Abstract

A self supporting alignment and stability system for rebounders and a support structure for attaching a exercise jump seat device which allows a vertical means of movement through a spring seat apparatus that is attached to the side bars of the exercise support device. The structure includes a three sided foldable frame with four adjustable legs and clamps that attach to the rebounder for further stability and safety. The two side frames are identical U shaped structures, each with two side bars. The front frame has four cross bars with two sets of tube ends for the two side frame legs that permit folding the structure flat for shipping and storage. The portable exercise apparatus has four sets of hanger spring means, that are attached to the top side bars of the exercise support device, and seat frame structure, permiting a vertical means of movement. The exercise support device has a removeable front bar when used with the portable exercise device.

Description

    BACKGROUND
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to the field of health and fitness through exercise, specifically and first to an improved mechanism for use with rebound exercise to provide stability, alignment and safety while rebounding: and second to provide a seated exercise system for vertical movement for persons unable to rebound with the rebound stability system.
  • 2. Description of Prior Art
  • The prior art has various devices for rebounding. Rebounders are normally used in a stand alone mode. Rebounding is recognized as one of the best total exercise systems known to man. This is great for persons who are young, coordinated and in good health. The problem arises for seniors, overweight and obese, physically handicapped and persons with various health problems and conditions. These persons must have stability, alignment and safety while rebounding and exercising. The prior art lists various support mechanisms for rebounding which only partially address the stability, alignment and safety problem. Most are permanently attached to the rebounder and are not portable, while others don't provide an upper body structure for support and alignment. U.S. Pat. No. 6,652,419 to Rota provides similar benefits with a different device. None of the prior art devices provide a total whole body exercise system that provides aerobic plus strength training while simultaneously providing the user stability, alignment and safety. U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,704,882 and 5,876,311 to Coates, addresses the sit and bounce exercise for persons unable to rebound. Although the Coates device works well for non rebounders it is a permanent structure without a front exercise bar.
  • Objects and Advantages
  • Accordingly, several objects and advantages of the present invention are:
    • (a) To provide a rebound stability system, for persons unable to use regular rebounders, that provides stability, alignment and safety
    • (b) To provide a rebound stability system that is portable, convenient, affordable and that can be used in the comfort of one's home.
    • (c) To provide a rebound stability system that provides a total body exercise that simultaneously includes aerobic plus strength training with compound exercises of multiple muscle groups.
    • (d) To provide a rebound stability system that provides a means for releaseing back tension and that provides spinal stretching.
    • (e) To provide a rebound stability system that provides balance and strength development by pulling and pushing on the upper and lower bars of the exercise support device. The degree of resistance can vary by pulling and pushing with a small amount or with all of the user's weight.
    • (f) To provide a rebound stability system that provides the following additional benefits:
  • Exercise with minimum trauma to the musculoskeletal system
  • Resistance training for the entire body to stimulatse bone mass which prevents osteoporosis
  • Increase lymph flow several times which removes toxic waste & trapped blood proteins
    • (g) To provide a vertical jump seat apparatus, to simulate rebounding and its benefits for persons who are unable to rebound because of physical problems.
  • Further objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent from a consideraton of the drawings and ensuing description.
  • DRAWING FIGURES
  • In Drawings:

  • DESCRIPTION—FIGS. 1 TO 8
  • FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a typical embodiment of the exerecise support device part 10 of the present invention when used with a rebounder part 42. The two side support frames part 12 are U shaped with legs that taper out toward the bottom and are narrower at the top to provide stability at the base and the correct user width at the top. The support frame cross bars part 14 and the support frame lower cross bars part 16 are fastensed to the the support frame part 12. The front frame top bar parts, 18, 18″ are fastened to front frame top hinge tubes part 22. The front frame lower cross bar parts 20 and 20′ are connected to the front frame lower hinge tubes part 24. Parts 18, 18′, 20, and 20′ are each progressly longer to provide the front taper for stability and correct width for user comfort. The adjustable legs part 26 have leg caps part 28 and trim bushings part 32. The stop clips part 30 hold the front frame top hinge tubes part 22 and the front frame lower hinge tubes part 24 in place.
  • FIG. 2 shows the clamps part 34 that are fastsened to the adjustable legs part 26. The clamp sides part 36 is connected with a rivet part 40 and the clamps are tightened with the clamping knob with stud part 38.
  • FIG. 3 shows the exercise support device in an opened up front view.
  • FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of the portable exercise apparatus part 10′ mounted in the exercise support device part 10.
  • FIG. 5 shows a front cross section view of the spring hanger assembly part 60. The top spring hanger part 62 is attached to the support frame top cross bars 14 and held in place by the clamping knob with stud part 76. The top spring hanger tube part 64 is fastened to the top spring hanger part 62. The top spring hanger tube part 64 has a spring hanger chaim adjustment slot part 80 that receives the spring hanger chain part 70 that is connected to the springs part 68 The safety chain slot part 78 that receives the safety chain part 72. The bottom spring hanger seat frame connector part 66 connects to the springs part 68. The spring protective cover part 74 is fastened to the top spring hanger tube part 64 and the bottom spring hanger seat frame connector part 66.
  • FIG. 6 shows the the seat f lame assembly part 52 with the seat frame part 54 and the seat frame cross connector part 56.
  • FIG. 7 shows the folding seat part 58.
  • FIG. 8 shows the front cross bar part 82 with front cross bar locking knobs part 84 that is connected to the open end of the support frame part 12
  • Although the discription above contains many specifications, these should not be construed as limiting the scope of the invention, but as merely providing illustrations of some of the presently preferred embodiments of this invention. For example the exercise support device clamps can take many forms and still accomplish the same purpose of securing the exercise support device to the rebounder for safety.
  • Thus the scope of the invention should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents, rather than the example given.
