This invention relates to temporary or consumer containers for milk bottles and the like and has for its object the provision of a novel, simple, inexpensive container adapted for use in a large variety; of locations with very satisfactory results.
Referring to the drawing of one embodiment of my invention shown and described herein:
Fig. 1 is a plan; Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the container mounted upon "a conventional support broken away, the tablet being removed;
Fig. 3 a similar view with a legend-bearing tablet or back on the frame or body; and
Fig. 4 a perspective of a modified form of container.
My novel bottle container, Figs. 1, 2, may comprise a frame or body of metal or any suitable material, fashioned if preferred of wire, round or otherwise in cross-section, bent to form a curvilinear loop 1,of desired size. The two ends of the wire are then, Fig. 5 1, extended rearwardly a short distance,
forming a neck 2, so that the loop will set away from the wall or other support to which the container is secured. The wires.
are then turned downward (Fig. 2) as at 3 to form a vertical or downwardly extended neck, for a purpose to be presently explained,
and thenbent laterally, forming top bars 1,
and again downwardly, forming side bars 5. The bars 5 are then bent laterally again to form the bottom bars 6 in substantially the same vertical plane asthe members 4, and are then turned downwardly and secured, as by a welding, forminga neck 7. The neckends 8 are then bent forwardly at a V-angle and upwardly as at 9 to form a support for the 3 The bar ends 3 and 7 are carried downwardly to form necks so that the nails or screws in the apertures may be inserted with go danger of hitting the ring 1 or forked ars 8.
Now, if the described container is secured to a suitable upright supporting member 12,
the milk-man can quickly and readily deposit the bottle in the container without delay, the base of the bottle resting within the guides 10.
This container guards against accidental damage to the bottle from the activities of children, household pets, as dogs and cats, 1
and from the wind, as well as from moving ptiazza chairs and persons using the steps, e c.
If desired, a plate 13 of metal or other appropriate material may be provided with holes 14- registering with the holesll in the container so that it can be mounted upon and by the same screws as the container; or
the plate may have its side edges inwardly turned, as at 15 in Fig. 1, to grip the members 5, in lieu of the holes 14 for the screws, or both means may be provided. This plate may contain business notices for the milkman, such as the hours of delivery of milk, directions for caring for the milk, etc., or advertising.
If preferred, obviously the wire frame members 5, 6, 8 and 10 may be omitted and the plate 13 secured at the top to the neck 3, and the lower end of the plate secured directly to the support 12, or the bars 5 may be dispensed with and the top members 4-, and bottom members 6 to 10 inclusive secured with the plate 13 to the support.
The modified form shown in Fig. 4 is more simple and inexpensiveto make but has no bottle-holding bars or curved members for the bottom of the bottle.
My invention is not limited to the precise embodiments thereof herein described and illustrated.
I claim:
A bottle holder comprising a wire bent to form a loop to receive the bottle neck, the wires then being bent downwardly forming a neck, then laterally in opposite directions and then downwardly to form side supports; and from the bottom of which the wires are turned laterally toward each other, then downwardly forming a second neck, then angularly forward forming a V-shaped sup port for the bottle, then upwardly, then curved rearwardly forming opposed sides to hold the bottle in position. v r
In testimony whereoL I have signed my name to this specification.
GUY W'. EDWARDS.
