Application filed April 18, 1927. Serial No; 184,547.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a gaming device.
One object of the invention is to provide an apparatus of the character described whereby a game, such as base ball, may be simulated.
Another object of the invention is to provide an apparatus of'the characterdescribed, specially designed for indoor amusement,
which may be cheaply and easily constructed.
and whereby the simulating game may be easily played. p
lVith the above and other objects in view tain novel features of construction arrangement of parts and use, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 shows a plan View of the device, partlybroken away, and I Figure 2 shows a cross sectional view taken on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in eachof the figures,
guards 3, 8, secured to the upper side thereof extending from end to end of said" board.
Spaced from the transverse stop 2 with its ends secured to the side guards 3 there is an apron 4 whose upper, edge is also spaced the desired distance below the upper edge of the field board. Underneath this apron and upstanding from the board 1 are a plurality of transverse rows of pins 5, the pins of each row being spaced apart and the respective rows of pins also being spaced apart. The pins of some of the rows are preferably disposed in staggered relation with respectto the pins of the other rows. Secured to the upper side of the field board '1," and arranged between the apron 4: and the stop 2- are the ball receiving pockets, as 6, which pockets are distributed transversely and are disposed in a: plurality of transversely'arranged series'of pockets, as shown, with passageways, as 7,
between some of the pockets of the upper series through which the ball 8 may pass to reach the pockets of the lower series.
As shown the device will be usedinsimu lati'ng a game of base ball, the pockets being provided to indicate the plays'ma'de, al-
though the device may be used forsimulating other gamesthan base ball. A p
In usethe device is placed in a declining position and the ball 8 is dropped from the upper edge beneath the apron 1 and'will pass down between the pins 5 and will eventually fall into one of the pockets 6, the particular pocket receiving the ball indicating the play made. v r
l/Vhat I claim is: v
1. A device of the character described including a declining field board, having a plurality of series of pockets disposed transversely across theboard, projections upstanding from the board all of which are arranged above the pocketsiand spaced apart to pro,- vide passageways for a ball between them and an apron carried by the board over said projections and above the pockets.
, 2. A device of the character described in cludinga field, astop across one end of the field and marginal guards at the edges of the field, atransverse apron supported on said guards above the field, upstanding projections on the fieldbeneath said apron and spaced apart, pockets on the field beneath the projection and between said apron and stop.
3. A device of the character described including a declining-field, a. stop across the lower end of the field and marginal guards at the edges of the field, a transverse apron supported on said guards andwhose upper and loweredges fall short of the correspond ing edges of the field upstanding projections beneath said apron and spaced apart, pockets series being spaced apart toprovide ball pas sageways between them.
In testimony whereof I have name to this specification. I
j i ROBERT" NICHOLSON.
