It is the primary object and purpose of my present improvement to provide such a bag or case with interior means for removably receiving a watch, one wall of the ba or case having an opening therein througfi which the watch dial is gisible from the exterlor. I

More particularly, the invention contemplates an improved construction of the watch receiving ocket and means for attaching or securing t e same to the inner side of the bag 'or case wall which is invisible from the exterior of the bag and obviates the fpossible tearing of the bag lining in the requent opening and closing of the watch pocket.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention. consists in the improved form, construction and relative arrangement of the several parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and subsequently incorporated in the subjoined claims.

In the drawings wherein I have illustrated several desirable embodiments of'the invention and in which similar reference charactersdesignate corresponding parts throughout the several views:

In Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings I have illustrated a familiar type of ladys hand bag wherein the body 5 of the ba which is of leather or other suitable flexib e material of an ornamental character, is suitably attached to the opposite sides of a frame 6 the opposed sections of which are hinged together in the usual manner and provided with a suitable clasp 7 whereby the frame sections may be held in closed position. To the opposite ends of one of these frame sections the ends of a carrying strap, chain, or other ornamental hand piece 8 are attached. The body walls of the ba are interiorly lined with silk or othersuita le material indicated at 9. Between this lining sheet and one of the side walls of the bag body a" sheet of relativelvstifi reinforcing material 10 is inserted. is reinforcement may consist of a iece of leather, cardboard or other materiai suitable for the purpose and of any desired shape or form. The bodv wall of the bag, the reinforcement 10- and the lining sheet 9 are provided with registering circular openings as at 11, the edges of these openings being engaged by a flanged metal rlng or annulus 12, the flanges thereof being split and extending over the outer side of the body wall and over the lining sheet 9 and securely clinched thereon so as to tightly hold the body and lining sheets and the reinforcement 10 at the edges of the opening 11 against relative movement.

The watch receiving pocket as hereinshown consists of a piece of leather or other suitable flexible material 13 cut in the desiredsha e to provide spaced flaps or extensions 13 In the present instance ll have shown the pocket as rovided with three such extensions, one c which is located at the bottom of the ccket and the others at the opposite sides t ereof. These extensions are lpermanently secured at their ends by stitc ing or other suitable means indicated at 14, to the inner lining sheet 9 of the bag wall and to the reinforcing iece 10. The material 13 of the pocket wal is cut to provide the spaced closure flaps 15 at the upper side of the pocket, each 0 said flaps carrying the socket element 16 of a snap fastener.

The stud elements 17 of these fasteners are secured through the inner lining sheet 9 and the reinforcement 10 but do not extend through the outer body wall of the bag so that the fasteners are invisible from the exterior of the bag.

In the use of the device as above described, the watch may be readily inserted into the open pocket between the several flaps or extensions 13 and the upper side of the pocket then closed by securing the closure flaps 15 to the lining of the bag by means of the fastener elements 16 and 17. When so secured, the winding stem of the watch extends upwardly between said closure plates as seen in Figure 3 of the drawings. The watch is provided with a special dial D which is of approximately the same dimension as the internal diameter of the ring or annulus 12. When the watch is arranged in the pocket as above stated this dial is plainly visible from the exterior of the bag. The watch being entirely enclosed within the bag and secured in the pocket is thus protected against possible loss, while at the same time the characters on the watch dial'may be readily observed without necessitating the/opening of the bag. As the watch is closely confined in the pocket against one wall of the bag, it will not in any way obstruct the free insertion or removal of the hand when the bag is open. When the owner does not desire to carry the ba the watch can be readily removed from the pocket by detaching the closure flaps 15 and worn upon a chain.

In Figures 6 to 10 of the drawings, I have illustrated my present improvement as applied to a vanity case such as is usually carried by ladies and which is equipped with various toilet accessories. Such cases are usually of rigid construction, the body 18 and the cover 19 thereof being constructed of thin sheets of wood or other relatively rigid material 20 and covered upon the outer sides thereof with leather or other desired ornamental material 21, while the inner surfaces of said rigid walls are lined with silk or other suitable material 22. As in the construction first described, the side wall of the case body is provided with the opening 23 the edge of which is reinforced by the metal ring or annulus 24. The watch pocket 25 is of the same construction as above described and secured upon the inner side of the case wall in a similar manner. The watch may thus be closely held upon the wall of the case against movement with respect thereto and occupies a minimum of space so that numerous other articles may be contained within the case body such for instance as a purse 26 which I have herein shown as attached to one of the walls of the case body by means of a cord or chain 27.

From the foregoing description considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction, manner of use and several advantages of my present invention will be fully understood. The device is of great convenience and serviceability in practical use and owing to its simple construction, may be applied to articles of this character without necessitating any radical changes in the method of manufacture here-' tofore employed. I have above described several embodiments of the invention which have been found very satisfactory in practical use. Nevertheless it is to be understood that the device is susceptible of numerous modifications in the form, proportion and relative arrangement of its several parts and I accordingly reserve the privilege of resorting to all such legitimate changes as ma be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

I claim:

1. In combination with a receptacle of the character described having an opening in one wall thereof, a watch pocket secured to the inner side of said wall and consisting of a sheet of fiexiblematerial having a plurality of spaced extensions permanently se cured at their ends to the receptacle wall in spaced relation to the opening therein and being further provided at the upper side of the pocket with spaced closure flaps, and means for detachably fastening said flaps to the receptacle wall to confine a watch in said pocket with its dial in registering relation with the opening in said wall.

2. In combination with a receptacle of the character described, having a body wall and I inner lining sheet therefor provided with coinciding openings, a flanged ring or annulus clinched upon the body wall and said lining sheet at the edges of said openings, a watch pocket secured to the lining of said wall and consisting of a sheet of flexible material having a plurality of spaced extensions permanently secured at their ends to the receptacle wall in spaced relation to the opening therein and being further provided at the upper side of the pocket with spaced closure flaps, and means for detachably fastening said flaps to the lining sheet to confine a watch in said pocket with its-dial in reglilstering relation with the opening in said wa 3.
