BREAST BEAUTIFIER Filed Se'pt. 13, 1927 Patented Feb. 10, 1931 UNIT-ED sfrA'lfE-s PATENT OFFICE MEBGKELBACH, NE WERNER, OIE FLSHING, NEW YORK BREAST nnnufrmmn Application led September 13, 1927. Serial No. 219,316.
This invention relates to improvements in apparel particularly in body garments, and more particularly in bust holders, and it is the principal object of my invention to pro.` I vide a device of this character which I calla .L
breast beautiier adaptedto produce a slim and well proportioned form bringing the bust back to its natural location without dis-.
1l outward showing'of an over-developed bust,
and a supporter which may be worn upon the bare skin and will not scratch or otherwise injure the same4 while, when worn withan evening dress for instance, it will allow free i bending forward w'ithout danger of injury to the wearer, or of pinchin the same.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a bust supporter which is'durable and simple in its construction, as well as inexpensive in its manufacture, yet com fortable and eicient in its'wearing, effects and qualities.-
A still further object of my invention is the provision of a bust supporter which is hygenic in every respect and does not in any `way prevent free respiration, or movements of the body.
These and other objectsof my invention will become more fully known a's the description thereof proceeds, and will then be speciiicall defined in the appended claim. In t e accom anying drawing forming material part o Athis disclosure Figure l-is an innerplan view of my bust supporter, extended.
Figure 2,--is a section on line 2-2 of Figure 1. n
Figure 3-is a section on line'3--3 of Figure 1.
The bustholder constructed according to my invention consists of a central part constituting the bust holder roper, and can v be made of any material suita le for the purpose and in any size and 4color desired. The
.50 material of this part is strengthened by. mar- .of the device in back of the'wearer. der-straps 18, 18', are secured at one end to ginal reinforcing seams 11 or the-like and a plurality of inner reinforcing bands 12. My improved breast-beautifier has preferably the form shown in Figure 1 in which the lower part of the central portion is substan- Aftially triangularly shaped, as indicated at 13, t
and formed into a lower point, to which is attached a loop 14 or the like adapted to secure the device to a corset, etc., in order to l limit the upward movement of the supporter.
To leach side edge of the central part a plurality-of elastics 15, .15', are attached at one end, the other ends of which are secured to the side parts or wings 16, 16', having upper pointed parts formed by their bevelled upper edges in approximately the middle thereof, and, which at their outer side edges or seams carry hooks 17 and eyes 17', respectively adapted to allow-a securing or fastening the upper'poin'tededge of the side wings and at their other ends to the upperv outer points of the middle part, at a distance from the side edges thereof. The -bust will find its resting place in the middle portions designated 19,19 constituting breast forms sn`11g- ,ly -fittingthe breasts, engaging and supportin the same as indicated in Figure'. 2.
t will be clear that in this manner I have i produced a bust supporter really beneficial to every woman and girl and whlch will make l the figure as slim as possible presenting a ybeautiful and well proportioned form adapted to produce a good t of the dresses. The
bust supporter constructed vaccording to my invention will not pinch the bust or Hatten the same, and will allow comfortable breathing. While the majority of the bust supporters now in use force the bust downward and thus strain the muscles of the breast and give'an unnatural appearance around the waistline, my bust supporter does away with all these .disadvantages and produces the appearance of a firm bust, and slim contours, thus preventing the bust from standin out prominently. If attached von the bo y in an evident manner my bustosupporter willV bring the bustbaclr to its natural location rendering the hanging down of th'eb'ust impossible, 100
Shoul- 70 and thus eliminating the appearance of an over-developed bust.
.As shown in Figure 1, a 'strengthening member 20 is sewed onto the lower part of the central member just above the triangular position 13 thereof.
A stifening band 21 is attached at its tapering ends-22 between the median reinforcing bands 12. Said band'is wider at its middle part and serves to hold the bust supporters in their correct places.
It will be understood that I have described I and shown the preferred form of my breast beautier as one example only of the many ways to practically make the same, and that I do not wish to limit myself to the exact form and make shown, but reserve my right to make such changes as come within the scope of the appended claim without departure from the spirit of my invention and the principle involved. y
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is An undergarment comprising a fabric body having upper and lower portions, the lower portion being tapered downwardly from its sides towards its center the upper portion having extensions tapered upwardly from its sides and center to form upwardly converging edges for the extensions, portions of the I upper portion being bulged outwardly to form breast receiving pockets each disposed intermediate the width of one of the extensions and in spaced relation to margins of the upper portion. reinforcing strips extending vertically of the upperportion in spaced relation to each other transversely thereof and converging downwardly, certain of said strips cross pockets intermediate the widths thereof from the apexes of the extensions and others being disposed between the pockets, side wings having their upper ends tapered upwardly elastic strips connecting the side wings with side edges of the upper portion and being spaced one above another, shoulder straps having their ends secured to the apexes of the side wings and extensions of the upper portion of the body, and means to releasa 1y join the side wings at the back when' the garment is worn.
Signed at New York in the county of New York and State of New York this 12th day of September A. D. 1927.
