The primary objectof the invention is the pro- 5 vision of a tray of this character wherein lighted cigarettes when left in the tray will be prevented from falling therefrom and at the same time the burning ashes will break from the cigarette and be caught by the bowl of the tray, while the stub of such burning cigarette will have become shortened to fall within thesaid tray and thus eliminate the possibility of such stub leaving the said tray. 1 g g Another object of the invention is the provision of a-tray of this character wherein its body is thereof a raised portion formed with a fluted pee riphery presenting pockets or seats so that when a lighted cigar or cigarette is brought to rest within the bowl, the lighted end thereof will be accommodated in a seat or pocket so that such cigar or cigarette will be prevented from gravitation inwardlyof the bowl beyond its position of rest and thus eliminating smoldering should the cigar or cigarette. drop completely into such bowl and 'at the same time the cigar or cigarette at rest can be conveniently grasped or handled for the further smoking thereof on removal from the tray.

Anotherobject-of the invention is the provision of a tray of this character wherein the construction thereof is novel in form so as to properly hold a cigar or cigarette while lighted and at rest in'the tray, and convenience to a smoker for access thereto when removing such cigar or cigarette when in the tray, to avoid the complete dropping of such cigaror cigarette thereinto. A further object of the invention is the provision of a tray of this character which is extremely 40 simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and emcient in its purposes, readily and easily portable, light inweight yet strong and durable, and

inexpensive to manufacture.

Referring to the drawing in detail, particularly Figures 1 and 2, A designates generally an ash tray constructed in accordance with the invention and including a body 5 preferably made from glass, although it can be made from any other suitable material, and this body in its upper side is dished to form a bowl 6, in this instance of circular contour confronted with a marginal rim 1, while at one point peripherally of such body is an enlargement 8 having builded thereon a jaw 93, this being of a size and shape to permit of the fixing of a box of matches H for convenient access to the user of the tray and as is conventional.

A tray of the kind described comprising a body formed in the shape of a. bowl, and an enlargement within the bowl at the center thereof and having a notched perimeter, the enlargement being protruded perpendicularly from the bowl, and the outer wall of the body being of a height to incline a cigar or cigarette at rest thereon the direction of the enlargement, the said bowl being formed with radially disposed grooves merging into said notches in the'enlargement.
