Description
R. H. s'rlvLLMAN Filed Nov. 1924 I 4 (jm-ente@ @HW/W A v umm Feb. A2 ,1926.`
BAG HOLDERAND FILLING DEVICE Patented Feit. 2, 1926.
unirse starr,
RAYMOND H. STELLLVIAN, OF EATONT'WN, NEW JERSEY.
BAG HOLDER AND FILLING DEVICE.
Application filed November To all whom it 'may concern.'
Be it known that I, RAYMOND H. STILL- MAN, a citizen oi the United States, residing at Eatontown, in the county of Monmouth and State ot New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful ii'iprovements in a Bag Holder and Filling Device, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to bag holders and filling devices and is more particularly adapted to an improvement over my cepending application bearing Serial No. 745,469.
One of the important objects of the prescnt invention is to provide a bag holder and iilling device which is adapted to be secured in a rigid position on a counter or the like, means being provided tor vertically adjusting the bag holder with resp-ect to the iilling device to accommodate various sizes ot' bags.
A further object is to provide a bag holder and filling device ot the above mentioned character, which will save considerable time and labor and will further prevent the loss o'if the material while the bag is being filled with the same.
A further object is to provide a device of the above mentioned character, which is simple in construction, inexpensive, strong and durable and furthermore adapted tor the purposes for which it is designated.
Other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure l is a side elevation of the device embodying my invention, and
Figure 2 is a front end elevation thereof.
ln the drawing, wherein 'for the purpose ot illustrati-on is shown the preferred embodiment ot my invention, the numeral l designates a hopper which tapers smaller toward its forward end and terminates in a downwardly extending spout 2. The top of the hopper is open as is also the rear end. A tlange 3 extends upwardly from the botee, i924.
Serial No. 751,613.
tom of the hopper at the rear ends thereof and the upper edge of the flange is curved as clearly illustrated in Figure 2. T he purpose of this construction will hereinafter be more fully described.
rlhe 'hopper 1 is disposed on an incline and is adapted to be supported on a supporting standard 4, the latter being rigidly secured on the top ot a table or the like shown at 5 at one end so as to cause the spout 2 to extend downwardly adjacent the ends of the table or counter.
A vertical arm 6 is secured at its upper end to the end of the table or counter 5. A bag holder such as is shown at 7 is adapted for vertical sliding movement on the arm G and a suitable set screw 8 provides a means for supporting the bag holder in the desired adjusted position on the arm. This construction enables bags of various sizes to be supported so that the open upper end ot the bag will be disposed over the lower end ot the discharge spout 2 in the maner as clearly shown in Figure l.`
lith the parts arranged as shown in Figure l, the bag will be easily iilled with the merchandise, the receptacle Containing the merchandise by which the ysame is measured being adapted to be placed in the rear end ot the hopper l so that the receptacle will rest on the curved upper edge of the flange 3. rlhe merchandise will then by gravity pass into the hopper and be discharged through the spout 2 into the bag supported on the holder 'i'. By having the top ot' the hopper open, the person filling the bag may readily view the iilling of the bag and control the discharge of the merchandise into the bag.
A device oit the above mentioned character, will not only save considerable time and labor in viilling a bag with merchandise but will also prevent the loss oit the merchandise during such illing.
While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes in the size, shape and arrangement et parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what 5 I claim is In combination, a horizontal support, a standard rising from the horizontal support adjacent one end thereof, an inclined hopper mounted on the standard and disposed to extend over said end of the horizontal support, the lower end of said hopper being disposed vertically, and a bag holder supported from said end of the support and disposed below the lower vertical portion of the hopper.
In testimony whereof I aiix iny signature.
RAYMOND I-I. STILLMA N.
