Abstract
The nature of the technical disclosure of my invention embodies an entirely new methodology to ensure a body cleanliness after toilet use here-to fore unattainable with the previous state of the art via the pressure controlled, directionally adjustable solid beam of a clean ¼″ dia.water jet which only touches the targeted area and which by its thorough action eliminates any use of customary toilet paper. It is not like having a bidet in the toilet bowl but more like upgrading the toilet with a new water-pick-like feature with numerous beneficial hygenic benefits.
Description
- The field of the invention is a new, useful and effective method of removing any remnants after intestinal evauation, which occur with toilet use.The invention allows total cleanliness to be obtained without any use of customary toilet paper. A saving of precious tree resources. Its design emits a small dia. adjustable pressure jet of clean water to totally dislodge and clean, without wetness to surrounding skin areas. Such precisely targeted cleaning action solves the problems so-called “bidet-type shower-heads in the toilet” fail to address. The “bidet in the toilet concept” has been unable to become commercially viable. Women who are receptive to the bidet manner to clean their private parts will not use a toilet mounted fixture, since it is used for solid waste as well. They prefer a seperate private sit-bath with its temperature controlled soft spray as a comfortable sanitary way.Further research in this area produced a prime case to prove the commercial failure of the toilet/bidet combination in the market place. The Hydrogiene Corp., web-side www.hydrogiene.com, featuring the UB(ultimate bidet) was reported last year to have ceased operations by the ISS (Institutional Shareholders Services, Inc.) My Sep. 4, 2002 letter (delivered to the PTO examiner's office on Sep. 10, 2002) elaborates on the shortcomings-encountered in the prior art (state of technology), which my invention solves with the “out of the box” thinking that went into its overall design comprising different components to achieve a thus far elusive objective.
- The object of my invention is to facilitate, shorten and make more effective and comfortable a daily chore we humans are faced with, namely to clean ourself when using the toilet, of sticky remnants of waste. Wads of paper are mostly used in western countries, bottles with water as a popular substitute often in oriental countries, all methods that require a rubbing action etc. By contrast a solid beam formed by the ¼ inch dia.water jet the Water-Wipe emits replaces all that. The conveniently located pressure control valve allows progressive settings until desired cleanliness is obtained, no paper, no bottles, no spunges.Let us think of the ecological bonus, many trees will be saved once the Water-Wipe becomes the new way to do the job.
- To open up this possibility the design has been thought out with carefully planned components, which only passed mustard if these did not require to be manufactured, they had to be standard “off-the-shelf” hardware store items and the number required as few as possible but consistent with my goal of affordability, reliability and ease of installation. Several prototypes later the choice was reduced to only 8 stanard parts with an out of pocket expense of less than $40.—at current rates. This without having as yet not entered into negotiations towards potential quantity discount structures. The design that emerged presents the possibility to develop a “do-it-yourself” kit, which will really stimulate affordability, one of the stated objectives.
- The drawings,all on a single page,comprise:
- FIG. 1—shows a standard toilet with the seat and cover raised, in perspective, with all the parts in place.
- FIG. 2 shows details of the wall (floor) mounted dual shut-off valve assembly.
- FIG. 3 depicts the mounting bracket.
- FIG. 4 covers the 2½ ft of ¼ inch dia.copper tube which directs the beam of water to its destination, with the end portion in its shaped condition.
- FIG. 5 is the exploded view of the location and method of the mounting bracket installation.
- FIG. 6 covers a close-up view of the angle shut-off valve assembly (control valve) showing components and connections.
- The drawings (all 6 figures) contain numbers (1 through 18). The explanation of each one follows:#1—dual outlet shut-off valve,#2—details hinge attachment toilet seat and cover,#3—mounting bracket,#4—angle shut-off valve (control valve),#5—a 2 inch length of ⅜″ dia. #6—compression nut with sleeve, #7 union part complete with compression nuts, #8—compression nut with sleeve,#9—the 2½ ft. of ¼ inch dia copper tube showing first progressive stage of bending process,#10—S shaped part of tube with curve to clear the toilet rim, #11—straight portion of tubing which via the groove will pass under the bracket, #12—groove across width of bracket's underside in the middle of the 2 bolt holes,#13—pressure control valve handle of #4 assembly, #14—shows the final bending stages of the tube for its connection to
part # 7, with the #15 compression nut, sleeve in place, #16—adapter to accomodate thread differences, #17—flexible water supply hose tonumber # 4, #18—flexible water supply hose to toilet's tank. - The invention of the Water-Wipe represents a new and useful concept which achieves in an affordable manner an entirely different way in which to deal with clinging remnants after intestinal evacuation while seated on the toilet. The process and sequence of mounting the parts that make up the Water-Wipe, where they go and how to make the connections are fully explained in the step by step instructions that are supplied with each kit, including a list of standard tools to use. Pending on his or her's dexterity it takes from 1 hour to 1½ hour to complete the job. As for production quantities, since the Water-Wipe system is entirely composed of standard parts, available from the local hardware store, we do not require manufacturing capabilities to supply the demand from the “do-it-yourself” market, the kit contains the works. As for the wholesale market, licensed distributors of Bathroom Accessories will receive full disclosure of the source and nature of the parts to be used in their programs to assemble in commercial quantities the device for installation on the toilets they market.
- For the better understanding of the invention's subject matter for which I apply for a patent, an overall perspective drawing is submitted on the next page which shows how a standard toilet would look with the Water-Wipe system installed. For the Examiner's convenience I have added FIGS. 1 through 6 depicting close-up details of the major hardware store sourced components Also all parts, 18 in all, are identified with
numbers 1 through 18 with lead lines and arrows as prescribed. Under the Specification heading, page 2 andpage 3, each item so numbered is identified as to its location and function in the overall system which constitutes the Water-Wipe.
Claims (3)
1) A new and effective system to dislodge and remove all remnants left behind on and around the colon exit after intestinal evacuation, while seating on the toilet.
2) The elimination of toilet paper use as the customary propduct of choice, to be replaced with the more effective cleaning method the Water-Wipe system provides with its unique pressure adjustable targeted ¼″ water jet beam.
Ecological benefits (saves trees)
Constipation/enema self relief administration
Therapeutic hygenic touch beneficial to hemorroid tissue
3) The production of the Water-Wipe system requires no manufacturing as all its parts are “off-the shelf” hardware store items, resulting in affordability and ease of installation by potential “do-it yourself” clients.
