DISPENSING DEVICE FOR PLASTIC SUBSTANCES Filed Marh 14, 1936 Patented Mar. 9, 1937 UNITED STATES DISPENSING DEVICE FOR PLASTIC SUB- STANCES Ferdinand F. Gay, Beverly Hills, Calif.
Application March 14, 1936, Serial No. 68,869
Claims.
This invention relates to a device for expelling a desired quantity of plastic matter, such as tooth paste, shaving creams, face creams and the like from collapsible tubes or similar containers 5 without the necessity of squeezing the same between ones fingers.
Another object is to provide a device which may be readily attached as a fixture in bathrooms where tooth pastes or other plastic toilet substances are usually employed, in order that easy and convenient access may be had to the same when desired and by which the entire contents of the tubes may be finally expelled.
Still another object is to provide a device which is simple in operation and inexpensive to manufacture.
I accomplish the above and other objects by means of the device described in the accompanying specification and illustrated in the drawing attached hereto, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the device as it appears when attached to a wall or a fixed support.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the device.
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the device.
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the device with a collapsible tube of plastic substance mounted therein shown in dotted lines.
Referring now more specifically to the accompanying drawing 5 designates the entire device which preferably consists of two complemental die stamped metallic members 6 that are riveted or otherwise secured together as indicated at 9 to form the collapsible tube holding device. Each member has a flange I0 adapted to be secured in place by screws II or other suitable securing means to a fixed support, such as a wall.
Extending outwardly from the flanges and at substantially right angles thereto are flat members l2 through which pass the rivets 9 for rigidly securing the members together. Formed in members 6 are semi-cylindrical portions [4 with their outer vertical edges terminating in clampof the other semi-cylindrical portion is a collar 23 that serves to move the member engaged thereby outwardly.
When it is desired to secure atube of tooth paste or other plastic substance in the device, bolt 20 is operated to spread the clamping jaws apart to permit the insertion of the tube between the same; the bolt is then turned in the reverse direction to securely clamp the tube in position.
When a supply of paste or cream is desired the cap C of the tube is removed and the hand bolt is operated to squeeze the jaws together to force the desired quantity of paste or cream from the tube. The above operation may be completed from time to time until all the paste or cream in the tube is expelled therefrom. From the foregoing it will be seen that as the tube holding jaws extend the full length of the tube the entire contents of the same may be expelled and used without waste.
In order to render the device convenient for the user, hooks 24 are provided adjacent the upper ends of members l2 on which tooth brushes (not shown) may be suspended.
From the above description it will be seen that I have provided a simple device by means of which a tube of plastic substance will be securely held in position for the instant supply of paste or cream therefrom, and further such device will obviate any misplacement of a tube of paste or cream which often occurs when the same is used by diiferent persons.
I claim:
1. A plastic dispensing device comprising a pair of complemental members having longitudinally disposed semi-cylindrical portions adjacent their inner ends, their outer vertical edges forming clamping jaws for the reception of a collapsible paste tube, and means engaging the semi-cylindrical portions of said members to force the jaws together to extract a quantity of paste from the tube.
2. A dispensing apparatus for plastic substances comprising a pair of complemental members secured together having outwardly curved portions adjacent their inner ends, and tube gripping jaws at their outer ends, and means engaging the curved portions of said members to contract or expand said jaws.
3. A dispensing device for plastic substances comprising a pair of complemental metallic members having outwardly curved portions adjacent their inner ends adapted to be mounted on a fixed support, said members being secured together, the outer ends of said members being formed into whereby when the outlet to the tube is removed a desired quantity of plastic substance will be expelled therefrom on a contraction of said jaws.
5. A device for dispensing plastic substances from collapsible tubes comprising a pair of sheet metal complemental members having tube gripping jaws on their outer ends, and jaw moving means secured to both members for moving said jaws in parallel relation towards and away from each other.
