E. E. MARSHALL WRAP Filed Aug. 14. 1926 Z ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 6, 1928.
UNITED STATES EDITH ERD MARSHALL, 0F PORT HURON, MICHIGAN.
WRAP.
Application filed August 14, 1926. Serial No. 129,207.
My invention relates to wearing apparel and refers particularly to wraps or robes.
An object of my invention is a device which may be employed as an ordinary carriage robe or wrap robe and which can be easily converted into a sleeveless coat, or cloak capable of placement around the wearer encompassing the body of the wearer and being so fastened as to prevent accidental removal.
While my device is capable of general adoption, it will find its greatest usefulness for infants and small children because it can be used as an ordinary carriage robe, but when desired, can'be changed into a fixed wrap, thus affording better protection to the infant, and allowing of carrying it with greater ease and" comfort.
A consideration of this specification and its accompanying drawings will indicate the novelty and advantageous features of my device.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating one form of the device of my invention, similar parts are designated by similar numerals.
Figure 1 is a front view of one form of my device in closed, or folded position.
Figure 2 is a view of the device of Figure,
1 in open, or unfolded, position.
The particular form of the device of my invention shown in the accompanying drawings comprises a blanket, or textile covering, ll), preferably embroidered, or suitably decorated upon one side thereof, 10, as shown.
Upon the side 10 are affixed two separable male and female sn. fasteners, 11, 11 and. 12, 12, so positioned that when the respective parts are affixed to each other, the device will be folded with-the opposite edges slightly overlapped.
Along the edge 10, I afiix a plurality of hooks 13, 13, 13 and along the opposite edge 10, I afiix correspondin eyelets 14, 14, 14. I prefer to affix the hoo 13, 13 upon the side 10 of the device and the eyelets 14, 14; upon the side 10 of the device, so that when it is folded and hooked, the hooks and eyes will not show, as shown in Figure 1.
Along the top edge of the device on the side 10, equidistant from the center of the HEX edge and the respective side ed s, I a two hooks 15, 15, and upon the si e 10 I atfix two eyelets 16, 16 so positioned that when the hooks 15, 15 are. inserted therein, the two upper corners of the device will be when in this folded position it entirely folded over to form an approximate right angled triangle.
It will be noted that the books 15, 15 and the eyelets 16, 16 are thus concealed from sight.
It will be seen from the above that when my device is in open, or unfolded, sition, as shown in Figure 2, it may be emp oyed as a blanket, robe or wrap, and may be converted into a sleeveless coat, or cloak, encompassing the body ofan infant by folding it and fastening it as shown in Figure 1, and
compasses the .body of the wearer, wi the exception of the head, and cannot become accidently displaced or removed.
I do not limit myself to the particular size, shape, number, or arrangement or material of parts as shown and described as these are given simply as a means for clearly describing the device-of my invention.
What I claim is 1. In a wearing apparel, in combination, a blank of, textile fabric, a pluralit of fastening means along the opposite ed esthereof .apable of maintaining the said edges in overla-pped position when the device is folded with an open bottom portion and a plurality of fastening means capable of maintaining opposite corners in non-abutting.
over-lapped approximately right-angled position forming a neck opening at the upper portion of the folder device and between the over-lapped corners.
2. In a wearing apparel, in combination, a blank of textile fabric, a plurality of fastening means upon opposite sides of the blank and along the opposite edges thereof capable of maintaining the said edges in over-lapped position when the device is folded with an open bottom portion and a plurality of fastening means capable of maintaining opposite corners in non-abutting over-la ped approximately right-an led position orming a neck opening at tie upper portion of the folder device and between the over-lapped corners.
3. In a wearing a parel, in combination, a blank of textile fa ric, a plurality of fastening means along the opposite edges thereof capable of maintaining the said edges in over-lapped position when the device is folded with an open bottom portion and a plurality of fastening means upon opposite sides of the blank and capable of maintaining opposite corners in non-abutting overlapped approximately right-angled position forming a neck opening at the upper portion of the folder device and between the over- 6 lapped corners.
4. In a wearing'apparel, in combination, a. blank of textile fabric, a plurality of fastening means upon opposite sides of the blank and along the opposite edges thereof capable 10 of maintaining the said edges in over-lapped position 'when the device is folded with an open bottom portion and a plurality of fastening means upon opposite sides of the blank and capable of maintaining opposite corners in non-abutting over-lapped approxi- 15 mately right-angled position forming a neck opening at the upperportion of the folder device and between the over-lapped corners.
Signed at Port Huron, in the county of St. Clair and State of Michigan, this 10 day 20 of August, 1926.
