UNITED STATES ARTHUR ZADEK, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DISPLAY DEVICE.
Application filed June 23, 1925. Serial No. 58,967.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ARTHUR ZADEK, citizen of the United States of America, re siding in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in a Display Device, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates generally to display devices and has reference to a device of this character particularly adapted for displaying small toys and other articles, such as childrens rattles which can be readily suspended from the device in display position.
This invention comprises a suitable base member supporting an upright upon which are mounted, at different elevations, continuous supporting racks of springy material provided with separably attached ends over which the articles to be displayed can be inserted and removed by disengaging the connection.
The object of the invention is to provide a display of this character which is durable in construction and attractive in appearance,
and which affords facilities whereby any selected article on the racks may be removed without removing any of the other articles displayed on the same rack.
A further object of this invention is to provide a rack made of one piece of mate-- rial which is formed with an annular portion and a radial spoke and hub to receive the upright of the supporting base.
The invention is illustratively exemplified in the accompanying drawing, in which, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved display device showing several articles suspended therefrom; Figure 2 is a plan view of one of the supporting racks; and Figure 3 is a perspective view of the separable fastening means for the ends of the rack.
Referring to the drawings, 10 denotes a base plate preferably round in plan and conical in cross section. The center of the base is provided with a boss having a threaded bore to receive an upright member in the form of a rod 11 of sufficient height to accommodate preferably two spaced supen posed supporting racks 12, each thereof comprising a single strip of springy metal. The strip of metal is folded together at its mid portion forming two parallel portions into a straight radial spoke 13, the material at I the inner end thereof being separated and bent to form a loop 14. The two strands of the strip beyond the spoke 13 are curved towards each other to describe an annular rack or hoop 15. Suitable separable fastening means 16 is provided at the ends of the curved strands so as to enable the ends to be readily released and the toys removed when desired...
The hoop portion 1a embraces a hub 17 which is provided with a bore to receive the rod 11 and a set screw 18 to be adjusted Preferably the lowermost rack 12 is" I the display stand by simply moving the .1
other rattles along the curved portions of the rack until the selected toy is adjacent the separable ends of the rack, which are then released and the article removed.
The present invention has a decided advantage over the types now in use for this purpose, which ordinarily include merely arcuate rods supported on braces and hav-- ing their ends upturned to prevent accidental removal of the articles supported on the rods, because the closed racks 12 of my device prevent removal of the articles under any circumstancesunless the ends are purposely separated. This provision does not interfere with the display purpose of the device and in addition enables any toy to be removed without removing any other toy on the same rack, and further prevents a dishonest person from removing an article from the rack without deliberately disengaging the ends thereof.
What I claim is: 1. In a display device of the character described, the combination of a base member, an upright therefor, and adjustable rack for the upright, comprising a single piece of springy metal strip bent at its mid portion to form parallel portions having a loop at the inner end to embrace the upright and opposite curved portions adapted to be brought together at their ends to form an annular portion, and separable l fastening means for the ends of said curved portions. 2. In a display device of the character described, the combination of e. Lease member, an npl'lght rod PPOJGUUHQ' from the base and a luraht of snaeed racks for 7 L the rod each thereot com 31151110 21 sln le -piece of spring-y materiel bent the mid portion to form parallel adjacent spoke portlons terminatmg at the end 111 a loop and having the portlons beyond the spoke curved and adapted to be brought together to form a continuous portion, means for separably 10 attaching the ends of the curved portions together, and a hub to engage the rod and to be embraced by the loop portion of the spoke.
In testimony whereof I athx my signature.
ARTHUR ZADEK.
