Description
CARD HOLDER 29, 1930. J. v. SCYHAFER 1,755,335
Filed July-l8, 1929 Patented Apr. 29, 1930' UNITED STATES PATENT JOHN V. SGHAFER, F BRONSON, MICHTGAN, ASSIGNOR TO BRONSON REEL COMPANY,
' OF BRONSON, MICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN oAnD HOLDER Application filed. Jul ls, 1929. Serial No. 379,181.
My invention relates to holders for-thin flat objects which will generally be termed cards because of their shape and thinness. The holder of my invention comprises two substantially complete turns'of closely and spirally wound spring wire and a base to which the ends of the wire are secured, the turns of the wire being substantially perpendicular to the base. the adjacent faces of the twoturns of wire are substantially in asingle plane to avoid the warping of a card inserted between said face portions.
The invention will be more fully explained in connection with the accompanying drawing in which l is a front elevation of the preferred embodiment of the invention; Fig. 2 is a side elevation; Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing a card held by the device; and Fig. 4: is a view somewhat similar to Fig. 2, but showing a card in place, some parts of the holder being shown in section.
The holder is inclusive of a base 1 which is preferably metallic. This base is desirably circular in contour, concave upon its bottom face, and convex upon its top face. The card receiving portion of the holder is composed of preferably slightly more than two turns of closely and spirally wound spring wire. The ends 2, 2 of the wire are desirably in lapping relation, the two complete turns 3 and 4 of the wire being sandwiched between said lapping ends. When the holder is empty, the adj a cent faces of the two rings are desirably in contact. The wire portion of the holder is preferably secured to the holder base by spot welding to provide a bond which serves to hold the wire portion perpendicular to the base. The portions of the adjacent faces of the two turns of wire that are most remote from the base are substantially in a single plane to avoid warping of a card inserted between these face portions. The bond 5 holds the turns of wire together where these turns are contiguous to the basev so as to increase The upper portions of holder comprising two substantially complete turns of closely and spirally wound spring wire and a base to which the wire is spot welded at the ends of the wire, the turns of the wire being substantially perpendicular to the base, the portions of the adjacent faces of the two turns of wire that are most remote from the base being substantially in a single plane to avoid the warping of a card inserted between said face portions. 7
2. As a new article of manufacture, a card holder comprising two substantially complete turns of closely and spirally wound spring my name.
JOHN V. SOHAFER.
the grip which the wire turns have upon the inserted card. I
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim: 1. As a new article of manufacture, a card
