INVENTOR A'I'TO RN EY T 0 all whom it may concern UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MAURICE W. WATERS, DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
DESK CALENDAR,
Application filed April 11, 1921. Serial No. 460,343.
Be it known that I, MAURICE WATERS,
' a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Desk Calendars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention comprehends the provision of a desk calendar, wherein the indicia with regard to the month, day and year is carried by endless belts movable within a casing and adapted to be presented to view through suitable sight openings formedin the casing;
Thenature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is readin connection with the accompanying drawing, the
invention residing in the combination, con. struction and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in tllSGVBlEl-l views and where- Figure 1 is a top plan view of, the calendar constructed in; accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view therethrough. V a
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view through the calendar.
Referring to the drawing in detail, 10 indicates the bottom 10 of a casing having front and rear walls 11 and 12 respectively which are connected'by end walls'13. The rear wall 12 projects a slight distance above the front wall 11, and the top 14 is thus arranged. at an angle or inclination as shown. The rear-wall may be used as a name plate. Arranged within the casing are spaced par titions 15 which divide the easing .into separate compartments, and at the same time form bearings for therollers 16. These rollers 16 are journaled within each compartment adjacent the corners thereof, and over each group of rollels is trained an endless belt. The belt 17 of one compartment contains indicia relativeto the months of the year, while the belt 18 in the adjacent compartment carries indicia relative to the days of the month, while in the final compartment there are two endless belts 19 and 19' trained overthe rollers, and. each hav ng numerals Specification of liette'rs Patent.
in consecutive order from one to zero. -The top 14.- is formed with sight openings 20 ab0ve each compartment, and each sight opening is closed by a pane of glass or other suitable transparent material 21. By rea- 'SODEOf this'fact the indicia carried by the belts in the respective compartments can be readily viewed. The glass 21 in the final compartment, or in other'words whereinthe endless belts 19 and 19 are arranged, has pa nted or otherwise arranged thereon the numeral 19, which numeral co-operates with the numerals carried by the endless belts l9 and 19 to indicate the year.
The front wall 11 is formed with spaced vertically disposed slots 22,- and projecting through each slot is a knurled disk or the like 23 through the instrumentality of'which 7 of the invention will be readily apparent, I
desire to have it understood that I do not described, and that such changes may beresorted' to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
What I claim is:
A device of the class described comprising a casing having an inclined top provided with aplurality of openings'and having a plurality of spaced'vertically disposed slots formed in the front wall thereof, a plurality of spaced partitions disposed in said casing,
a plurality of rollers journalled in suitable bearings in saidpartitions adjacent to the front and rear walls of'said casing, a plurality of endless belts surrounding said rollers bearing suitable indicia, and a plurality Patented Feb. '7,
urpose above mentioned. The inlimit myself ,to what is herein shown and i of knurled disks extending .through said slots and adapted to engage said belts.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
MAURICE w. WATERS.
