A. MILLER SOAP HOLDER FOR FAILS original Filed June 27, 1923 A TTORNE Y Patented Jan. 12, 1926.
ANNA. MILLER, OF (JI-IICAGO ILLINOIS.
SOAP HOLDER FOR FAILS.
Application filed June 27, 1923, Serial No. 648,004. Renewed November 30, 1925.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANNA MILLER, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing in the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements. in Soap Holders for Pails,
tached to a pail or removed from the same as desired. Another object is to design the device in a form which may be easily and cheaply'stamped from a single piece oi sheet metal. i
In the drawing:
Figure l is a perspective view of the holder as attached to the inside of a pail.
Figure 2 shows the form of the blank as stamped from a piece of sheet met 1..
Figure 3 is a detail showing the bottom end. bent up.
Figure iis a detail showing the bottom end bent up and lone side bent around to meet the bottom end. i Figure 5 is a frontal view of the holder as completed by bending up the bottom end and bending around the sides to meet the bottom.
Figure 6 is a side view.
The invention consists of a blank 1 formed as shown in Figure 2, and hai ing a back portion 2, side portions 3 and a bottom portion 4. The side portions are seamed along lines 5 and 6 to mark off the side flaps proper from the frontal flaps 17; and the bottom along the lines 7 and 8 to mark oil the bottom flap proper i from tie fastening tabs 16. The back has two clamp fingers 9 punched therefrom, these lingers remaining integrally attached to the back at their upper ends 10 and being bent outwardly and downwardly to form shoulders 11 adapted to seat over the rim 12 of the pail 13. The bottom 4 is formed with a finger slot 14;, and the sides 3 are cut short enough so that when they are bent around to complete the holder they will not meet,
but a medial opening 15 will be left between the edges, this opening forming a continuation of the finger slot 14: of the bottom.
Fhe holder is completed by bending up the rim. The cake of soap is deposited in the box formed as described and may readily be removed by inserting the. finger through the finger slots described.
lVhile l have. herein described a certain specific manner and method of constructing: and assembling the elements of my in vcntion, it is understood that I may vary from the same in minor details. not depart ing: from the spirit of the invention, so as to best construct a practical device for the purpose intended, as defined in the: appended claim.
I claim:
A soap holder for pails made from a single blank of sheet metal and including a back portion having clamp lingers struck out therefrom and integrally attached to the back portion at their upper ends, the said fingers being; bent outwardly and downwardly to form shoulders adapted to seat over the rim of the pail; a bottom portion perpendicular to the back portion and formed. with a medial opening therein; fastening tabs bent pcrpendicularlyupward from the bifurcated bottom portion; side portions and frontal portions, the edges of the latter falling flush with the outer edges of the medial opening of the bottom portion, and bearing against and being adapted to be fastened to the said upturnedv fastening tabs, whereby the medial opening of the bottom portion is extended through to the top of the holder.
ANN A MILLER.
