This causes discomfort, and can lead to poor hygiene by the accumulation of bacteria and odor. At the very least, the wearer's hair is mussed.
What is needed is a hairnet that will accommodate wearers having long hair, or, at the very least, a hairnet that reduces stress upon the wearer's hair.

SUMMARY

Therefore, in response to the need for a better hairnet, herein is disclosed in a first embodiment; a hairnet comprising a first enclosure for enclosing and securing hair that lies upon the top of the head and for enclosing hair on the periphery of the wearer's head, this hair being proximal to the top of the wearer's head. The hairnet further comprises a second enclosure attached to and in communication with the first enclosure, the second enclosure attached to the back of the first enclosure as worn by the wearer of the hairnet. The second enclosure of the first embodiment encompasses and secures hair that extends from the back and lower sides of the wearer's head. In this embodiment, the hairnet accommodates hair that would be worn in a configuration similar to a “ponytail.”
In a second embodiment; a hairnet comprising a first enclosure for enclosing and securing hair that lies upon the top of the head and for enclosing hair on the periphery of the wearer's head, this hair being proximal to the top of the wearer's head, wherein the enclosed hair is arranged to lie in close proximity to the wearer's head. The hairnet further comprises a second enclosure attached to and in communication with the first enclosure, the second enclosure attached approximately to the middle of the first enclosure as worn by the wearer of the hairnet. The second enclosure of the second embodiment encompasses and secures hair that extends from the top and lower sides of the wearer's head. In this second embodiment, the hairnet accommodates hair that would be worn in a configuration similar to a ponytail, wherein the ponytail extends from the top of the wearer's head.
Both embodiments comprise two netted enclosures configured to encompass and secure a wearer's hair, the netted enclosures configured to each encompass most, if not all of the wearer's hair and to not unduly compress or compact the wearer's hair.

OBJECTS AND ADVANTAGES

In the disclosure that follows, the novel hairnet will be seen to have a number of objects and advantages, among these, the hairnet keeps the wearer's hair neat and more tidy than prior art hairnets.
A second advantage is the hairnet permits airflow through the wearer's hair, reducing discomfort and improving the wearer's sanitation.
A third advantage is the hairnet reduces stress on the wearer's hair and thereby reduces the number of hairs shed by the wearer.
The objects and advantages of the invention will appear from the disclosure to follow. In the disclosure reference is made to the accompanying drawings, which form a part hereof and in which is shown by way of illustration of a specific embodiment in which the invention may be practiced. This embodiment will be described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention, and it is to be understood that other embodiments may be utilized and that structural changes may be made in details of the embodiment without departing from the scope of the invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows the first embodiment of the invention, wherein the hairnet comprises two connected enclosures, one of the enclosures accommodating a ponytail extending from the back of the wearer's head.

FIG. 2 shows the second embodiment of the invention, wherein the hairnet comprises two connected enclosures, one of the enclosures accommodating a ponytail extending from the top of the wearer's head.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

With reference to the included figures—FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, a hairnet comprising a first plenum for receiving a first volume of the wearer's hair, to which is attached a second plenum adapted to receive a second volume of the wearer's hair, whereby all of the wearer's hair is enclosed.

A First Embodiment

With reference to FIG. 1, a hairnet 1000 comprising a first enclosure 1100 and a second enclosure 1200, the first enclosure 1100 attached to and in communication with the second enclosure 1200. Both enclosures 1100 and 1200 are configured to accommodate and enclose the hair on a wearer's head, whereby the wearer's hair is not unduly compressed or compacted.
In FIG. 1, the wearer is shown with the wearer's hair 1300 in a ponytail configuration with the ponytail 1350 extending from the back of the wearer's head.
In FIG. 1, the first enclosure 1100 and the second enclosure 1200 are comprised of netting and are of such a shape and size to accommodate the hair of a human male or female, while not covering the eyes of the wearer.
With reference to FIG. 1, the first enclosure 1100 and the second enclosure 1200 are configured and co-joined at juncture 1400 such that a combined or single enclosure is formed. The juncture 1400 may have an elastic interface or means for joining 1450 that joins the two enclosures 1100 and 1200.

A Second Embodiment

With reference to FIG. 2, a hairnet 2000 comprising a first enclosure 2100 and a second enclosure 2200, the first enclosure 2100 attached to and in communication with the second enclosure 2200. Both enclosures 2100 and 2200 are configured to accommodate and enclose the hair on a wearer's head, whereby the wearer's hair is not unduly compressed or compacted.
In FIG. 2, the wearer is shown with the wearer's hair 2300 in a ponytail configuration with the ponytail 2350 extending from the top of the wearer's head.
In FIG. 2, the first enclosure 2100 and the second enclosure 2200 are comprised of netting and are of such a shape and size to accommodate the hair of a human male or female, while not covering the eyes of the wearer.

DISCLOSURE SUMMARY

A first and second embodiment of the invention has been disclosed. It will be appreciated that the embodiments are directed to a hairnet that is functional, and accommodates wearer's hair in a full range of styles and lengths, while securing any hairs that might escape from the wearer's head.
While other variants are possible in view of this disclosure, the full scope and description of the invention is given by the claims that follow.

Claims

1. A hairnet comprising a first plenum for receiving a first volume of the wearer's hair, joined by an elastic juncture to a second plenum adapted to receive a second volume of the wearer's hair, whereby all of the wearer's hair is enclosed, and the elastic juncture may be contracted or expanded to receive the wearer's hair.

2. The hairnet of claim 1, wherein the first plenum and the second plenum are comprised of a net.

3. The hairnet of claim 1, wherein the second plenum is adapted to receive the second volume of hair, the second volume of hair emanating from the back of the wearer's head.

4. The hairnet of claim 1, wherein the second plenum is adapted to receive the second volume of hair, the second volume of hair emanating from the top of the wearer's head.

6. A hairnet comprising two connected enclosures joined by an elastic juncture, the enclosures for enclosing and securing hair on a wearer's head, wherein one of the enclosures accommodates a ponytail extending from the back of the wearer's head.
