Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention generally relates to a breast enhancing arrangement for improving personal appearance and, more particularly, to such an arrangement for enhancing a woman's breasts that is easy to use, comfortable, presents a natural look and is provided with a carry case for promoting privacy of use.
- 2. Background Discussion
- A variety of cup paddings have been developed over the years and used by women to pad brassieres for wearing over the breasts to enhance the appearance of the front upper part of the body. One particular drawback of such arrangements is that they require the use of a brassier to hold the padding in place. If a woman has a diminutive breast size and has no need to wear a brassier for support, then cup padding cannot be used. Moreover wearing a brassier is oftentimes uncomfortable and causes unsightly strap lines that can be seen through the woman's blouse or shirt.
- Although essentially different from arrangements for enhancing the size or appearance of a woman's breasts, breast prostheses are known, such as disclosed by U.S. Pat. No. 5,071,433, which use a gel-like adhesive to attach a silicone prosthesis imitating a female left or right breast to the chest of a woman who has had a mastectomy. Such prostheses are typically heavy and can give rise to physical discomfort, for instance in the skin, or if the prosthesis does not completely bear against the skin and as a result are ill-adapted for use with woman that have not had a mastectomy.
- U.S. Pat. No. 4,100,621 discloses a mastectomy garment that employs an artificial breast that is attached to a nightgown by ply VELCRO fasteners. However, the arrangement for attaching the artificial breast to the nightgown will show through the garment and thereby spoil any appearance of naturalness, which is essential to the overall effect of these types of arrangements.
- In addition to a natural appearance, it is also important to many users that the fact that they are wearing a breast enhancing arrangement is kept secret so, even if a natural appearance is achieved, no one knows that it is artificial.
- Thus, there is a need to provide an improved breast enhancing arrangement which provides a natural look, is easy to use and comfortable as well as provided in a way so as to protect the privacy of the users, yet does not possess the shortcomings of the devices presently employed.
- It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an improved breast enhancing arrangement for improving the figure of a woman that overcomes the deficiencies of the prior art.
- Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an improved breast enhancing arrangement for a woman that is easy to use, comfortable and presents a natural, pleasing appearance.
- A further object of the present invention is to provide an improved breast enhancing arrangement that is provided with a carry case for promoting privacy of use so that the arrangement can be discretely carried or transported from one location to another.
- An important advantage of the present invention is that the user does not need to wear a brassiere in order to use the breast enhancing arrangement of the present invention. This permits the use of the present invention with strapless dresses or formal wear. Moreover, this advantageous feature permits petite size woman to use the present invention without requiring the use of an otherwise unnecessary and uncomfortable undergarment such as bra.
- Another advantage of the present invention is that it can be worn with tight fitting blouses or shirts without risk of unsightly strap lines to provide an entirely natural look.
- Still another advantage of the present invention is that it is comfortable.
- These and other objects, advantages and features of the present invention are achieved, according to one embodiment thereof, by a breast enhancing arrangement for improving personal appearance, the arrangement comprising: one lightweight breast enhancement pad for placement over each breast for enhancing the appearance of each breast; an attachment means for attaching each breast enhancement pad directly to a person's chest without the need for a brassiere; and a carrying case for carrying the breast enhancement pads and attachment means to promote privacy of use of the breast enhancing arrangement.
- The foregoing and other objects, advantages and features of the present invention will no doubt become more apparent to those skilled in the art after having read the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments of the present invention, which are contained in and illustrated by the various Drawing Figures.
- FIG. 1 is a front, perspective view illustrating the breast enhancing arrangement of the present invention;
- FIG. 2 illustrates the attachment means of the present invention;
- FIG. 3 shows the breast enhancing arrangement as it would appear when in use and illustrates the improved appear provided by the present invention; and
- FIG. 4 illustrates the carrying case of the present invention.
- Referring now to FIG. 1, one embodiment of the breast enhancing arrangement of the present invention, generally indicated at13, is illustrated. The
breast enhancing arrangement 13 includes a pair of breast enhancement pads, at 14 a, 14 b, comprising, for example, left and right teardrop shaped pads respectively adapted for placement over the left and right breasts of aperson 15. Although teardrop shaped pads are shown, any other suitable shape conforming to the shape of a woman's breast can be use and are envisioned within the scope of the present invention. Thebreast enhancement pads - The fabric comprises, for example, a material that is soft and will not irate the skin, such as, satin or silk or any synthetic materials having similar characteristics. The stuffing is made of cotton or other stuffing materials that provide a soft, pliable feel to the pad so as to mimic the characteristics and look of a real breast.
- Referring to FIG. 2, the
breast enhancement pads pliable members 17. Eachmember 17 is made of a material that provides a suitable pliable surface for adhering to adhesives, such as glue or the like. Such materials include, for example, any suitable elastomer, either synthetic or natural, such as, rubber. Themembers 17 are attached to each enhancement pad, 14 a, 14 b by glue or sewing. -
Adhesive sheets 19 are employed to attach thebreast enhancement pads adhesive sheets 19 have an adhesive applied to both sides. The adhesive comprises an adhesive that adheres to skin without irritation, such as, for example, an adhesive similar to the adhesive used on BAND-AIDS or the like. Theadhesive sheets 19 attach to thepliable members 17 on theenhancement pads enhancement pads shirt 21 with a preformed breast line can be worn over thebreast enhancing arrangement 13 to complete the overall natural look (no strap lines or show through indicating an artificial condition) of the breast enhancing arrangement of the present invention as seen in FIG. 3. - As best seen in FIG. 4, in order to provide the user of the present invention with a measure of privacy, the
breast enhancing arrangement 13 further includes acarry case 23 for promoting privacy of use so that the arrangement can be discretely stored, carried or transported from one location to another. Thecarry case 23 comprises, for example, a cloth tote bag having an opaque quality so that the contents of the bag cannot be seen. Thearrangement 13 could also be used as packaging for selling the item in a store, so that, even at purchase, the privacy of the user would be assured. - While the present invention has been described with respect to various embodiments and illustrations thereof, these are not to be considered limiting since it would be evident to one skilled in the art to use substitutes and equivalents without departing from the spirit of the present invention. Accordingly, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments shown and described herein, but rather the scope of the invention is defined by the following claims.
