Description

Aug. 9
- 1,597,289 H. REINHOLD METAL BEDSTEAD Filed Sept- 2 1924 Minus:
Patented Aug. 24, 1926,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMANN REINHOLD, OF BERLIN, GERMANY.
METAL BEDSTEAD.
Application filed September 2,
This invention relates to an improvement in metal bedstead, and more particularly to an improved disengageable connection between the posts of the latter and the side men'ibers of the mattress frame by means of turnable brackets, the novelty consisting in the factthat said brackets are pivoted to said posts and adapted to be turned beneath said side members where they are clamped fast and locked, the upper surface of the mattress frame having thus no lateral upwardly projecting obstacles, which is partieularly advantageous for bedsteads used in inlirmaries or hospitals,
In the accompanying drawing: Figs. 1 and 2 show in a side View and in a plan view respectively the improved arrangement.
On each post a of a metal bedstead a turnable bracket 6 is pivotally arranged, of
which the horizontal member 0 is provided with grooves (Z and e, of which one is wide and the other narrow and shaped like an eye extending into the inclined bracket member 7".
Each end of the side members 9 of the mattress frame has fixed inwardly projecting conical pins in, h horizontally located 1924, Serial No. 735,450, and in Germany September 26, 1923.
thereon in such a way that, when the mattress frame is put in place on said posts and the brackets 71 are turned toward and beneath the same into their position of use, said pins 7t, h engage in the grooves d, e of said brackets and thus hold the mattress frame firmly in place; the engagement and disengagement of said fastening h, h, cl, 0 being effected in a very quick and easy way simply by turning the pivotal bracket 5 into the respective position.
Vhat I claim, is
In a metal bedstead, the combination of a side member of a mattress frame, a post car rying the latter, a turnable bracket pivoted to said post and adapted to be turned beneath said side member, and fixed inwardly projecting conical pins horizontally located near an end of said side member, said bracket having grooves therein arranged to engage over said pins when the bracket is turned into its position of use, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. 0
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
HER-MANN REINHOLD.
