Abstract
A base of a golf bag comprises a flat surface; an inclined surface larger than the flat surface; a cut-out member in the inclined surface; and a slip-resistant means integrally or releasably formed on the inclined surface and comprising two portions separated by the cut-out member, each portion comprising a plurality of inclined surface regions and a plurality of grooves each for separating two of the adjacent inclined surface regions. In an upright state of the golf bag, the flat surface is rested on ground, while in a use state the golf bag is partly supported on ground by the slip-resistant means.
Description
- The present invention relates to golf bags and more particularly to an improved slip-resistant base of golf bag.
- A conventional golf bag comprises a bag member, two legs pivotably attached to the top edge of bag member, and a support having one end attached to top portions of legs and the other end attached to (or pivotably attached to) base. Typically, there are three designs of base. Namely, the first type of base is a flat surface. The second type of base is a flat surface with teeth provided on the periphery. The third type of base consists of two portions wherein one is a flat surface and the other is an inclined surface. In use, user may pull legs outward to form an angle with respect to bag member (i.e., inclined). At this position, golf bag is supported on the ground by two legs and a base. However, all of above designs are not stable. In detail, with respect to the first type of base the friction between base and the ground is small due to the flat surface of base. With respect to the second type of base the friction between base and the ground is slightly larger than the first type of base due to the increase of friction between toothed edge of base and the ground. With respect to the third type of base the friction between base and the ground is the largest among all. But they are still unsatisfactory for the purpose for which the invention is concerned because of the incorporation of flat surface on base. Hence, even when the conventional golf bag is in a supported state it is still possible for the occurrence of slip. In response, user may press golf bag down a little to make it more stable when golf bag is in a supported state. However, it may require a great effort to pull golf bag up from the ground when user wants to carry golf bag to another place. Thus, it is desirable to provide an improved slip-resistant base of golf bag in order to overcome the above drawbacks of prior art.
- It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a base of a golf bag comprising a flat surface; an inclined surface larger than the flat surface; a cut-out member in the inclined surface; and a slip-resistant means integrally formed on the inclined surface and comprising two portions separated by the cut-out member, each portion comprising a plurality of inclined surface regions and a plurality of grooves each for separating two of the adjacent inclined surface regions; wherein in an upright state of the golf bag, the flat surface is rested on ground, and in a use state of the golf bag the golf bag is partly supported on ground by the slip-resistant means.
- It is another object of the present invention to provide a base of a golf bag comprising a flat surface; an inclined surface larger than the flat surface; a cut-out member in the inclined surface; and a slip-resistant means releasably formed on the inclined surface and comprising two portions separated by the cut-out member, each portion comprising a plurality of inclined surface regions and a plurality of grooves each for separating two of the adjacent inclined surface regions; wherein in an upright state of the golf bag, the flat surface is rested on ground, and in a use state of the golf bag the golf bag is partly supported on ground by the slip-resistant means.
- The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a first preferred embodiment of slip-resistant base of golf bag according to the invention;
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a golf bag incorporated the FIG. 1 base;
- FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the lower portion of FIG. 2;
- FIG. 4 is a side view of the golf bag where legs are extended;
- FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a second preferred embodiment of slip-resistant base of golf bag according to the invention; and
- FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of the lower portion of a golf bag incorporated the FIG. 5 base.
- Referring to FIGS.1 to 4, there is shown a first preferred embodiment of slip-
resistant base 10 of golf bag constructed in accordance with the invention. Thebase 10 is substantially a cylindrical member comprising a smallerflat surface 11, a largerinclined surface 12, a slip-resistant device 121 integrally formed on theinclined surface 12, a cut-outportion 13 ininclined surface 12 for separating the slip-resistant device 121 into two identical portions, and arecess 131 on the top horizontal side of the cut-outportion 13, therecess 131 being attached to one side of aflexible plate member 22 while the other side ofplate member 22 is attached to the bottom of anextension rod 21. The characteristic of the invention is the slip-resistant device 121 which has a sufficient friction when contacting the supporting ground. The slip-resistant device 12 comprises two identical portions each consisting of a plurality of inclined surface regions wherein two adjacent inclined surface regions are separated by a groove. - In an upright state of golf bag,
flat surface 11 is rested on the ground whileinclined surface 12 is above and at an angle with respect to the ground (FIG. 3). In use, user may pulllegs 23 outward to form an angle with respect to bag member 20 (i.e., inclined). At this position, golf bag is supported on the ground by twolegs 23, the joint ofextension rod 21 andplate member 22, andinclined surface 12. It is envisioned that golf bag is stably supported on the ground with the provision of slip-resistant base 10 (FIG. 4). - Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, there is shown a second preferred embodiment of slip-resistant base of golf bag according to the invention. The difference between this and first embodiments is that a slip-
resistant device 151 offlat member 15 is glued to theinclined surface 14. In other words, it is possible of replacing a new slip-resistant device if the old one is worn out. - While the invention has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims.
