Vvision of a display table for self serving stores Referring to the drawings in detail, ivherein similar reference characters designate corresponding lpartsv throughout the several views, the letter A generally indicates one form ofthe improved table, which comprises the corner legs 10 which can he'of an ornamental character if preferred. The legs 10'4 adjacent to the lower terminals thereof are braced by longitudinally extending and trans- 'verse stripsor bars l1 and 1 2' which sup- -of sheet metal if so desired and ,terminate short of each other@ at the longitudinal center of the table defining a drip and dbris slot 17. Directly below the drip and dbris slot 17 is arranged a removable trough 18 which is slidably mounted through one end wall v15 of the table. The troughy 18 can also be formed from sheet metal ifso desired andcan be supported in any preferred way suchas by usual drawer guides. As' shown a trans- "verse strip 19 is carried by side walls 14.- upon which the trough rests. The front end of the trough 18 is provided with a suitable hand pull 20`for facilitating the manipulation of vthe trou l1. Any desired type or merchani vdise can e placed upon the inclined shelves lill or trays 16 such as fresh vegetables and it is obvious that the drip therefrom will fall into the drawer 18. This drawer is also adapted to receive dead leaves and the like from the vegetables and other dbris from the store. It is thus obvious that all dbris will be kept hidden and the store will thus present a clean and pleasing appearance at all times. These troughs can be emptied at desired intervals into suitable waste recep-` tacles.

The use to which the tables can be put for displaying different kinds of merchandise is unlimited and thus every use will not be delined. It might be well to mention however, that perishable goods can be displayed thereon such as meat or iish and it preferred the drawers 18 can be utilized for the reception of packed ice to facilitate the keepingr of said perishable goods.

In this insta-nce it might be well to provide suitable covers for the tables in order to keep the goods in a sanitarycondition, said covers are illustrated in Figures 8 to 9. In the embodiment shown, the covers embody triangular shaped end walls 25 which support upright cleats 26 having depending tongues Q7 for engaging the end walls 15. The end walls 25 support longitudinally extending strips 28 to whicli can be connected by means of hinges 29, lids 30 which permit the contents ot' the table to readily be moved therefrom.

The hinged lids 30 preferably are provided with transparent panels 31 in order to permit the contents of the tables to be readily seen by the customers.

The tables are to be constructed in different sizes so that the same can be used `for different purposes and 1n FiguresY 5 and-6- is sho'wn adouble. table land it is to be understood that still larger tables can be constructed embodying a greater number of supporting trays. rl`he table illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 is generally indicated by the reference character 40 and also embodies corner legs 41 which are braced adjacent to their lower ends by longitudinally and transversely extending strips 42 and 43. The upper end of the table has secured to the legs, walls 44 which confine and support a series of pairs of oppositely inclined trays' or shelves 45 and 46.` The oppositely inclined trays or shelves 45 are arranged on one` side of the table while the oppositely inclined pairs of trays 46 are arranged on the opposite side of the table. rlhese trays can also be formed of sheet metal and the innermost trays of the pair of trays can be formed integral if so desired as shown in the drawings. In this instance the tra-ys forming the pairs of trays 45 and 46 are also spaced at their inner ends to define drip and dbris slots 47 and positioned directly below the slots are the drip and dbris receiving troughs 48. rI'hese troughs 48 are slidably carried by one of the walls 45 of the table and can be provided with suitable hand pulls 46.

If desired special articles can be placed on the tables in baskets so as to prevent the confusion thereof with other articles placed on the tray, and if desired the baskets can be made of wire or the like so that they can be readily drained to permit the drip to iiow into the said drip and dbris trough.

From the foregoing description, it can be seen that I have provided a novel display table for self serving stores which is of an exceptionally simple and durable character in which the goods to be sold can be readily displayed and kept in a cleanly and sanitary condition.

'A table for storing commodities for sale comprising a rectangular supporting frame open at its top and bottom, legs supporting the frame, the said frame including side and endwalls, shelves extending longitudinally between the end walls and secured at their4 ends thereto, the relatively remote edge of each sheltlbeing disposed in abutting relation to the innerside of a respective one of the side walls of the frame, the shelves being inclined downwardly and inwardly toward each other and terminating at their lower longitudinal edges in juxtaposition to each other'whereby to provide a relatively narrow drain slot between their said lower edges,

7 and a trough removably arranged Within the frame beneath the lower portions of the shelves and having an open top occupying a plane spaced below the lower edges of the shelves and presented to said drain slot.V
