Abstract

A pouch, which is inserted into a purse. The inside front and back walls of the pouch have pockets of an assortment of sizes and materials, which enable a person to organize the items carried in a purse. The pockets are designed to hold a multiplicity of items. Some of the pockets are padded, which eliminates the need for additional cases such as is needed for the protection of eyeglasses. In addition, the pouch has a separate middle section, which is comprised of a wall having pockets on both sides. The middle section can be removed by lifting it out of the pouch, and can then be inserted into a smaller purse. The pouch and the separate removable middle section enable a person to change purses quickly and allows a person to change from one purse to a purse of a different size.

BACKGROUND

1. Field of Invention

This invention relates to a removable purse organizer, which is placed inside a purse. This invention organizes all the items carried in a purse, enables a person to change purses quickly, and gives the ability to change to a different size purse.

2. Description of Prior Art

Originally purse organizers were designed to provide a specific place for each item carried in a purse. However, these previous designs have several disadvantages: cannot be packed quickly; once items are retrieved, they cannot be returned to their place efficiently; organizer unit has to be opened first before retrieving item; organizer unit cannot be used in any size purse except a purse the size of the organizer or larger.

For example, the organizer in U.S. Pat. No. 5,865,233 to Roegner, Jul. 1, 1997, has a plurality of elastic straps, and loops. In order to have items held securely in place the strap or loop must tightly surround each item. It is time consuming and inefficient to place items in straps and loops because it takes two hands to do so. Once the organizer is packed, in order to retrieve an item a person must first open the purse then open the organizer. When returning the item to the organizer a person must hold the organizer open, use one hand to hold open the strap or loop, and one hand to place the item within the strap or loop closure. Also, the Roegner organizer does not give a person the ability to change to a purse of a different size. The Roegner organizer can only be used in purses, which are the same size or larger in size than the organizer.

OBJECTS AND ADVANTAGES

Accordingly, several objects and advantages of my invention are:

(a) to allow a person to quickly pack items in one of an assortment of pockets, which are of different sizes, shapes and materials;

(b) to allow a person to pack items using only one hand;

(c) to allow a person to retrieve items by opening their purse, not the purse and the organizer;

(d) to allow a person to return items to their original pockets quickly and efficiently using only one hand;

(e) to allow a person to change purses by simply removing the organizer from one purse and placing into another purse; and

(f) to allow a person to change from one size purse to another size purse.

Further objects and advantages are to provide within the organizer an assortment of pockets to accommodate a wide variety of items. This assortment will include, but not be limited to, pockets that close securely, pockets that remain open, pockets with protective padding for fragile items, pockets with a key holder, and pockets which are penholders. Additional objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.

SUMMARY

My invention is a removable purse organizer, which enables a person to organize the items carried in a purse. The organizer is constructed to give a person the ability to change purses quickly. The organizer is also constructed to enable a person to change from one purse to another purse sized larger or smaller.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIG. 1 of the drawings, a preferred embodiment of the main unit of the removable purse organizer is shown as it is being inserted into or removed from a generic purse. The outer walls of the organizer consist of front and [0026] back walls 10, and side walls 18. The outer walls can be constructed from materials such as, but not limited to, taffeta, satin, or nylon. Front and back walls 10 have a stiffening material sandwiched between the layers of the wall to maintain the shape of the organizer. Side walls 18 are soft to enable them to close in or expand out as governed by the size of a purse.
Within the organizer and secured to the inside front and [0027] back walls 10 are pockets 12, which are large enough to allow a hand to reach within the pocket. In between pockets 12 is a pocket 16, which is sized to hold a pen, pencil, file or similar object. Handles 14 are constructed as a loop through which one or two fingers can be placed for ease in removing the organizer from a purse. The handles are secured to the front and back walls 10 and are made from materials such as, but not limited to, satin cord, covered cotton cord, or nylon cord. Generic purse 11 is shown for demonstration purposes only.
Referring to FIG. 2 of the drawings is the preferred embodiment of the middle section, which can be inserted into the center compartment of the main unit shown in FIG. 1. The main wall of the [0028] middle section 20 is constructed with similar materials as the main unit with the addition of a padding material sandwiched between the outer layers. FIG. 2 is a view of one side of the middle section and shows an example of large pocket 12A, which is an open pocket, and, 12B, which is a large pocket closed by flap 24. Pockets 12A and 12B are constructed using the similar material as the main unit. Flap 24 also has attached to the inside surface a hook and loop closure device. The corresponding hook and loop closure device is attached to the outside of large pocket 12B in order to have it securely closed.
Referring to FIG. 3 of the drawings is the alternate side of the middle section shown in FIG. 2. FIG. 3 shows three pockets, which are constructed with similar materials as the main unit with the addition of a padded material such as cotton or polyester quilting and are lined with felt or a similar material for additional protection of fragile items. [0029] Pockets 22 are secured to one side of the main wall 20.
Alternative Embodiments [0030]
Referring to FIG. 4 of the drawings is an alternative embodiment of the inside of the front or [0031] back wall 10 showing pockets 12A and 12B. Pocket 12A is an open large pocket and pocket 12B is a closed large pocket. Flap 24 is attached to inside front or back wall 10 immediately above pocket 12B. The flap is constructed to fold down over the top of a pocket. A hook and loop closure device is attached to underside of flap 24 and outer side of pocket 12B. The hook and loop closure device is placed so that it allows the pocket to be closed very flat or to be closed fully packed.
[0032] Medium pocket 26 is secured to inside front or back wall 10 and inside of large pocket 12B. Inner small pocket 28 is also secured to inside front or back wall 10 and inside of large pocket 12B. Pockets 26 and 28 enable a person to further organize items within one large pocket. Pocket 16 is secured to inside front or back wall 10, and is sized to hold slender items such a pen, pencil, file or similar items.
Referring to FIG. 5 of the drawings is an additional alternative embodiment of the inside of front or [0033] back wall 10 showing pocket 32, which is a medium sized pocket attached to the inside front or back wall 10. Pocket 34 is constructed to be shallow in depth, which allows smaller items to be more readily accessible. Key holder 30 is secured to front or back wall 10 immediately above pocket 32 and hanging inside the pocket.
Referring to FIG. 6 of the drawing is a perspective view of the main unit with the middle section inserted into the center compartment of the main unit as seen from above. Shown is [0034] pocket 12A, which is a large open pocket attached to front or back wall 10; pocket 16, which is a slender pocket attached to front or back wall 10; and pocket 12B, which is a large pocket closed by flap 24. Also shown are pockets 22, which are padded and are attached to the main wall 20 of the middle section. On the alternate side of main wall 20 of the middle section is pocket 12A and 12B. On the opposite front or back wall 10 are pockets 32, which are medium pockets. Also shown is pocket 34, which is a shallow pocket. Immediately above pocket 32 is key holder 30, which is attached to front or back wall 10 and is hanging inside pocket 32. Open compartment 36 is open space still available for placing items after the middle section is inserted in the main unit.

