gagement with the of reference, 10 and 11 designate respec' tively a pair of compact container members. or sections which are of substantially iden- Each member or section includes a bottom 12 and a marginal upstanding flange 13. said flanges being provided with aligned hinge knuckles 14 at one side through which a hinge pin 15 extends to establish a hinged connection between the same whereby said 7 sections may be swung to closed positionwith the free edges of the marginal flanges in contact, or to open position as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 whereby the members or sections are disposed alongside each other. Vithin each section a compact retaining ele ment 16 is arranged. which comprises a vertical flange or wall 17 and a horizontal flange or wall 1.8 at the upper end which is spaced below the free upper edge of the 8 flange or wall 13 of the container members or sections. The section 10 has hingedly secured as at 19 to a point at right angles to its hinged connection with the section 11, an intermediate member or section 20 which is of a shape and configuration similar to the sections and of a size to snugly fit within the open ends of the sections when the same are in closed relation. The member 20 is provided with a mirror retaining element 21 which secures the mirror 22 in place within the intermediate section 20. The intermediate section is so connected with the outer section 10 that when the case is folded the intermediate section partially extends into the open end of each of the outer sections and frictionally engages with the same to retain said outer sections in rel atively closed relation against casual opening movement The horizontal wall or flange 18 further constitutes a shelf for nintermediate sec ion whereby to limit. the inward swinging movement of the same into the section 10. The intermediate section has formed in its outer side wall at a point diametrically opposite its hinge 19 a recess 23 for the insertion of the finger or thumbnail to facilitate the swinging of the same to open position. The outer side wall of the intermediate section which is diametrically opposite the hinged connection between he sections 10 and 11 is provided with a catch lug orprojection 24, while the inside of the flange 13 of the section 11 at the corresponding side is provided with a keeper depression 25 whlch is adapted to coact with the catch lug to form a catch or fastening means.
