Abstract
A new and improved attachable cabinet shelf is disclosed for storing a step stool or other piece of equipment, with the attachable cabinet shelf combining the traits of allowing for easy storage and easy accessibility for a user. The cabinet shelf would be attached to the underside of a fixed cabinet shelf within a cabinet. Space would be present between the present invention and the fixed cabinet shelf in which to store a step stool or other important equipment that would frequently be needed.
Description
- The present invention concerns that of a new and improved cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item which combines the traits of allowing for easy storage and easy accessibility for a user.
- U.S. Pat. No. 5,341,897, issued to Gross, discloses a collapsible and retractable step apparatus having first and second steps.
- U.S. Pat. No. 5,131,492, issued to Caminiti et al., discloses a collapsible folding step stool which is mountable to a cabinet door.
- U.S. Pat. No. 5,085,290, issued to Guirlinger, discloses a foldaway step device for use in conjunction with a cabinet door.
- U.S. Pat. No. 4,846,304, issued to Rasmussen, discloses a collapsible step apparatus for use combination with a kitchen cabinet shelf.
- The present invention concerns that of a new and improved attachable cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other piece of equipment, with the attachable cabinet shelf combining the traits of allowing for easy storage and easy accessibility for a user. The cabinet shelf would be attached to the underside of a fixed cabinet shelf within a cabinet. Space would be present between the present invention and the fixed cabinet shelf in which to store a step stool or other important equipment that would frequently be needed.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of a cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item in detail, it is to be understood that the cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item is capable of other embodiments and being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of descriptions and should not be regarded as limiting.
- As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regard as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
- It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item which has all of the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.
- It is another object of the present invention to provide a cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.
- It is another object of the present invention to provide a cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item which is of durable and reliable construction.
- It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a cabinet shelf for storing a step stool or other item which is economically affordable and available for relevant purchasing government entities.
- Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment when considered with the attached drawings and appended claims.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention as it would appear before being incorporated with a fixed cabinet shelf.
- FIG. 2 is a front view of the present invention as it would appear before being incorporated with a fixed cabinet shelf.
- FIG. 3 is a front view of the present invention as it would appear after being attached to a fixed cabinet shelf.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention as it would appear before being incorporated with a fixed cabinet shelf, while FIG. 2 is a front view of the present invention as it would appear before being incorporated with a fixed cabinet shelf.
Attachable cabinet shelf 2 would comprise aflat tray 4, a pair of side extensions, left extension 6 andright extension 8, and a pair of attachment sections,left attachment section 10 andright attachment section 12. The various parts ofattachable cabinet shelf 2 would preferably be fabricated from metal, but could also be fabricated from another sturdy material. -
Flat tray 4 would preferably be about nineteen and one-half inches in width and about fifteen inches in depth.Flat tray 4 would have two sides, a top side and a bottom side, and further, would have a front edge, a rear edge, and two side edges, a left side edge and a right side edge. - Left extension6 would have two edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, with the bottom edge being attached to the left edge of
flat tray 4 at a ninety degree angle. Left extension 6 would be approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one and one-half inches in height.Right extension 8 would have two edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, with the bottom edge being attached to the right edge offlat tray 4 at a ninety degree angle.Right extension 8 would be approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one and one-half inches in height. -
Left attachment section 10 would have two edges, an inner edge and an outer edge, with the inner edge being attached to the top edge of left extension 6 at a ninety degree angle.Left attachment section 10 would be approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one inch in width.Right attachment section 12 would have two edges, an inner edge and an outer edge, with the inner edge being attached to the top edge ofright extension 8 at a ninety degree angle.Right attachment section 12 would be approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one inch in width. - FIG. 3 is a front view of the present invention as it would appear after being attached to a fixed
cabinet shelf 14. To be properly used, leftattachment section 10 andright attachment section 12 would be fixedly attached to the underside of a fixedcabinet shelf 14 within a kitchen or other location. Ideally,attachable cabinet shelf 2 would be used to store a step stool, but could also be used to store other items that may be useful at times but also would be more appropriately “stored away” when not in use.Attachable cabinet shelf 2 would be ideal for using a step stool or other related equipment frequently and also allow the user to have the equipment remain close, yet at the same time, keep the equipment out of the way until it would be needed. -
Flat tray 4 would have some plastic 16 located on the top side offlat tray 4. The presence ofplastic 16 would allow a user to more easily slide in a step stool or other piece of equipment stored withattachable cabinet shelf 2.
Claims (4)
1. An attachable cabinet shelf comprising:
(a) a flat tray, the flat tray having two sides, a top side and a bottom side, the flat tray being approximately nineteen and one-half inches in width and approximately fifteen inches in depth, the flat tray having a front edge and a rear edge, the flat tray further having two side edges, a left side edge and a right side edge,
(b) a pair of extensions, a left extension and a right extension, the left extension having two edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, the bottom edge of the left extension being attached to the left edge of the flat tray at a ninety degree angle, the left extension being approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one and one-half inches in height, the right extension having two edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, the bottom edge of the right extension being attached to the right edge of the flat tray at a ninety degree angle, the right extension being approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one and one-half inches in height,
(c) a pair of attachment sections, a left attachment section and a right attachment section, the left attachment section having two edges, an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner edge of the left attachment section being attached to the top edge of the left extension at a ninety degree angle, the left attachment section being approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one inch in width, the right attachment section having two edges, an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner edge of the right attachment section being attached to the top edge of the right extension at a ninety degree angle, the right attachment section being approximately fifteen inches in length and approximately one inch in width, and
(d) at least one piece of plastic attached to the top side of the flat tray.
2. An attachable cabinet shelf according to claim 1 in combination with a fixed cabinet shelf, the fixed cabinet shelf having a bottom side and a top side, wherein the left attachment section and the right attachment section would be fixedly attached to the bottom side of the fixed cabinet.
3. An attachable cabinet shelf according to claim 2 in combination with a step stool, the step stool being folded up and placed on the top side of the flat tray.
4. An attachable cabinet shelf according to claim 1 wherein the flat tray, the pair of extensions, and the pair of attachment sections would be fabricated from metal.
