Abstract
A swivel-n-fix holster includes a holster, wherein a shaft formed on the back; a base plate, having a clip strip and a shaft hole, wherein the shaft hole being penetrated by the shaft secured by a C-ring to enable the holster to rotate around the base plate counterclockwise or clockwise without causing the holster to detach from the base plate or being too tightly secured to the base plate.
Description
- (a) Field of the Invention
- The present invention is an improved swivel holster, wearing on the waist, which can be swiveled freely to any angles and also be fixed to enhance agility.
- (b) Description of the Prior Art
- Conventional swivel holsters like the U.S. Pat. No. 4,504,001 Nichols and the U.S. Pat. No. 5,641,102 Hellweg both can be rotated to pre-set angles. U.S. Pat. No. 4,504,001 Nichols uses plates with detents in a circular array to determine the angles the holster can rotate to. U.S. Pat. No. 5,641,102 Hellweg uses a pair of convex and concave members with radial ribs to provide pre-set angles for holster rotation. Although useful, it is evident that both inventions are limited to pre-set angles of rotation. However, the swivel angle desired may vary depending on the circumstances and the wearer's height; consequently, fine-tuning of swivel angle is often required. It is, therefore, desirable to provide a device that allows the holster to swivel to any angles without constraints imposed by pre-set angles.
- In addition, both devices use a screw and a T-nut, or a bolt to secure the rotational device. Although useful, defects such as the screw and the T-nut being separated or being locked too tightly can occur after many rotations in the same direction or the screw/bolt could get loose after many rotations and substantial oscillation.
- It is the objective of the present invention to enable the swivel-n-fix holster to swivel to any angle desired, free from any constraints set by pre-set angles as in the two inventions mentioned previously. This objective is achieved by deploying a C-ring in combination with a shaft to provide 360 degree rotation with no constraints. Since there is no pre-set angle, the user may swivel the holster to any angle desired.
- With the free rotation of 360 degree, the swivel-n-fix holster provides an important benefit: to prevent the holster from prodding the chair when sitting in sofa, chair, or car. Although the two previously mentioned inventions can be swiveled as well, they are, however, limited to pre-set angles. The swivel angle desired may vary depending on wearer's height, sofa/chair or car seat design, and other circumstantial factors. As a result, fine-tuning of swivel angles are often required. With the swivel-n-fix holster, user may fine tune the desired swivel angle without limitation of pre-set angle to attain maximum comfort.
- It is another objective of the present invention to improve a screw and a T-nut, or a bolt securing structure of the two previously mentioned inventions. By using the C-ring in combination with a shaft, The swivel-n-fix holster can be rotated in the same direction many times without causing the holster to detach from the base plate or being too tightly secured to the base plate.
- To enable a further understanding of the said objectives and the technological methods of the invention herein, a brief description of the drawings below is followed by the detailed description of the preferred embodiments.

FIG. 6 shows a perspective view of the present invention being fixed on a belt. - Referring to FIGS. 1˜3. The present invention is related to a swivel-n-fix holster having:
- A
holster 10, wherein aspace 17 formed for accommodating a handgun and ashaft 12 formed on the back; abase plate 20, including aclip strip 22 and ashaft hole 24 for accommodating theshaft 12, to be secured by a C-ring 121, thereby enabling theholster 10 to rotate around theshaft 12. - Referring to FIGS. 3˜5. A
female button 26 formed at the lower part of thebase plate 20 adjoining the back of theholster 10, wherein at least amale button shaft hole 24 as a rotation center, to be selected and buttoned by thefemale button 26 when rotating theholster 10 round theshaft 12 to a male button position desired. An example is shown inFIG. 4 , illustrating thefemale button 26 buttons on themale button 14. - Referring to
FIGS. 2 and 3 . A layer ofPU 30 is formed along the edge of theholster 10, wherein acloth 35 formed thereon to protectPU 30 from damage, resulting from direct friction such as from a pistol. - Referring to
FIGS. 2 and 3 . Acircular groove 123 is formed at the front part of theshaft 12. A high strength and nimble metal C-ring 121, lodges on the groove to prevent theshaft 12 from detaching from theshaft hole 24 or being too tightly locked in theshaft hole 24 after many times of rotations. The C-ring structure differs from previous invention U.S. Pat. No. 4,504,001 Nichols and U.S. Pat. No. 5,641,102 Hellweg that used a screw/bolt for holster rotation. With a slippery outer surface of theshaft 12 and a slippery inner surface of theshaft hole 24, rotations thereof are easy and free with minimal friction. - Referring to
FIG. 3 . Thebase plate 20, having a reverse U cross-section and with elastic and flexible characteristics, is able to clip to abelt 80 with theclip strip 22, as shown inFIG. 6 , thereby fastening the base plate on thebelt 80. Theprotection plate 28, functions as the back plate fixed at the bottom of the base plate to prevent theshaft 12 from direct contact with thebelt 80. - A side structure description is the
locking belt 15, which is to buckle a handgun on theholster 10 and is common in other convention products. - When the
female button 26 is not buttoned at any of themale buttons holster 10 can be rotated freely around theshaft 12 to enhance agility and speed when pulling a handgun from theholster 10, or to prevent the holster from prodding the chair when sitting in sofa, chair, or car. - The
female button 26 can be changed to a male button when changingmale buttons
Claims (5)
1. A swivel-n-fix holster comprising:
a holster, wherein a shaft formed on the back; a base plate, including a clip strip and a shaft hole, wherein the shaft hole being penetrated by the shaft, with a C-ring locking at the end to enable the holster rotating around the shaft.
2. The swivel-n-fix holster as recited in claim 1 , wherein a female button formed at the lower part of the base plate adjoining the back of the holster, wherein at least a male button formed, to be selected and buttoned by the female button.
3. The swivel-n-fix holster as recited in claim 1 , wherein a layer of cloth covered PU layer formed along the edge of the holster.
4. The swivel-n-fix holster as recited in claim 1 , wherein a protection plate fixed on the base plate as the back plate to resist the shaft.
5. The swivel-n-fix holster as recited in claim 1 , wherein a circular groove formed on the front of the shaft, to be secured by the C-ring to prevent the shaft from detaching from the shaft hole.
