UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT W. JOHNSON, OF NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO JOHNSON & JOHNSON, OF NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY, A CORPORATION OF JERSEY.
RACK roza ADHESIVE rLAsTEa.
Application filed. June 23,
The invention relates to mountings mainly for hospital use for dispensing adhesive tapeor plaster, and it provides an eflicient and easily operated rack to accommodate factory filled spools or reels of adhesive tape or plaster, the object being to guard against substitution of inferior or competitive tape or plaster. v
The preferred embodiment is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is an elevational view of the improved rack assembly.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the locking standard in open state.
Fig. 3 is a top view section. v
Fig. 4 is an end view of the same.
According to the invention, there is provided a base 5, which may rest upon a table or like support or be attached to a wall as by screw fasteningsfi. The base carries a pair of standards, whereof the standard 7 is equipped with a centering boss 8'and whereof the standard 9 is equipped with a locking boss 10 for a rod or spindle 11 which received a factory filled and locked assembly of variable width adhesive tape or plaster units 12. 7
The locking boss 10 is divided to provide a releasablehalf boss 13, which is hinged by a pintle mounting 14 in order that it may thereof, partly in assume the position Fig. 2, for the application or removal of the spindle 11. The movable half boss, 13, is provided with an end wise ranging screw threaded socket 15, which, when the half boss is in closed position, is adapted and arranged to register with a threaded opening 16 in the standard 1927. Serial No. 200,941.
body and to be engaged and so locked by a thumb screw 17.
In hospitals and the like places where devices of this nature find their chief utility, the plaster is mounted and dispensed by femal attendants possessing little or no knowledge of mechanics, and the instant problem is'to devise and providea plaster reel mounting which will fulfill the primary simple enough to be foolproof.
Having described my invention, 1. claim 1. A rack for factory, filled adhesive plaster, including elements for centering and locking a plaster carrying spindle, comprising a base and a pair of standards rising therefrom and having integral bearings for the spindle, one of said bearings having boss divisions whereof one is shiftable laterally to provide a radial passway for the spindle,
and means penetrating the standard and effective to lock and unlock the shiftable boss element. V
2. A rack for factory filled adhesive plaster, including elements for centering a plaster carrying spindle, one of said eleoffice of preventing substitution and yet be 7 ROBERT" w. Jo'H soN.
