WITNESSES MENTOR MAURICE KLEIN, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
BLOOMEER. DRESS.
i iiaose.
Patented June 6, 1922.
Application filed July 8, 1920. Serial No. 394,702.
T 0 all w I71 0m it may concern Be it known that I, MAURICE KLEIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Bloomer Dress, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to wearing apparel especially adapted for use by children, and has reference more particularly to a combination dress and bloomers.
An object of this invention is to provide a combination of bloomers and dress which is simple of construction and easy to launder.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification in which it is understood that the drawing illustrates only one form of the invention, and in which Figure 1 is a view of the bloomer dress in position.
Figure 2 is a sectional view through the bloomer dress being taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals, 10 indicates a dress having sleeves 11 and neck band 12 of the usual construction. The lower portion of the dress or skirt 13 is preferably provided with an inwardly and upwardly turned flap 1a which terminates at its upper end in a hem 15. The bloomers 16 are constructed in the usual manner with an elastic band 17 which passes through a tuck 18 formed on the bottom of each leg, said band being adapted to draw the bottom of the bloomers tightly around the childs leg. The upper end of the bloomer 16 is provided with a downwardly extending flap 19 which is positioned between the skirt 13 and the hem 15, and a seam 20 is sewed around the skirt 13, the threads of said seam passing through the skirt 13, the hem. 15, the flap 19, and the 1 upper edge of the bloomers 16. Thus a combination dress and bloomers is provided which is simple to manufacture, comfortable to wear, and easy to launder. By reference to Figure 1, it will be noticed that the upper end of the bloomer 16 is attached to the skirt 13 of the dress 10 a considerable distance below the waist thereof, and hence the bloomer 16 is out of the way when opening the dress or skirt at the back for sanitary purposes. It will further be noticed that by arranging the bloomer so far down as shown and described it requires practically only about one half of the material now used in making the usual bloomer.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A garment comprising a dress having a skirt provided at its lower portion with an inwardly and upwardly turned flap terminating at its upper edge in a hem located a distance below the waist line of the skirt, a bloomer provided with legs and having at its upper end an outwardly and downwardly extending flap enclosing the hem of the skirt flap and extending between the body of the skirt and the said hem, and a circumferential row of stitching fastening the said skirt, hem and bloomer flap together.
