W. A. EVERS RAZOR BLADE HOLDER Filed Jan. 24. 1923 Petente J l.@, 1924,
WIL A. EVERS, OF MARTIN'SBUBG, T VIRGINIA.
ZOE-BLADE HOLDER.
Application filed January 24, 1928. Serial No, 814,674.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A; Evans, a citizen of the United States, residing at Martinsburg, in the county of Berkeley and 6 State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-Blade Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to improvements in razor blade holders, and more particularly to a device of this character adapted to provide a housing and holding means for safety razor blades of that type in which the blade is provided with means other than openings formed therethrough for holding the same in position upon the razor with which it is used.
An important object of the invention is to rovide a device of this character having a c amping plate for holding the blade in" adjusted position within the casing, together with novel means for holding the clamping plate against movement in the casing and for limiting the movement of the blade in one direction in the casing.
These and other objects I attain by the construction and arrangement shown in the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein like reference characters designate like parts throughout.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation of a holder with the blade extended;
F1 ure 2 is a similar view of the blade with rawn;
Figure 3 is a section'on the line 33 of Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a section on the line 4 -4 of Figure 1.
Referrin now more particularly to the drawings, t e numeral 10 indicates an elongated casing having a longitudinal opening 11 formed therein in whlch is adapted to be slidably mounted a razor blade 12. Mounted within the openin 11 and conformmgto the shaping of t e casing 10 is a clamping plate 13 substantially coextenslve with the casing and which is 'held in position within the casing by means of a swivel rlng 14 extending through the walls of the casing and through the end of the plate 13 at that end of the casing 10 remote from that at which the blade 12 is adapted to be'extended. The casing 10 has the last namedend thereof beveled, as indicated at 15, so that one edge wall thereof projects he 0nd the opposite edge wall and against th1s edge wall the back 16 of the blade 12 is adapted to be arranged. Threaded in the side wall of the casing 10 adjacent the last named end thereof is a thumb screw 17 the shank 18 of which is adapted to extend through the wall of the casing and abut the clamping plate 131' to force the same into engagement with the blade 12 to clamp the same in adjusted position. If desired, the side wall of the casing 10 against which the blade 12 slides may be provided with an opening 19 through which the finger may be extended to engage the blade 12 to extend the same.
Attention is called to the fact that when the blade 12 is housed within the casing 10, the swivel ring 14 limits the movement thereof toward the 0 posite end of the casing. This swivel ring 14 then performs three functions, that of holding the plate 13 stationary, limiting the movement of the blade in one direction and forming a'support by means'of which the casing 10 may be suspended. It being obvious that the structure hereinbefore set forth is capable of some change and modification without materially departing from the spirit of my invention, I do not limit myself to such specific structure except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim In a razor blade holder, a casing having an opening extending longitudinally thereof, ta plate substantially co-extensive with thecasing arranged within the opening, a swivel ring extending through the walls of the casing and plate adjacent one end of the casing, and a clamping screw extending through one wall of the casing and adapted to abut the plate to clamp the plate against JLIAM A. Evans
