To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, VIo'roR GUINzBURe, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and .State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Powder-Pufi Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a holder or pouch intended to contain a powder puff and has for its object to provide an article which willbe of simple construction; which will hold the powder puff securely and which will be of such material enabling it to be kept clean and sanitary at all times.

A further object of this invention is to provide a means for reinforcing the joined edges of the holder or pouch so that the possibility of the holder becoming torn at these points will be avoided.

With these objects and other objects which may hereinafter appear, in view, I have devised the particular arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth and more particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a powder pufi' holder made in accordance with my invention, a portion of the same being broken away to disclose the powder puff contained within the same, and a portion of the edge strip or binding being removed from the body of the article to disclose its construction, and

Figure 2 is a sectional view on the line 22 of Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrows.

Throughout the various views of the drawings, similar reference characters designate similar parts.

In the preferred embodiment of my invention as disclosed in the accompanying drawing, I construct the article of two fiat pieces or sections of material, such sections being shown at 1 and 2 and being preferably made of some expansible material such as thin sheet rubber or the like, which I have found ideal for this use due to its waterproof and sanitary qualities.

The sections 1 and 2 are preferably united to ether on the edge 3 by vulcanization or ot er suitable means to provide a bag of practically seamless construction. It is preferable to form the bag in the shape shown in the accompanyin drawing and provide such bag with a su stantially narrow mouth or opening 4. The powder puff 5 adapted to be held within the bag is preferably made of greater size then the entrance or mouth 4 so that that opening 4: must be expanded or stretched so as to enable the powder puff 5 to be placed within the bag.

After the puff 5 is within the bag, the mouth or opening i contracts to its normal position retaining the puff within the bag and preventing inadvertent removal therefrom.

At 6 is shown a binding strip which extends completely around the edge 3 of the bag and securely reinforces that edge. Such strip consists of a Hat, elon ated member folded upon its longitudina center line. The longitudinal edges of the strip 6 are inturned as at 8, thus providing the strip with thickened edges and a central thinner portion 7. When the strip 6 embraces the edge 3 and suitable pressure is applied to cause said strip to be adhesively secured to the edge by vulcanization or otherwise, the thickened edges 8 are, by reason of their greater thickness than the central portion 7 of the strip, caused to receive greater pressure than the thinner portion of the strip. This causes the edge portion of the strip to be very securely united to the opposing faces 1 and 2 of the bag whereby the possibility of the strip peeling or stripping away from the bag is avoided.

From the foregoing, it is obvious that my invention is not to be restricted to the exact embodiment shown but is broad enou h to cover all structures coming within t e scope of the annexed claims.

What T claim is 1. An article of the class described comprising a bag having a narrowed expansible mouth, a binding strip extending about the edge of said bag, said strip being provided with inturned portions forming thickened edges, the entire strip being adhesively secured to the bag.

2; An article of the class described comprising a bag having a reinforcing strip extending about its edge and adhesively secured thereto, said strip being provided with thickened edges and a thinner central portion.

3. An article of the class described comprising a bag composed of two flat sections of sheet rubber, said sections being united at their edges, a binding strip adhesively secured over said edges, said strip having its longitudinal edges inturned providing longitudinally extending thickened edge portions and a thinner central portion on said binding strip. 7

4. An'article of the class described comprising a powder puff container composed. of a bag of expansible material having an mawama expansible opening of less diameter than the powder puff intended to be contained Within the bag, a reinforcing strip extending about the edge of said bag, said strip be ing vucanized under pressure on said edge and having opposite inturned edges lying on opposite faces of said bag and secured thereto.
