do it known that I, RICHARD l-l. BOS'FRUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Diego, in the county of San Diego and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Game Tile Holders, of which the following is a soccitication.

My invention relates to a game tile holder, andthc objects of my invention are: first, to provide a holder of this class whereby the game iii-embers, sometimes known as tiles, used in games such as Mali jongg and the like, are adapted to be held in such. a position during the progress of the game that the same or the characters inscribed thereon cannot be viewed by the other pla ers, and whereby the tiles may be easily revei cal and displayed to the other ydayers when the game has terminated, without the tile inenn bers leaving or being removed from the holder, which latter function obviates the mixing of the game members or tiles of the various players on the table on which the game is played; second, to provide a holder of this class of substantially triangular cross-section and of considerable length, which is adapted to alternately rest on its narrower sides and is provided near the edges of its wide or hypothenuse side with ledges, which ledges are adapted to hold the tiles on the wide inclined or hypothenuse side between the same and against alternate ledges, respectively, when the game is in progress, in which case the tiles are concealed, and when the game is terminated, in which latter case the tiles supported thereon are adapted to be displayed; third, to provide a novelly constructed tile holder for games, and fourth, to provide a device of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, durable, and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.

ith these and other objects in view, as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain novel features of construetion, combination and arrangement of parts and portions, as will be hereinafter dc scribed in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereon, which form a part of this application, in which:

The ledge 2 at the normally lower edge of the inclined supporting surface when the game is in progress extends outwardly a greater distance than the ledge 23 in orderto provide greater precaution for retaining the tiles on the holder when the game is in progress. The narrower side l of my holder upon which the same rests when the game is in progress, as shown in 1, is preferably made flat so that a scoring schedule may be pasted or otherwise provided on the bottom thereof. The other wider side of my holder upon which the same rests when the same is rotated about the axis 6 at the right angle portion of the holder, as when the tiles positioned thereon are adapted to be displayed, as siiown in Fig. 2, is provided with a hollowed out portion 7 extei'iding longitudinally therewith, so that the holder may have a better base when resting in the latter position. The distance between the ledges 2 and 3 is slightly more than the length of the tiles 8 positioned between the same, so that the tiles may be easily removed from the holder when desired. The ledge 3 extends outwardly from the surface l. a distance substantially equal to the thickness of the tiles 8.

It is obvious from this construction, as

illustrated in the drawings and disclosed in the foregoing specification, that there is provided a game tile holder as aimed at and set forth in the objects of the invention, and though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions, I do not Wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement, but desire to include in the scope of my invention the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims,

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. A holder for supporting game members, consisting of a long member of substantially right-triangular cross-section and arovided near the opposite edges of its hypothenuse side with game members retaining means.

2. holder for supporting game members, consisting of a long member having a snl stantially right-triangular cross-section and provided at the opposite long edges of its hypothennse side with outwardly extending ledges, one of said ledges extending outwardly a greater distance than the other.
