Abstract
This invention provides a food container made of a paper sheet with a base portion with four lateral edges connected by folding to the lateral side portions along the folding line. Between each lateral side portion is provided with a side flank which is divided into two portions along the folding line. The outer rim portions of a pair of opposite lateral side portions function as inner cover portions similar in shape to a cut end gable. The outer rim portions of another pair of opposite lateral side portions function as outer cover portions.
Description
- Engineering with regard to the production of food container
- Conventional food containers are made of paper sheets with the inner surfaces coated with a polymer compound. A food container has four lateral side portions. Between the lateral side portions are corner-edge sections. The lower side of each lateral side portion is made into a base portion. One side portion of the corner-edge portion is made into a side flank. The lateral edges of the lateral side portion and the side flank are sealed together by attaching the lateral regions of the lateral side portion coated with the polymer compound onto an uncoated side flank. The sealing between the surface coated with a heat resisting material and the uncoated surface cannot prevent leakage or permeation of food contained in the food container out along the lateral contact surface which has been well sealed.
- The food container according to the present invention is made of a paper sheet which includes a base portion having four sides connected to the lateral side portions along a folding line in an overlapping manner. Between each lateral side portion is a side flank which is divided into two portions along a folding line. The outer rim portions of a pair of opposite lateral side portions function as inner cover portions similar to cut-end gables. The outer rim portions of another pair of opposite lateral side portions function as outer cover portions. Forming a food container by folding according to the present invention has an advantage in preventing leakage of food contained in the food container out along the lateral contact surface sealed and attached together since it is a double layer sealing structure which can prevent leakage effectively.
- An object of the present invention is to provide an improved food container which can prevent leakage of food contained in the food container out along the lateral contact surface sealed and attached. This can be achieved by making the lateral contact surface of the food container sealed and attached together on the surface coated with a polymer compound. This can prevent leakage effectively.
-
FIG. 1 shows a food container according to the present invention before forming. -
FIG. 2 shows a food container according to the present invention after forming by folding. -
FIG. 3 shows a food container according to the present invention. -
FIG. 1 shows afood container 1 according to the present invention before forming thefood container 1 into a shape. Thefood container 1 is made of a paper sheet including abase portion 2 with four sides connected by folding to thelateral side portions 4 along thefolding line 3. Between eachlateral side portion 4 is aside flank 5 connected by folding along thefolding line 3. Theside flank 5 is divided into two portions along thefolding line 6 into a side flank 5 a and side flank 5 b. The side flank 5 a is approximately in a trapezoidal shape and the side flank 5 b is approximately in a triangular shape. Both sides of eachlateral side portion 4 are connected to either of the side flank 5 a or side flank 5 b, with the oppositelateral side portions 4 connected to thesame side flank 5. - The outer rim portions of a pair of the opposite
lateral side portions 4 function asinner cover portions 7 with a shape similar to a cut end gable. Thelateral side portions 4 and theinner cover portions 7 on both sides are connected by folding along thefolding line 3. The outer rim portions of another pair of the oppositelateral side portions 4 function as anouter cover portions 8 and anouter cover portion 9. Thelateral side portions 4 and theouter cover portion 8 together with theouter cover portion 9 are also connected together by folding along thefolding line 3. - The
outer cover portion 8 is similar in shape to a cut end gable with acutting line 10 for engaging a tongue portion 11 of theouter cover portion 9. Thisouter cover portion 9 is similar in shape to a rectangle with cut angles to conform with theouter cover portion 8 when inserted and attached together. The outer region of theouter cover portion 9 is provided with a tongue portion 11 for inserting into thecutting line 10 of theouter cover portion 8. -
FIG. 2 shows afood container 1 which has already been folded into a food container which is ready for use. This is performed by folding the fourlateral side portions 4 upward and then aligning and attaching the side flank 5 a and side flank 5 b using adhesive, and then folding eachside flank 5 onto the outer regions of thelateral side portions 4 along thefolding line 3 and attaching together by adhesive. This structure helps prevent leakage of food contained in thefood container 1 out along the lateral contact surface sealed and attached together since it is a double layer sealing which can effectively prevent leakage. After that, continue to fold in such a manner to make theinner cover portions 7 on both sides and the tongue portion 11 of theouter cover portion 9 insert into thecutting line 10 of theouter cover portion 8 to obtain a finished food container according to present invention (as shown inFIG. 3 ). - As described in the detailed description of the invention.
