To all to 7mm it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORTON E. JoNEs, a citizen of the'United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Scaffolding, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to scaffolding supports, and it has for one of its objects the provision of a scaffolding support which may be adjusted to various heights.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a scaffolding support which may be readily taken apart to render it portable.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a scaffolding support which may be moved over-a floor on balls.
Vith the foregoing objects in View, together with such other objects and advantages as may subsequently appear, my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of two of my supports sustaining a scaffold.

Fig. 4L is a section taken on line 4l4 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings for a more detailed description thereof, the numeral 7 in dicates scaffolding boards resting on a pair of supports 8 which are of identical construction.
The support 8 comprises a horizontal beam 9 supported at either end 011 a standard 10. The standard 10 comprises a pair of members 12 which abut against the faces of the beam 9 and which are secured to the beam by means of a bolt 13, held in place by a nut 14.
Each of the members 12 is provided with a horizontal flange 15, on which the beam 9 rests". members 12 is positioned at an angle to the beam 9 and is provided with a recess adapted to receive the upper end of a tube 17 which is held to the member 12 by a pin 18, or in any other suitable manner, the tubes 17 diverging downwardly from the beam 9.
Each of the tubes 17 receives an adjust- The lower portion of each of the able member 20 which may be a tube such as ordinary piping and which is provided with transverse apertures 21 which are each adapted to receive a removable pin 22 passing transversely through an aperture in the lower part of the tube 17 for the purpose of holding the scaffolding at any desired height.
The lower ends of the members 20 are provided with members 24 which carry balls 25 so that the support may be readily moved over a floor.
The tubes 17 may be braced by a horizon tal member 27 which may, if desired, be made detachable from the tubes 17. Additional braces for the standard 10 comprise crossing members 29 and 30 respectively, joined together where they cross at a point 31 and secured at their ends to opposite legs of the standard 10.
The brace 29 is secured at its upper end to the tube 17 by means of a pin or equivalent fastening means 33, in a manner making it adjustable to the tube 17 at any desired angle. The lower end of the brace 29 may be secured to a member 20 by means of a pin 35 passing thru it and thru an aperture 21 in the member 20.
The brace 30 is connected to opposite legs of the standard in the same manner in which the brace 29 is connected. The braces 29 and 30' are of the same construction so that only one of these braces need be described. I The brace 30 comprises an upper section and a lower section 30 which has a longitudinal slot 30, the inner ends of the members 30 and 30 being overlapped and secured together by a bolt 37 which passes thru a spacing member 38. The bolt 37 also passes thru members of the brace 29 corresponding respectively to the members 30 and 30 of the brace 30. The bolt 37 engages the slot 30 in the brace 30 and also the corresponding slot in the brace 29, whereby the two parts of each brace may be adjusted longitudinally with respect to each other.
It will be seen from the foregoing description that I have provided a scaifolding support which may be adjusted to any desired height, and one which may be readily taken apart to render it portable, and that furthermore it may be readily moved from place to place over a floor.
While I have herein described one form 01 my invention, modifications thereof may be devised Without departing from the spirit thereof, and it is to be understood that such modifications come within the scope of this invention.
