One of the most important objects of this invention is to provide such a container that is of relatively simple constructionv and inexpensive of manufacture, the same embodying but few parts, and these so co-related as to reduce the possibility of disarrangement to a minimum.
' With the foregoing and other objects in 25 view as the nature of the 'invention will be better understood the same comprises the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views:

Figure 3 is a vertical section taken at right angles to Figure 2 and substantially upon the line 33 of Figure 1.

Figure 5 is an enlarged fragmentary section taken through the ratchet gear housing arranged at one end of a manual control shaft provided for the convenient raising of the false bottom wall or follower, and
Figure 6 is a perspective of a member associated with the false bottom wall or follower and slidably arranged at its opposite ends within the container to prevent rotation of the said wall or follower.
f Now having particular reference to the drawings, 5 designates a container of predetermined capacity and preferably of cylindrical formation open at its upper end. Within this container 5 is a pair of opposed longitudinally extending guide channels 6.6, while arranged within the container and of. a diameter less than the. internal diameter of the container is a false bottom wall or follower 7 of circular shape preferably having ventilatingopenings therein as disclosed in Figure 2. Arranged upon the under side of this false bottom wall or follower is a cross bar 8, the opposite ends of which are down turned to provide lugs 9-9 slidable within 5 the guide channels 6-6, this unit preventing the turning of the bottom wall or follower within the container. 7
Arranged at opposed points at the upper end of said container 5 is a pair of vertical arms 10-10 within the upper ends of'which is journalejtl a cross shaft 11, one end thereof being shaped to receive a suitable handle 12 whereby the shaft may be rotated. At the opposite end of this shaft 11 there is attached Z5 to the container 5 a circular gear housing'13 open at its inner side, while keyed to the end of the shaft 11 within this housing is a ratchet gear 14 cooperating with which is a I pivoted spring'actuated dog 15 to prevent the accidental rotation of the shaft 11 in one direction.
'Interconnecting the shaft 11 and said false bottom wall' or follower 7 is a pair of cords or cables 16--16 which when the shaft 11 is 85 rotated will, be wound thereon for obviously raising the false bottom wall or container and thus elevating the material therein so that said material will at all times be displayed as disclosed in Figure 1. Furthermore, by reason of this provision ready access may be had to the material within the container without requiring the Storekeeper bending over and lifting the material out of the container.
Obviously by releasing the dog 15, the false bottom wall or follower 7 will drop to the bottom of the container so that the same may be completel vfilled with goods.
In view of the oregoing description when considered in conjunction with the accoman drawin it will be ap arent that I hav i ivided ah iglhly novel, si inple and extreme y useful dis ay device for containers, and even though I ave herein shown anddescribed the invention as consisting of certain detail structural elements it is neverthe less to be understood that some changes may be made therein without affecting the spirit and scope of the appended claims. I
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is v 1. In a displa receptacle, a container 0 n at its upper en a pair of opposed longitudinally extending on the inner side wa s of the container, a false bottom arranged for vertical movement within the container and being of a diameter less than the distance between the innermost edges of the opposed guide channels, a cross bar secured to the under side of the false bottom, the ends thereof extending beyond the peripheral edge of the false bottom and adapted for slidable movement within the respective ide channels, said channels and the proecting end of the cross bar cooperating to prevent rotation of the false bottom within the container, and means at the upper end cross bar cooperatin to of the container wherebythe false bottom may be raised.
2. In a display receptacle, a container open at its upper end, a pair of opposed longitudinally extendin guide channels arranged on the inner side walls of the container, a false bottom arranged for vertical movement within the container and being of a diameter less than the distance between the innermost edges of the opposed guide channels, a cross bar secured to the under side of the false bottom, the ends thereof extending beyond the peripheral ed e of the false bottom and adapted for slida 1e movement within the respective guide channels, said channels and the projecting end of the revent rotation of the false bottom wit in t -e container, a pair of arms extending upwardly from the upper end of the container at opposed points, a cross shaft journaled for rotation throu hthe upper portions of said arms, a ban le on one end of the shaft for actuatin the same, a ratchet wheel secured on the ot er end of the shaft, a pivoted spring controlled dog for.
cooperation with the ratchet wheel to prevent rotation, of the shaft in one direction, and a. cable attached at its lower end to the false bottom and at its upper end to the shaft and ada ted to be wound therearound when the 'sha t is rotated in one direction to raise the false bottom in the container.
