narnnivs ARTICLE.
Application filled September 20, 1924. Serial No. 738,937.
Be it known that I, ROBERT a citizen of the United States, and a 1esi dent of Los Angeles,'in the county of Los Angeles and State of California., have invented certain new and useful Im rovementsin Bathers Articles, of which t e following -is a specification; K
This invention relates to bathers7 articles, and particularly to a new and novel article of manufacture which may be worn on the person of the bather and utilized as ya loss preventing means' for the preservation or protection of valuables or smallv pieces ot personal propertyv of the bather, and wherein, and incident to functional characteristics of the articles, the valuables will be safely stored in a water-sealed chamber to be secured against the effect of water.
My invention will be found decidedly uscful to leathers desiring to maintain personal control or possession of his or her jewelry,
' money, cosmetics, smokers articles or the like while the user is bathing. \A
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character having meansfor constituting a water-sealed chamber and means for preventing an accidental breaking of the seal or loss of one part of the device from another of the parte.
In the drawings- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the de- Figure 2 is a transverse section through the receptacle;` 1 A Figure 3 isf a view similar to Figure 2, showing aslightly modified form of my invention;` Figure 4 is a perspective View of the mirror' locking ring; and
' Figure 5 is aongitudinal section' through the device showing a modified form thereof. In carrying the invention into practice, I provide a wrist encircling strap 5 and a receptacle 6 supported thereby. The recepta-` cle consists of a body section 7 and a separable closure section 8. The body section has loops 9 through which portions of the stra 5 are passed.
T e cover section has an internal thread 10 on its flange 11 ada ted to be rotated on a similar thread on t e flange 12 of said body section. The flange 12 is formed with a broad shoulder 13 and concentric thererl with toward the base of the iange-is a shoulder 14, the lattersupporting a gasket l5 ada ted to seal against the lower edge of the ange l1. The closure section carries a broad flat gasket 16 which bears against the coacting shoulder 13 to form an ell'ective.
seal at the joint between both sections of the receptacle at the top thereof. I have provided thus double sealing means to positively protect the chainberl' against the entrance of Water thereto. The gasket 1- is lirmly secured against the under side or crown of the cover section by means of an upstruck portion 1S of said closure section.
In Figures 3 and 1, the closure section 19 is provided on its inner 'face with a mirror 20 held in position in an upstruck groove 21 by means of a spring locking ring 22. '.Ihe walls of the groove are formed or offset at 23 to engage against the scaling gasket 24. Except as herein set forth, this t'orm of my invention is the same as that shown in Figures 1 and 2.
In Figure 5, I employ a rectangular or elongated receptaclebody 25 having an opening 26 adapted to be closed by`a cover section 2'?. The opening extends at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the body 25. A partition 26a is hinged at 26b to the bottom of the body 25 and saine divides the receptacle into a cigarette compartment 26c and a coin or change compartment 26d. When it is desired to remove a cigarette from the compartment 26C, the coins are taken from the compartment 26d in order that the partition 26L can be folded down against the bottom of the body 25 to clear the opening 26. The lingers of the user can now be freely passed through said opening in order that' the cigarette can" be grasped and withdrawn. This form may be used when carrying cigarettes or smokers Y varticles, matches or the like.A By forming lsame can be removed therefrom as desired,
without breaking or injuring the same, When the closure is fully applied, the joints between the parts are firmly sealed so that water will not attack the contents.
In Figure 1, the 'closure section has its Harige 11 provided with a milled latch surface 28 which coacts with a spring detent 29 on the body section. As the cover section is adjusted onto its body section, the detent rides over the latch surface, and when the cover section is at rest, the teat 30 of the detent 29 ts yieldingly between adjacent milled portions of said sections. This holds the cover section against accidental loss and prevents retrograde rotation thereof.
'While l have referred to use of the device by bathers, it may be used to a desirable advantage by travelers Who, under attendant circumstances, are forced i to Ineke their abode in hotels or like places. -At night time, the device een be worn upon the wrist or, it desired, upon the ankle. The device is valso formed and designed 'whereby it iney be used as a vanity cesej and in such event,
seme tney be supplied with powder and rouge compacts and e hewn construction..
claim:
l 1. A Waterproof container comprising e. re-
puti' of the usual well 'eeptacle having' s. body section and n closure section, the body section having avconcentric series of shoulders, said closure section be ing threededly connected with the body sec tion, gaskets interposed between seid shoulders end mating parts of the closure sections to Seel the joints'between both sections and render saine Waterproof, one of seid gaskets carried by the closure section, a mirror on the under side of the closure section, and v portions upstruck from seid closure section and respectively concting with the mirror and seid one gasket to secure sanno in applied positions. l
2. A device vof the class described com.`
prising a receptacle having en elongated' body provided with an opening extending et en acute angle with re:pect to :i lim1 drawn longitudinally through the body, a folding partition adjacent to said opening end adapted to divide the body into a plurality of compartments, and a, closure adjust-able over said peninfr.
3. A Waterproof container comprising e bodyv section, a closure section detaeiiably secured to the body section and having on its inner side n centrally disposedthicltened portion flanged et its edge and spaced from the closure section to provide groovel en annular gasket surrounding the thickened portion end seated in the groove to seal the joint between the body section end the elo-- sure section, Sald flanged edge being bent to form an inwardly extendmg annuler hp.,
s inirror. and a locking ring engaging 'the' lip for securing the mirror to the thicliiened portion.
