Description
Patented @en 3?, ii-f-i.
FRANZ TSCHERNTSCHEK, OI1
TRATENAU, CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
FLYCATCHER.
Application filed April 9,
To all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, FRANZ TsoHnRNrrs- Gunn, a cftizen of the Czechoslovakian Re public, residing' at No. 8 Bahnhofstrasse,
5 Trautenau, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Flycatchers (for which l have tiled applications in Czechoslovakia, November 29, 1922, March 10, 1923, and in Great 10 Britain, March 15, 1924i), of which the following' is a specification.
This invention has for its object to provide an improved {1y-catcher. The improved tty-catcher consists substantially of a hollow body tapering towards one end, and provided on its inner surface with a coating of viscoussubstance for catching flies. rThe wider end of the hollow body is open, and preferably also the narrower end of the hollow body is likewise open, so that on the hollow body being swung round or to-and-fro, a current of air will be caused to tlow into the interior of the said hollow body. Any ities that happen to be within the range of this current of air will be dra wn into the hollow body in which sooner or later they will adhere to the said coating of viscous substance, owing to the converging shape of the hollow body in its longitudinal direction.
Lin embodiment of this invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the iiy-catoher in its open position;
Figure 2 is a perspective view showing the tl \'catcher in a folded position.
n the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 1924:. Serial No. 705,349.
2.v the fly catcher is formed from a single blank of material shaped in the form of a hollow pyramid 5 having openings at the base and apex, the creases #i being formed by depressing the blank inwardly and longitudinally of the pyramid, which in addition to permitting of folding of the blank, constitute longitudinal reinforcing ribs when thel catcher is extended. A collapsible handle 6 is also connected to the outer surface of one side of the pyramid to facilitate manipulation of the device.
The improved fly-catcher is preferably made of paper, but any other suitable material may be employed in its manufacture.
As intimated'the interior surface of the hollow body is coated with. a viscous substance to which iies and the like adhere during the swinging of the device through the air, as apparent.
What I claim is An insect-catcher, comprising a blank of material folded to form a hollow pyramid having openings at the base and apex, the corner creases of the pyramid being longitudinally depressed inwardly permitting the same to be folded and also acting as reinforcing ribs, a coating of viscous substance on the interior surface of the pyramid and a flexible collapsible handle secured to the outside of said pyramid.
In testimony whereof I have signed my 'i0 name to this specification.