The manner of using the invention is that a person would pack all the items carried in a purse into the pockets of the main unit shown in FIG. 1. The middle section shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 would also be packed as needed for additional items. The middle section is inserted into the open compartment of the main unit. Some pockets are padded to allow a person to carry fragile items such as eyeglasses without the need for addition protective cases. Keys would be attached to the key holder to prevent them from being misplaced. Some items would be placed into securely closed pockets. Some items would be placed into open pockets for ease in retrieving them. The main unit, once packed, would be placed inside a purse. When changing from one purse to another purse, a person slips one or two fingers into [0036] handles 14 and removes the main unit from the purse. The main unit is then placed into another purse. If changing from one purse to a purse of a smaller size, a person would remove only the middle section and place the middle section into the smaller purse.
Conclusion, Ramifications, and Scope [0037]
The invention, removable purse organizer, allows a person to organize the contents of a purse, and eliminates the work and inconvenience of changing purses. The organizer is constructed to allow for carrying a multiplicity of items of various sizes and shapes. The organizer is constructed to provide padded compartments, which eliminates the need for protective cases generally needed for items such as eyeglasses, personal electronic devises, and cellular phones. The pockets of the organizer are constructed to allow for easy and efficient retrieval of items and for easy and efficient replacement of items. The organizer can be placed inside purses of a variety of sizes because the main unit is constructed with flexible side walls. Also, the main unit has a middle section containing a variety of pockets, which can be removed from the main unit. The middle section can be constructed to be of any size smaller than the main unit. The middle section, once removed from the main unit, can be placed inside a smaller purse. A person is given the ability pack the organizer in a manner suitable for their personal needs and given the ability to change from purse to purse without unpacking and repacking the unit. A person is also able to change from a large purse to a smaller purse and from a smaller purse to a larger purse. [0038]

Claims

I claim:

1. A removable organizer, which is placed inside a purse or a bag comprising:

a) predetermined sized panels made from a pliable material, joined and attached adjacent to one another to form a pouch;

b) a multiplicity of pockets attached to inside walls of said pouch;

c) a separate removable middle section with a plurality of pockets, which can be removed from said pouch;

whereby, a person can use said pouch and said separate removable middle section to organize the contents of a purse, and

whereby, a person can use said separate removable middle section alone to organize the contents of a smaller purse.

2. The organizer of claim 1 wherein said pouch is constructed using materials such as taffeta, silk, or nylon.

3. The organizer of claim 2 wherein two panels forming the front and back sides of said pouch have a stiffening material sandwiched between the outer layers of material.

4. The organizer of claim 1 wherein said pockets are constructed in a plurality of shapes and sizes.

5. The organizer of claim 4 wherein said pockets are constructed to include a plurality of materials such as felt and velvet for lining said pockets.

6. The organizer of claim 4 wherein the said pockets are constructed with a padded material such as cotton quilting sandwiched between the layers of outer material.

7. The organizer of claim 1 wherein loop handles are affixed to said pouch on two opposing said panels.

8. The organizer of claim 1 wherein said separate removable middle section is constructed from the same materials as said pouch and has said stiffening material sandwiched between the outer layers of material.

9. The organizer of claim 8 wherein said separate removable middle section can be constructed in a multiplicity of sizes smaller than said pouch.

10. The organizer of claim 9 wherein said separate removable middle section has a multiplicity of pockets affixed to a main wall.

11. The organizer of claim 10 wherein said main wall is constructed of the same materials as said pouch with the addition of said padded material sandwiched between the outer layers of material.

12. The organizer of claim 1 wherein a key holder is attached to inside said front or back panel of said pouch.
