Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a support device to provide a support for a worker when kneeling down to work, thereby preventing sore and pain in the legs and knees of the worker and preventing the pants of the worker from becoming dirty and/or wearing out as a result of being in contact with the ground.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- In some cases a worker has to kneel down to obtain a better support while proceeding with the work in a convenient way. However, the worker often suffers from pain and sore in the knees and/or the legs when kneeling down too long. In addition, the pants of the worker become dirty and/or wear out by the ground.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a support device to provide a support for a worker when kneeling down to work, thereby preventing sore and pain in the legs and knees of the worker and preventing the pants of the worker from becoming dirty and/or wearing out as a result of being in contact with the ground.
- A support device for kneel-down work in accordance with the present invention comprises:
- two spaced support members having a distance greater than a width of a leg of a user, each said support member comprising an end plate and an extension member including a first end securely connected to the end plate and a second end;
- a knee plate comprising an end pivotally connected to the second end of the extension member of each said support member;
- a first strap having two ends attached to the knee plate, the first strap being adapted to be mounted around an upper portion of a shank of the user;
- a seat frame comprising a seat and two parallel connecting plates respectively extending from a side of the seat, each said connecting plate being pivotally connected to an associated one of the end plates; and
- a second strap having two ends attached to the seat, the second strap being adapted to be mounted around a lower portion of the shank of the user;
- wherein the knee plate and the end plates are in contact with the ground and the seat provides a support for a hip of the user when a leg of the user wearing the support device kneels down.
- Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a support device for kneel-down work in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the support device for kneel-down work in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 3 is a schematic view illustrating a leg of a worker wearing the support device for kneel-down work in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 4 is a schematic side view illustrating use of the support device for kneel-down work in accordance with the present invention.
- Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a support device for kneel-down work in accordance with the present invention generally comprises two spaced
support members 1 having a distance greater than a width of a leg of a user, aknee plate 3, afirst strap 5, aseat frame 2, and asecond strap 4. Eachsupport member 1 comprises anend plate 11 and anextension member 12. Theextension member 12 includes a first end securely connected to theend plate 11 and asecond end 121. - The
knee plate 3 comprises apad 31 mounted thereon. In addition, theknee plate 3 comprises an end pivotally connected to thesecond end 121 of theextension member 12 of eachsupport member 1. In this embodiment, theknee plate 3 has a hole orslot 32 in each of two sides thereof, and a screw (not labeled) is extended through theslot 32 and ahole 122 in thesecond end 121 of theassociated extension member 12 and then engaged with a nut (not labeled). - The
first strap 5 has two ends attached to the sides of theknee plate 3. In this embodiment, each side of theknee plate 3 includes apeg 33, and each end of thefirst strap 5 includes a connectingpiece 51 having anengaging hole 511 for releasably engaging with thepeg 33. Preferably, thefirst strap 5 is adjustable in a length thereof. - The
seat frame 2 comprises aseat 21 and two parallel connectingplates 22 respectively extending from a side of theseat 21. Each connectingplate 22 is pivotally connected to an associated one of theend plates 11. In this embodiment, apad 211 is mounted on the other side of theseat 21. In addition, eachend plate 11 comprises a plurality of spaced firstengaging holes 112, and each connectingplate 22 of theseat frame 2 comprises a plurality of spaced secondengaging holes 221. At least one screw (not labeled) extends through at least one of the spaced first engagingholes 112 and at least one of the spaced second engagingholes 221 and then engaged with a nut (not labeled), thereby allowing each connectingplate 22 to be adjustably engaged with the associated one of theend plates 11 to suit users of different shank lengths. - The
second strap 4 has two ends attached to theseat 21. In this embodiment, theseat 21 comprises twopegs 23 respectively formed on two sides thereof. Thesecond strap 4 comprises two ends each including anengaging piece 41 having anengaging hole 411 for releasably engaging with an associated one of thepegs 23 of theseat 21. Preferably, thesecond strap 4 is adjustable in a length thereof. - As illustrated in FIG. 3, the
first strap 5 is mounted around an upper portion of a shank of the user, and thesecond strap 4 is mounted around a lower portion of the shank of the user. The shank of the user is located between theextension members 12 and between the connectingplates 22. As illustrated in FIG. 4, theknee plate 3 and theend plates 11 are in contact with the ground and theseat 21 provides a support for a hip of the user when a leg of the user wearing the support device kneels down. Thepad 31 of thekneel plate 3 provides a comfort support for the knee of the user, and thepad 211 on theseat 21 provides a comfort support for the hip of the user. Thus, by means of provision of the support for a worker in accordance with the present invention, when kneeling down to work, sore and pain in the legs and knees of the user is prevented. Also, the pants of the user is prevented from becoming dirty and/or wearing out as a result of being in contact with the ground. - Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
